Why THAT Arrow Character Wasn't in the Crossover

While the big Arrowverse “Invasion!” crossover featured more superheroes than you can shake an Nth Metal mace at, there was one important Arrow character notably absent: Evelyn Sharp, aka Artemis.

According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Artemis wasn't included for a reason, and it had something to do with last week's cliffhanger.

RDR, Undead Nightmare PS Now Release Date Announced

Red Dead Redemption and the standalone expansion Undead Nightmare will both become available for PlayStation Now subscribers on December 6, Rockstar Games announced today.

Rockstar previously revealed that the original Red Dead Redemption would be hitting PS Now as part of the company's partnership with Sony in the lead-up to the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2. This, effectively, acts as the first time the original RDR is available to play on PC, as PS Now functionality on PC became available earlier this year.

Ahead of Doctor Who's upcoming Christmas Special, BBC America has released a new poster and plot details for the forthcoming episode.

The special, dubbed "The Return of Doctor Mysterio," will premiere on Sunday, December 25, at 9/8c, during which the Doctor will team up with a masked hero to save New York from an alien attack.

Are Guns in Video Games Holding the Medium Back?

‘The American Dream’ is a VR game where your hands are a pair of floating guns, and you must complete menial, everyday tasks - feed yourself, go to work, feed your children - using only your bullets, your magazines, and your gosh-darned patriotic attitude. With its Norman Rockwell-kissed aesthetic and a (not unkind) satirical take on the Second Amendment, The American Dream is a very American game.

It is, however, currently being developed in Australia, a country that enacted strict gun control laws in 1996. For many of us who grew up in antipodean countries, our obsession with guns in video games was, and continues to be, in contrast to our nonplussed environment. In New Zealand, for instance, police officers don’t even carry firearms. According to Nicholas McDonnell, whose studio Samurai Punk is behind The American Dream, this mental tug-of-war formed much of the inspiration for the game’s gentle satire. “

Westworld: Season Finale Photos Show a Conflicted Teddy

HBO's Westworld caps off its first season with a big 90-minute finale this Sunday, December 4th - "The Bicameral Mind" -- and as you can see from the new episode photos below, Teddy's about to come face to face with his past sins by returning to the scene of the crime - his crime.

Detective Pikachu Movie Lands its Director

The live-action Detective Pikachu film has landed its director.

THR reports that Rob Letterman, director of family fare like Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens and most recently, Goosebumps, will helm the Pokemon movie for Legendary Pictures.

Detective Pikachu was announced in July to take advantage of the worldwide Pokemon Go frenzy. While plot details have yet to be revealed, we know that Marvel screenwriter Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch will write the screenplay, and Legendary has fast-tracked production to 2017 while Pokemon is still dominating our pop cultural consciousness.

Time After Time: When H.G. Wells Met Jack the Ripper

Filmmaker Nicholas Meyer is best known for his contributions to the Star Trek franchise, including directing The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country as well as co-writing The Voyage Home. He’s had a varied career before and after Trek, but the film that led to his involvement in Khan was Time After Time.

The 1979 time-travel tale was a unique spin on H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine, depicting the author as the time traveler himself (played by Malcolm McDowell) who instead of visiting the far-flung future of the Eloi and the Morlocks (as in the original book) instead travels to San Francisco of 1979 in pursuit of the one and only Jack the Ripper (David Warner). While dealing with the complexities of what for him is the future, Wells also finds love with a bank clerk played by Mary Steenburgen.

NASA Is Experimenting With Fire in Space, and it Looks Awesome

NASA has been conducting space fire experiments to better understand fire safety in space and on spacecrafts, and it sure does look weird.

While NASA has done similar studies aboard the International Space Station before, potential risks meant these experiments were limited in size and scope. The new round of Spacecraft Fire Safety experiments, called "Saffire," began earlier this year, with NASA remotely igniting nine different material swatches in a cargo ship orbiting Earth:

The second experiment (in the videos above), Saffire-II, took place last week, and while NASA don't yet have enough data to produce the experiment's results, they have released two videos of two samples — Nomex (Sample 7) and Plexiglass (Sample 9) — being burned. Nomex is often used for cargo storage bags and plexiglass is used for spacecraft windows.

Halo 5: Guardians Reality eSports TV Series in the Works

An eSports television series centered around the Microsoft-exclusive first-person shooter Halo 5: Guardians is in the works.

According to Variety, developer 343 Industries has signed a deal with TV production company Pilgrim Media Group to develop the competition-focused reality series.

Kiki Wolfkill, the head of Halo Transmedia at 343 Industries, expressed her excitement to be working with Pilgrim Media to "bring the intensity and extreme competition of Halo 5: Guardians eSports to a television audience," saying, "there is no better partner than Pilgrim to give our fans insight into the world of Halo eSports."

Dragon Ball Super English Voice Cast Announced

Funimation has revealed the voice cast for the English dub of Dragon Ball Super.

Several voice acting veterans from Toei's hit anime series are returning to reprise their roles, with Seán Schemmel back to voice Goku, Christopher R. Sabat reprising his role as Vegeta, Jason Douglas voicing Beerus, Ian Sinclair playing Whis, and Sonny Strait as Krillin.

Billy Dee Williams to Finally Get to Play Two-Face

It's been 27 years since Billy Dee Williams played Harvey Dent in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film, and the actor finally has the chance to star as the character's villainous alter-ego, Two-Face, in the upcoming The LEGO: Batman Movie.

Director Chris McKay confirmed the news via Twitter, where he was asked by a fan if Williams will indeed be voicing the famous Batman villain.

Despite portraying Harvey Dent, Williams never got the chance to step into the role of Two-Face in the Batman sequels that followed. The franchise would eventually change directions with Joel Schumacher at the helm, who recast Tommy Lee Jones as Dent/Two-Face for 1995's Batman Forever.

Villains for Justice League vs. Suicide Squad Revealed

The villains responsible for the conflict in the upcoming Justice League vs. Suicide Squad six-part comic book event have been revealed in the new issue of DC’s Direct Current magazine, a publication that lets retailers and fans know what’s coming up in the world of DC Comics.

The currently unnamed group of baddies is headed up by Maxwell Lord, a complicated figure from before the New 52 who has been both member and enemy of the Justice League (you can see his elbow on the left). He’s probably most known for trying to take over the world in 2005’s Infinite Crisis. He used his mind-controlling abilities to take over Superman, which forced Wonder Woman to break Lord’s neck and kill him in order to free Superman. Looks like he’s up to no good again.

Former DICE Devs Announce New Free-to-Play Game

Lightbulb Crew, a small developer made up in part of former DICE and Ubisoft employees, has announced Games of Glory, a top-down multiplayer team shooter for PlayStation 4 and PC.

The small, France-based studio provided some early details in a press release Wednesday morning. Players will be able to choose between 15 characters across five general character classes, each with different skills, as you might imagine. You'll also get around 50 guns and melee weapons to choose between to boot. Battles will be either 3v3 or 5v5.

Games of Glory will be free-to-play next year, and will support cross-play between PS4 and Steam users.

December's lineup of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers has been revealed, including two cross buy titles for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita members.

Pokemon Sun and Moon Break Nintendo Record

Pokemon Sun and Moon are the fastest-selling Nintendo games ever released in the Americas.

The 3DS games have sold 3.7 million copies combined in less than two weeks, setting a new Nintendo record. Pokemon Sