Jurassic World 2: No Militarized Dinosaurs

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has come forward to shed light on the upcoming sequel, which he say swill be "more suspenseful and scary" than the original.

Thanks to his involvement in Star Wars: Episode IX, Trevorrow isn't directing Jurassic World 2. Instead, horror director Juan Antonio Bayona is helming the film, and according to Trevorrow, he's the perfect fit for the film's darker story. "It will be more suspenseful and scary," Trevorrow told Jurassic Outpost. "I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skill set."

Twitch and Amazon Announce Twitch Prime

Twitch and Amazon have announced Twitch Prime, a new set of video game-related benefits for Amazon Prime members.

Subscribers will now get exclusive discounts on pre-orders and new-release physical games for the first two weeks after launch. Amazon is offering free release day delivery on pre-orders as well. Members will also receive an updated selection of free digital games and in-game loot, such as characters and skins.

Starting today and until November 6, Twitch Prime members can claim Hearthstone’s new hero, Tyrande Whisperwind, along with a custom card pack. In October, a Twitch Prime branded skin from Smite, and a free copy of Streamline, a new game from Proletariat Studios, will be up grabs.

It's a big anniversary for Scrubs this weekend, with October 2nd marking 15 years since we first met the men and women of Sacred Heart. The impressively durable series -- it ran for nine years on two different networks (including that weird pseudo-spinoff Season 9) -- helped usher in a new era for network TV comedy, with its then-rare use of a single camera format and more multilayered storylines. With that in mind, we're taking an updated look at the Top 10 episodes of the series.

The best episodes of Scrubs are those that have plenty of goofy humor, an imaginative daydream sequence or three and a stomach punch at the end to remind viewers the show still takes place at a hospital... where people occasionally die. Dishonored 2: Messing Around With Emily's Crazy Powers

The sheer anticipation of seeing the next cool gadget, spectacular spell, or awe-inspiring environment can be a driving force on its own, and the most recent demo I played Dishonored 2 conjured that feeling up for me. If I were to sum up my latest turn with it in one sentence, it would be, “What will I see next?” The striking art style, Emily’s crazy powers, and the spectacular transforming walls of the Clockwork Mansion all left me wondering what treats the rest of Dishonored 2 might have in store.

The mission I played, The Clockwork Mansion, takes place roughly half way through the game, tasking Emily or Corvo with two possible objectives: find and rescue your old friend Anton Sokolov and deal with his captor, Kirin Jindosh, whose clockwork mansion has more hidden rooms than Wayne Manor. The original Dishonored was full of beautiful architecture, but the shifting walls in Jindosh’s estate take things to a new level. With a single pull of the many levers I found throughout the area, stair cases transformed, floors broke away, and walls did flip-flops, transforming the landscape around me. It felt like the kind of spectacle many games would save for a finale. If this is an environment halfway through the game, I can’t even imagine what might follow or top it.

Batman, Joker Are 2016's Top Adult Halloween Costumes

Despite the negative critical reception garnered by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad earlier this year, popularity for the Batman franchise is quite high this Halloween, as the top costume choice among adults between the ages of 18 and 34-years-old is a character from the Caped Crusader's universe.

According to the National Retail Federation's list for this year's top costumes (via TIME), superheroes in general were the top choice among children, just ahead of princesses and animals. Meanwhile, Batman characters, including The Joker, Harley Quinn and Batman, were the top choice among adults under 35 years of age (the list groups related characters together rather than individually rank each of them).

2 New Gears of War 4 Xbox One S Bundles Announced

Microsoft has unveiled two new Gears of War 4 Xbox One S bundles ahead of the shooter's October 11 release.

The first includes Gears of War 4 and a 1 TB white console, according to Xbox Wire. This standard bundle will be available worldwide October 11 for $350 USD.

The second, "special edition" bundle features a 500 GB "deep blue" console and will only be available in the US and Australia for $300 USD. This bundle, exclusive to Microsoft Stores and GameStop (EB Games for Australian shoppers), hits stores November 1.

Ranking Halloween Horror Nights' Awesome Mazes

As a huge fan of Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, I love visiting each park every year to see the various mazes. While many of the mazes at the two parks are based on the same property, they are never the exact same, as they are made by different teams for completely different types of configurations and buildings, often resulting in wildly different experiences.

A few days ago, I did my ranking for this year’s Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, and if you compare my new list below ranking the 2016 mazes at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood, you’ll find several shared titles with Orlando that have quite different positioning.

War for the Planet of the Apes Coming to NYCC

Those attending New York Comic-Con next week will have the opportunity to get an early glimpse of War for the Planet of the Apes, as 20th Century Fox will showcase a sneak peek of the upcoming film at the convention.

According to Deadline, director Matt Reeves will be joined by motion-capture master and Caesar star Andy Serkis as well as the film's producer, Dylan Clark, to provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the next installment in Fox's Planet of the Apes series. The event will take place at the Regal E-Walk Theater on Thursday, October 6 at 8:30pm.

Paramount Explains Ghost in the Shell's Glitch Teasers

Several brief teasers for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell live-action film aired during the Mr. Robot: Season 2 finale, and a Paramount Pictures exec has come forward to explain why.

According to Paramount president of worldwide distribution and marketing Megan Colligan, the strategic placement of these 10-second clips was to stir up buzz on social media. In fact, Deadline reports that the studio's marketing team persuaded the sales executives at NBCUniversal and USA to go along with these unconventionally-short and nondescript TV spots.

Ash vs Evil Dead: 7 Reasons Ash Rules

Ash vs. Evil Dead's Season 2 premiere airs on Starz this October 2nd, and to honor the show's gloriously gory return we're taking a quick look at what makes the franchise's battling bonehead of a hero, Ash Williams (iconically portrayed by Bruce Campbell), so damn awesome.

First appearing in 1981's The Evil Dead, Ash, along with his girlfriend, sister and a couple of friends, visited a remote cabin in the woods where he accidentally awakened demonic spirits from beyond. Ash, bloody and disremembered, would survive the night, but then he'd go through all of it again in Evil Dead II - the horror/comedy reboot-quel.

The swashbuckling Army of Darkness would follow in 1992 and then Starz' Ash vs. Evil Dead would resurrect Ash decades later for a new rambunctious run. So how can one man be such an ass and an ass-kicker? How can a hero be so dense but then also be so diabolically good at demolishing deadites? Ash has always been the "reluctant hero," never really stepping up until pushed too far. Selfish to a fault, Ash's own idiocy usually causes the actual trouble he has to clean up. Good thing he's the Boomstick Butcher with the Chainsaw Hand.

Pokemon Generations Episode 4 Released

The Pokemon Company has just released the fourth episode in its web-exclusive series, Pokemon Generations.

Episode 4, aptly titled "Lake of Rage," centers around the Elite Four's iconic Dragon Master, Lance, who travels to the aforementioned lake to investigate reports of an abnormally combative Red Gyarados.

New episodes of Pokemon Generations will launch every week, right up until December 23. The series will feature a total of 18 episodes, with each spotlighting key characters and moments from the first six generations of the popular franchise. Lego Releases New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Sets

Disney and Lego have released a whole new set of Star Wars Lego sets to celebrate Force Friday and the upcoming release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Five new vehicle sets with accompanying minifigures have released, as well as three buildable figures, which include Jyn Erso, the new droid K-2SO, and an Imperial Death Trooper. Take a look at the sets below:

The new sets include: an Imperial Assault Hovertank, an AT-ST Walker, a TIE Striker, a Rebel U-Wing Fighter, and Krennic's Imperial Shuttle. All of the figures and sets, as well as more images of each, are currently available on Amazon.

Furious 8: Diesel Reveals Release Date for First Trailer

Vin Diesel has revealed that The Fast and The Furious 8 will get its first trailer December 11.

On Facebook, Diesel made the announcement, sharing what looks like a photo from Furious 8. He stars in the long-running action film series as Dominic Toretto.

LEGO Ship Sets Guinness Record for World's Largest

A Danish shipping company has built the world's biggest ship made of LEGO bricks. As reported by Brothers Brick, DFDS built the giant plastic vessel, dubbed Jubilee Seaways, with over 1,000,000 individual LEGO bricks.

According to the DFDS blog, the ship was constructed to celebrate the company's 150th anniversary. Modeled after one of DFDS' real-life ferries, over 7,000 employees worked on the construction by assembling thousands of bricks made of 45 individual LEGO pieces.

Paladins: Champions of the Realm Coming to PS4, Xbox One

Hi-Rez Studios' team-based shooter Paladins: Champions of the Realm is getting a closed beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Just like on PC and Mac, Paladins will continue to be free on consoles. If you're on PS4, you can sign up for the beta here. Xbox One players can sign up here.

"From day one of development, Paladins was designed with console in mind," the developer wrote on its website. "We’ve enlisted some big-name console gamers to make sure the control scheme feels just right."

The Purge May Get a TV Show

With each film in the series making more money than the last, The Purge now seems to be making the move to TV.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, series writer-director James DeMonaco revealed that talks for a "an interwoven anthology" show were at an advanced stage:

"They came to me about a TV show," he explained. "My idea is that you do six or seven storylines. And I would kind of intercut them, use flashbacks."

The Purge series centres on a near-future USA that suspends all laws and emergency services for a 12-hour period once a year.

The main thinking behind the show seems to be based in being able to expand not the history of Purge Night itself, but what would drive someone to take part in the lawless carnage:

NES Classic Is Budget-Priced NES-talgia...With a Catch

Nintendo’s new mini-console, called the NES Classic, is an ‘80s-themed throwback for anyone who wants to play 30 of the best video games made for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It packs in truckloads of mostly-excellent classic games, including hits like Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, and Castlevania. Overall, it’s an impressively lightweight system that outputs significantly better software emulation compared to Nintendo’s current offerings. Resident Evil 7 is just a few months away, and we still don’t know what it actually looks like.

Capcom says the Beginning Hour demo is a “tone piece” designed to match the final “feel” of Resident Evil 7, and not an actual gameplay preview. The recent Lantern demo, available exclusively at conventions and private press appointments, is a section straight out of the game, but rather than give us a look at the “core” gameplay of Resident Evil 7, it pulls from one of the found footage sequences that Capcom has confirmed will be a recurring element.

Luke Cage Talks Future Marvel Netflix Storylines

Mike Colter, star of Marvel's Luke Cage, has tabled possible storylines that could be explored in future Marvel Netflix shows, once The Defenders miniseries has aired.

"I think that anything is possible down the road," Colter told IGN.

"We need to develop the characters. I think there’s a big-picture plan that includes everyone doing their own series, which we’ve done, culminating to make The Defenders. I think after that anything goes.

"We have the Heroes for Hire thing that could possibly happen. And we have Jessica and Luke in the Alias comics hooking up, having a child, and changing their life style. That could happen. You have a multitude of things that could happen."

Pokemon Go Launch Suffered Because it Had 50 Times More Traffic than Expected

Ever wondered why the Pokemon Go launch was plagued with problems? It’s all down to ridiculously high traffic.

According to Google’s Director of Customer Reliability Engineering, Luke Stone, he has never “taken part in anything close to the growth that

customer Niantic experienced with the launch of Pokémon GO.”

Stone says within just 15 minutes of Pokemon Go launching in Australia and New Zealand, traffic had already passed Niantic’s initial predictions.

Nintendo Reveals the Famicom Mini for Japan

Japanese gamers are getting their own version of the NES Classic Edition, in a more appropriate style for the region.

Following the same theme as the western version, the Nintendo Classic Mini Family Computer looks everything the part of a shrunken down 8-bit Nintendo console. But rather than look like a tiny NES (which would be silly), it's a shrunken-down Famicom.

And yes, it looks every bit as awesome as the NES Classic Edition, and has the same functionality. It plugs in to a television via HDMI, giving the crispiest of edges to those 8-bit classics, and it has 30 games built in. Unlike the western version, the miniature Famicom comes with two controllers, to make it accurate to the original machine on which the controllers sat when not in use.

Westworld: Exploring the "Life" of a Robot

Among a stellar cast in HBO’s Westworld (including Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris) Evan Rachel Wood is getting a ton of acclaim – including in my own review – for her standout performance. The actress is our big “in” for the series in its premiere playing Dolores, one of the androids programmed to believe they’re living in the Wild West as one of a theme park’s so-called “Hosts,” there to entertain the guests by recreating the past in various roles, and for various purposes.

Dolores is an open-hearted, optimistic prairie girl living with her father – who doesn’t know she continues to live the same day over and over, often ending in horrific events, depending on which guest she encounters and how ugly their impulses are.

Blizzard is Finally Making Hearthstone Less Random

Hearthstone’s most recent round of nerfs represents the first step towards a more consistent and competitively viable card game. Yogg Saron will now stop casting spells if it dies during it’s effect and Tuskar Totemic can no longer summon Totem Golem. These changes may seem minor, but this is the first time in history of the game that a card has been changed to reduce the variance of it’s random effects.

Superior: Millar Wants John Cena to Star

Development on a film adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series Superior is well underway, and according to the esteemed writer, John Cena would be the perfect fit for the lead role.

After seeing the WWE Superstar's performance in Trainwreck, Millar told ComicBook.com that because Superior is "a fun story," with "the conceit being Big meets Superman," the film's lead "needs to be someone who can pull off the comedy," and Cena would be perfect for that role.

Stardew Valley Getting Huge Update Next Week

A big update for Stardew Valley, the farming simulator and country life RPG from ConcernedApe and Chucklefish Games, is planned for Monday, October 3. You can find instructions for participating in the beta on the Stardew Valley forums.

One of the biggest updates is the addition of four new starter farm maps, available on the character creation screen. Each map caters to specific skills sets: the Riverland Farm has plenty of fishing spots, the Forest Farm comes with more foraging areas and a special mixed seed-dropping weed, Hill-top Farm has mineral deposits for mining enthusiasts, and Wilderness Farm spawns Bats and Golems at night. The standard Stardew Valley farm map still exists.

Battleborn Will Reportedly Become Free to Play

2K's Battleborn will reportedly become free to play in the coming months, with an official announcement supposedly coming in mid-November.

According to a report from Kotaku, the multiplayer shooter will undergo the pricing restructure due to poor sales since the game's launch in early May. The decision for the change has already been delayed a couple of times.

An anonymous source speaking in the report said that developer Gearbox wanted Battleborn to be free to play from the start, but publisher 2K reportedly decided it was better off as a full-fledged $60 retail game.

The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl Team Up in New Promo

The Flash and Arrow have decided it's time to introduce Supergirl to their fight club.

The CW has released a new ad featuring the DC superheroes, along with the Legends of Tomorrow. But instead of fighting each other to blow off steam, this time it's more of team-up training session, at least in the clip below.

The full, new Fight Club 2.0 promo is only currently available to watch on The CW's new app, which will also allow users to watch a number of episodes the network's shows for free.

Now to be clear, none of this footage is from the upcoming DC Comics four-show crossover. Though we did just learn that the Dominators will serve as the villains for the superheroes.

This week marks the 10th anniversary of Dexter, which made its debut on Showtime on October 1st, 2006, and to mark the occasion, we're once more looking back at the entirety of the series to reflect upon the good times and the bad.

Plenty of fans still feel stung by how the show ended, but it's worth remembering that when Dexter was good, it was great. And when it tightened the vice, the pressure could be devastating. Let's not forget that there was a time when we were all telling our friends, "You have to see this show! It's totally awesome and twisted!"

Johnny Depp in Talks for Murder on the Orient Express

It looks like Johnny Depp may soon join the upcoming film adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express, as the actor is reportedly in talks to star alongside director Kenneth Branagh.

According to Deadline, Depp is currently in negotiations with Fox for a role that has yet to be revealed. After recently appearing in a handful of box office flops, Depp was tagged last year as Hollywood's most overpaid actor. Earlier this month, Depp joined the cast of the thriller Labyrinth, where he'll star as Detective Russell Poole, the man who investigated the murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

Son of Zorn Is Serious About Its Animated Land, Zephyria

Son of Zorn might be largely set in Orange County, but it establishes a decidedly more fantastical world from the get-go in its pilot. The show's titular barbarian hails from the land of Zephyria, an island animated nation which, according to executive producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller, exists "under the 'A' in the Pacific Ocean."

Zephryia is a realm straight out of '80s action cartoons, comparable to He-Man's Eternia, and much of the fun of Son of Zorn is seeing those fantastical elements meld with our own more mundane world. The second episode of the show sees Zorn using the Stone of Sight to help his son Alangulon get the girl he's been pining after, though the episode is also loaded plenty of nods to other Zephryian secrets waiting to be discovered.

Ash vs Evil Dead Peels Back the Layers on Its Leading Man

You might think that after three feature films, a handful of comics and video games and one season of a TV show that you know everything there is to know about Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell). But Season 2 of Ash vs Evil Dead is out to prove you don't know nothin' yet.

When Season 2 picks up in its October 2nd premiere, Ash has finally accomplished his life-long dream: going to Jacksonville. But evil doesn't stay tamed for long, and he soon finds himself and his partners, Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago), heading to his home town of Elk Grove, Mich. to find some answers.

There audiences will meet some new faces: Ash's father, played by Lee Majors, and Ash's childhood best friend Chet, played by Ted Raimi. Meeting these two will shine a light back on Ash vs Evil Dead's titular hero, particularly when people get a sense of the man his father is.

How VR Could Change the Way We Treat Depression

While most of the hype surrounding VR has focused on games and entertainment, virtual reality in its latest guise poses a number of practical possibilities within clinical settings. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 43.6 million adults in the United States alone have a diagnosable mental disorder, giving VR the scope to help a lot of its potential users.

Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy has been around for more than 20 years, but technological limitations and cost have prevented it from becoming widely available. That said, the advent of affordable mobile headsets means there are new opportunities to decentralize mental health treatment, and for it in turn to reach the masses. The current lack of clinical data, and how developers go about creating medically reliable experiences moving forward, will undoubtedly prove to be VR’s biggest challenge from a health perspective, though more and more studies are coming to light.

Ken Kutaragi a 'Japanese Steve Jobs,' Says Jack Tretton

Former Sony boss Ken Kutaragi, who's best known as "The Father of PlayStation" and visionary behind the PlayStation 3, was in many ways like a "Japanese Steve Jobs," according to former SCEA CEO Jack Tretton.

When asked about Sony Computer Entertainment's former Chairman and Group CEO on the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered, Tretton recalled his time working for Kutaragi, calling him an "amazing man" and "unlike anybody else in that you could just take all corporate decorum and throw it out the window."

Tretton went on say that Kutaragi is much like former Apple head Steve Jobs "in that he had a vision that was very contrary to the corporate vision."

Titanfall 2 Campaign’s First 3 Hours Are Intense

When Respawn wanted to build a full-blown single-player campaign for Titanfall 2, the first decision they made was to allow the player exit the Titan – however foolish that may be at times. But beyond that? There obviously wasn’t much of a blueprint to follow from the first Titanfall, so Respawn’s designers did something all good creators know how to do: they started playing with blocks.

Action blocks, that is.

Every week for six months, the developers in charge of campaign design were tasked with bringing a new idea to the collective table. It could be a weapon, a puzzle, a mechanic, a small section of a level. Anything, really, as long as it was small, simple, and playable. These “action blocks” were discarded or set aside when they weren’t fun, but the ones that captured everyone’s attention or sparked their imaginations were dissected and explored. They’re only small ideas, sure, but six months of brainstorming is no small deal, and from what I saw, it seems to have paid off.

Misty Knight Will Appear in The Defenders

Simone Missick, who stars as Misty Knight in Marvel's Luke Cage, has confirmed that her character will be joining the fray in another one of Netflix's exclusive Marvel series, The Defenders.

"I believe I'm safe to say that I will be on The Defenders," Missick told TheWrap during its latest episode of Drinking With the Stars, before jokingly adding, "Spoiler alert! If I lose my job because of this interview, sorry! I was supposed to be on The Defenders, until I got fired."

Bulletstorm Remaster Coming for PS4, Xbox One and PC

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition has been rated by the Brazil Advisory Rating Board.

According to Gematsu, Full Clip Edition is listed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It's going to be published by Gearbox Software, and it's due out next year.

Back at E3 this year, Microsoft handed out USB drives to press with folders named "Bulletstorm Remaster." Nothing official was announced at the time, but this latest news would seem to confirm our earlier suspicions.

Nidhogg 2 Announced Alongside Debut Trailer

A sequel to Messhof's sword-based fighting game Nidhogg has been announced, and will release sometime next year.

According to the developer, Nidhogg 2 will be available for PC and "maybe some other platforms." Check out the debut trailer below for an early look at the game in action.

The sequel boasts a number of improvements over the 2014 original—which won IGN's Game of the Month—including "completely overhauled" character animations and environments, as well as a brand-new soundtrack featuring the works of Mux Mool, Dose One and Daedelus.

Nidhogg 2 will include at least ten different levels, as well as both local and online multiplayer, and a tournament mode. A single-player option will also be available, allowing players to face off against waves of AI opponents with special challenge rounds peppered throughout.

Luke Cage Actor Is Up for Joining The Avengers

Mike Colter, the star of Marvel's Luke Cage, has expressed an interest in becoming a fully-fledged member of The Avengers.

"Sure, if scheduling permitted," Colter told IGN. "They’ve got me working pretty hard over at Marvel Television. I think Jeph Loeb

said it best: there isn’t a master plan – or maybe there is and they just won’t tell us what it is, and that’s fine – but I think ultimately, we have a schedule and things are planned so far in advance, so how do you make sure this is actually going to happen."

"I’m all for it if it happens, but I’m very comfortable where I am as well."

In recent years, Cage has become a recurring and influential figure in the comic book incarnation of The Avengers. Back in 2005, when writer Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch launched The New Avengers, Cage was a founding member of the re-formed team. He has remained associated with The Avengers in various roles ever since.

Names and Details of Battlefield 1's Five War Stories Released

EA and developer DICE have further detailed Battlefield 1's anthology of 'War Stories' that make up its single player campaign.

The five mini-campaigns will take place across the globe, featuring fights in the Middle East deserts, France, the Alps, and more.

"Friends in High Places" puts you in the cockpit of a British fighter plane against German aces on the Western front. "Intense dogfights, unexpected encounters, and a story of friendship await you," according to the campaign's description.

Adventure Time to End After Season 9

Oh my glob. Pendleton Ward's Adventure Time is set to end in 2018, following the finale of its ninth season.

Deadline reports that the consistently weird, occasionally heartbreaking travels of Finn and Jake will come to a close in approximately two years - although we have a fair few new episodes, miniseries and a movie to come before then.

“Adventure Time was a passion project for the people on the crew who poured their heart into the art and stories," said Pendleton Ward in a statement. "We tried to put into every episode something genuine and telling from our lives, and make a show that was personal to us, and that had jokes too! I’m really happy that it connected with an audience for so long. It’s a special thing, I think.”

Comic Book Reviews for September 28, 2016

The comic book industry capped off the month of September with plenty more DC Rebirth and Civil War II. DC delivered a double dose of great Wonder Woman comics, welcomed Batman Beyond into the Rebirth era and launched the newest Vertigo series, Frostbite. Marvel wrapped up the current volume of Nova on a very high note and had several strong Civil War II tie-ins thanks to Captain America: Sam Wilson #13 and Ms. Marvel #11. Elsewhere, Dark Horse debuted the surprisingly excellent Tarzan on the Planet of the Apes and and Image published another memorable issue of Saga.

Microsoft's Original Goal Was to Sell 200 Million Xbox Ones

Microsoft’s Phil Spencer says the company originally planned to sell through 200 million units.

In an interview with Stevivor, Spencer explained the original plan, and how that plan has altered since its inception.

“The goal that the team had was to figure out how could we sell 200 million game consoles,” says Spencer. “We’ve never seen a console sell that many units. The biggest individual console, the PS2, did 120 million or something like that.”

Spencer goes on to explain how the original idea of an all-in-one media system has been scaled back in some respects to refocus on being a gaming console first.

Deep Silver to Co-Publish Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Warhorse Studios has announced a partnership with Koch Media's publishing label Deep Silver to release its historically authentic medieval role-playing game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

Deep Silver will co-publish the title alongside the Czech-based indie game studio, with plans to launch the game sometime in 2017.

Warhorse Studios will handle the global distribution of the PC's digital release, while Koch Media will publish the digital and physical releases of the PS4 and Xbox One versions, as well as the physical release of the PC version under the Deep Silver label.

The Final Fantasy Trading Card Game Is Coming West

Square Enix has announced the Final Fantasy Trading Card Game is coming to Europe and the United States on October 28.

The FFTCG has had a six year run in Japan, and the game now spans over 2,000 different cards. It's designed by former pro card game player Taro Kageyama and Shota Yasooka.

Black Panther Has Seemingly Cast Another Supervillain

Winston Duke has reportedly been cast in the role of M'Baku in Marvel's Black Panther movie.

This news comes via Variety, however Marvel has declined to comment at this time.

M'Baku, also known as Man-Ape, will be one of the villains facing off against Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther when the film debuts on February 16, 2018. We first saw Boseman in the role earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War.

Winston Duke has had roles on Major Crimes and The Messengers, and is known for his recurring role as Dominic in Person of Interest.

Michael B. Jordan has also been announced as the villainous Erik Killmonger in the film, and the cast also includes Lupita Nyong'o and Danai Gurira.

UK Xbox Sales Up 1000 Percent Following Xbox One S Launch

Xbox One sales have increased by almost 1000 percent in the UK since Microsoft released the new 500GB and 1TB Xbox One S models.

According to MCV, Microsoft's share of the hardware market for the week ending September 24 has jumped to 71 percent - a year-on-year increase of 76 percent, and a week-on-week rise of a significant 989 percent.

While Sony's new PlayStation 4 Slim is also now available, sales were down 66 percent year-on-year, with the PlayStation 4 taking just 19 percent of hardware sales last week - despite a week-on-week lift of 22 percent.

According to the report, a comparison of both the Xbox One S and PlayStation 4 Slim launch weeks puts Microsoft's sales ahead by 361 percent.

J.J. Abrams: A Portal Movie Announcement is Coming Soon

J.J. Abrams has confirmed the Portal and Half Life movies are still in development, and we can expect a Portal announcement "fairly soon".

Speaking to IGN on the Westworld red carpet (Abrams produces the HBO show), the filmmaker said both films were "still very much in development".

"We have a meeting coming up next week with Valve, we’re very active, I’m hoping that there will be a Portal announcement fairly soon", said Abrams.

When we asked if the movies would follow on from the story-lines that already exist in the games, Abrams kept his cards close to his chest.

"We are having some really interesting discussions with writers, many of whom...once you said you’re doing a movie or show about a specific thing that is a known quantity you start to find people who are rabid about these things. As someone who loves playing Half Life and Portal, what’s the movie of this, it’s incredible when you talk to someone who just ‘gets’ it, it’s like, oh my god, it’s really the seed for this incredible tree you’re growing."

Pokemon Go Players File Complaints With FTC

Over 70 Pokemon Go players have filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission since the mobile game was released in July.

Polygon reports that of the 72 complaints, 56 were directed at developer Niantic Labs, with the rest aimed directly at Nintendo and The Pokemon Company. Players have a few different grievances, with the largest revolving around money.

One player noted that their account got banned without any warning after they spent nearly $450 on Pokemon Go, as Niantic began blocking third-party apps, and accounts that were using those apps.

The player expressed interest in having either their money refunded or "my account returned to me so i can continue to play their game."

Gears of War 4 Prologue Gameplay Released

The Coalition has released a new video for Gears of War 4, showcasing the first 20 minutes of its upcoming Microsoft-exclusive third-person shooter.

The introductory mission, dubbed Prologue, gives players the opportunity to experience several key moments from three decades of Gears history, including the Locust's siege of Anvil Gate and the COG's battle at Aspho Fields to acquire the Hammer of Dawn technology. Watch all 20 minutes of gameplay footage below.

Gears of War 4 releases for Xbox One and Windows 10 on October 11.

Meet Luke Cage's Enemies

After Wilson Fisk in Daredevil and Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, the bar has been set high for the villains in the Marvel/Netflix series, but Marvel’s Luke Cage – debuting Friday on Netflix -- comes out of the gate with a notable antagonist via Cornell Stokes, AKA Cottonmouth, played by Mahershala Ali (The 4400, House of Cards, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and 2). A Harlem crime boss, Cottonmouth has an uneasy dynamic with his cousin, Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard – in her second Marvel role this year after her unrelated character in Captain America: Civil War). A local politician on the rise, Mariah is aware of Cottonmouth’s criminal actions and tolerates them to a point, but the two are often also at odds with one another – while Luke Cage’s actions also have consequences for both of them.

Fast and Furious Director to Steer Hot Wheels Movie

Justin Lin, director of four Fast and Furious films and Star Trek Beyond, has signed on to helm the long-gestating Hot Wheels movie.

The Wrap reports Lin will also produce the film based on Mattel's mega-popular line of toy cars. The director's production company, Perfect Storm Entertainment, will also have the option to co-finance the film alongside Legendary Entertainment, according the the report.

Star Wars Rebels: See Maul's Next Move

Star Wars Rebels: Season 3 continues Saturday night with the return of none other than Maul. The former "Darth" (he's discarded the title at this point) is once more set on making Ezra his apprentice, having already heavily influenced him in Season 2's finale - leading to Ezra getting ahold of the Sith holocron Maul was searching for.

Check out the new images below, showing Maul seemingly in complete control - having taken the Ghost crew hostage and with Ezra looking more than ready to study with him.

In addition, a new clip from the episode has been released, showing Maul and Hera having a discussion about Ezra.

Rogue One’s Final Trailer is Attached to Doctor Strange

Star Wars: Rogue One’s final trailer is running with Doctor Strange.

According to Star Wars News Net, the trailer’s release window was revealed during the Kino Expo International, a Russian film festival that was held in St. Petersburg from September 20 to 23. Elena Brodskaya, marketing director of the Russian subdivision of Walt Disney, disclosed this piece of information about Rogue One during a presentation.

Brodskaya talked about some of Disney’s future movies, such as the upcoming live adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, during which she said the company will keep Rogue One under wraps. That is, until it releases the Star Wars movie's final trailer when Doctor Strange hits theaters in Russia on October 28, and November 4 in the US.

Ubisoft Won't Necessarily Release Assassin's Creed or Far Cry Games in 2017

When it was confirmed that there will be no Assassin's Creed game in 2016, most assumed that the series would be taking a single year off. This may not end up being the case — and Far Cry may also be going away for longer than expected.

Speaking to IGN, Ubisoft VP of Editorial, Tommy François explained that both Assassin's Creed and Far Cry were undergoing close scrutiny during development, with a very particular goal in mind:

"I'll tell you what," François said, "We believe Alpha for these games needs to be one year before release. We're trying to achieve that. That's super f****** blunt, I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this. This is the goal we're going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish.

Significant Shaman Nerfs Coming To Hearthstone

Blizzard will be nerfing two key Shaman cards in the upcoming 6.1.3 update for Hearthstone.

In an official blog post outlining all the upcoming changes, Blizzard stated that they're "happy that Shaman has many deckbuilding options to choose from, but we are taking this opportunity to adjust two of the most widely played and frustrating Shaman cards."

The cards in question are Rockbiter Weapon and Tuskarr Totemic. The former is having its mana cost increased by one, and the latter is having its card text tweaked. The new Tuskarr will now only be able to randomly summon standard totems as opposed to special ones. In practical terms, this means that there will no longer be a chance of this low-cost minion minion summoning a board-dominating, and potentially game-ending totem to the field.

SHIELD May Have Just Introduced Another Captain America

Spoilers follow for last night’s Agents of SHIELD.

On last night’s Agents of SHIELD episode, "Meet the New Boss," actor Jason O'Mara’s character was introduced. As the replacement for Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson as the new director of the titular organization, Marvel had kept O’Mara’s character a mystery leading up to the new season of SHIELD -- though they had also hinted that he has roots that extend back in Marvel history to the 1940s. And now we know the new director’s name: He’s Jeffrey Mace, and he certainly does have a pretty significant backstory in the comics.

But first, let’s note that while the character is only verbally called “Jeffrey” in last night’s episode, subtitles reveal that his name is “Mace.” Obviously Marvel is planning on teasing out his true identity in the coming weeks, but it’s clear that this is Jeffrey Mace… also known in the comics as the Patriot. And also once known as… Captain America!

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Live-Action Film Announced

Warner Bros. Japan and Toho are partnering to co-produce a live-action film based on the popular anime and manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 13 Assassins director Takashi Miike is on board to helm the movie, which will release sometime in summer 2017. Warner Bros. Japan and Toho are planning for a worldwide distribution.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure centers around the stories of the Joestar family and their battles against supernatural forces with their own own special powers. The film adaptation will star Kento Yamazaki as the series' main character, Josuke Higashikata.

PlayStation Plus Free Games for October Revealed

Sony has unveiled the list of free games PlayStation Plus subscribers can download for free in October.

Resident Evil HD, a remastered version of the 2002 Resident Evil GameCube remake, headlines the month for PlayStation 4 subscribers, along with Platinum Games' Transformers: Devastation. IGN gave the latest update to Resident Evil an 8.0 when it released last year, saying that despite the game showing its age, "the scares, puzzles, and atmosphere of the creepy corridors of Spencer Mansion are as potent as ever."

IGN also gave Devastation a 7.7, noting that the latest take on the robots in disguise didn't rest solely on nostalgia as it delivered "a fun and energetic action game."

Wrestling Wrap Up: Smackdown Live is Kicking RAW's Butt

Yeah, I know, it's only been a few weeks of fire, but SmackDown Live has been giving RAW a rambunctious run for its rubles. No, I'm not really looking at the ratings -- though footballing and presidential debaternating have certainly taken their toll on RAW -- I'm declaring this so from a quality standpoint and giving SD Live a thumbs up and RAW a side-eye. Here's why.

Firstly, RAW's still three hours. This will always be a sore point. It's just nearly impossible to keep our attention through an entire show, which causes third hour fatigue and an overuse of authority figures to keep the episodes moving. SmackDown, coming in at a much more digestible two hours, has its own challenges regarding how to properly utilize its roster, but it's quickly figuring it out. The tag team and women's divisions, respectively, seem to suffer the most as you can only really fit in one match for each. And if there is a second match, it's a non-match ambush. Like what happened between Becky and Alexa Bliss this week.

How Video Games Helped Influence Westworld

Based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film, HBO’s new series Westworld comes from executive producer J.J. Abrams and EPs/writers Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight trilogy, Person of Interest) and Lisa Joy (Pushing Daisies, Burn Notice). The series expands on the concept of Crichton’s film, about a theme park populated by robots that recreates the Wild West for guests, putting much more of a focus on the robots (or “Hosts” as they’re called here) and how they experience Westworld – while also depicting those behind the scenes who control Westworld (played by the likes of Anthony Hopkins and Jeffrey Wright, no less), along with those visiting the park.

I sat down with husband/wife duo Nolan and Joy to discuss their approach to Westworld. We spoke about what appealed to them about the concept, the choice to begin the series through the perspective of one of the Hosts (Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores), how much they let their actors know ahead of time about their characters and much more.

Disney Confirms Lion King Live-Action Film

Jon Favreau’s next live-action Disney film will be a remake of The Lion King.

The news comes via a tweet by Favreau, and was later officially confirmed by Disney.

The Lion King adds to Disney’s portfolio of live-action remakes, which include Maleficent, Cinderella, and the Favreau-directed The Jungle Book – the latter of which earned $965.8 million worldwide since its release. Suffice to say, people want more live-action Disney films. Especially Frozen

Disney also mentioned that a sequel to The Jungle Book is in the works that will once again see Favreau at the helm.

Wasteland 3 Announced

Wasteland 2 developer InXile Games has announced a sequel to the 2014 RPG, Wasteland 3, and the developer is using Fig to raise funds for the game.

The campaign will launch on Fig on October 5 with a total goal of $2.75 million and a planned release on Windows, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out some first-look screenshots of the game below:

Wasteland 3 will take place in the frozen tundra of Colorado, where players take on the role of the only survivor of the Ranger squad Team November. The player’s choices can save the land or seal its fate, with decisions involving warring factions, whether to save or decimate certain locales, and other choices that will play out long term.

Former PlayStation Exec Jack Tretton Praises Early Access

Former SCEA CEO Jack Tretton is a big fan of Early Access, going so far as to suggest the program may be the best thing to ever happen to the video game industry.

"I think Early Access is probably the greatest thing that ever happened to gaming," Tretton said on the latest episode of IGN Unfiltered, noting that "gamers care about the technology" and "want to have a voice in the game itself."

The former PlayStation boss continued, highlighting the fact that with Early Access, "the developer gets free feedback, they get revenue to help drive the development of their game to the final product and the gamer gets an opporuntity to say, 'I like this, I don't like this.'"

No Man's Sky Marketing Being Investigated By UK Advertising Authority

The UK's Advertising Standards Authority has begun an investigation into whether marketing for No Man's Sky has misled consumers.

Confirming the news to Eurogamer, the watchdog said it had received "several complaints", centering on the game's Steam listing and its use of screenshots that complainants say misrepresent the final game.

Both screenshots and videos allegedly show creature and ship behaviour, user interfaces, structures, combat and more that does not appear in the game being sold. A Reddit thread has listed the full details of one complaint.

Overwatch's Zarya Joins Heroes of the Storm

Aleksandra Zaryanova, better known as Zarya from Overwatch, has made her way into the roster of Heroes of the Storm.

Blizzard's MOBA, which contains a variety of characters from all of its franchises, has a new patch, which brings in Zarya as well as a new map called Warhead Junction.

Zarya's basic abilities include launching a particle grenade, gaining a personal shield, and granting an ally a brief shield, much like in Overwatch.

Her heroic abilities are similar too, with one launching a bomb which draws enemies towards the center for 2.5 seconds. However her other heroic ability is an expulsion zone bomb, which knocks back enemies and slows their movement speed.

Future Gears of War Games Won't Necessarily Be Shooters

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer and creative director of The Coalition, Chuck Osieja have teased that a future Gears of War game could be a different genre from the existing ones.

According to Gamespot, the two attended Xbox Fanfest and were asked the question: "If Gears of War could expand into any other gaming genre, what would it be?"

Phil Spencer told Osieja to be careful about his reply (which some suggest could mean we may be seeing something other than a third person shooter in the future). Osieja gave the corporate answer: "At Microsoft, we evaluate all opportunities for our franchises. So, if the right opportunity presents itself, we'll explore that as something we can offer our fans."

Marvel's Mystery Venom Variant Cover Artist Is... Todd McFarlane (Sort Of)

Marvel announced last week it would be adding another variant cover to the debut issue of the new Venom series in November, and it has now been revealed Todd McFarlane is the artist.

Doctor Strange Will Appear in Avengers: Infinity War

Benedict Cumberbatch's turn as the Sorcerer Supreme will definitely not be his last, with Doctor Strange now confirmed for an appearance in 2018's The Avengers: Infinity War.

Talking to Empire magazine (via The Express), Cumberbatch explained that the next step for his character will be the “logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany”.

Given that those actors play Iron Man, Thor, Scarlet Witch and The Vision respectively, and that Infinity War is the only film they'll be sharing in the not-too-distant future, we have our confirmation.
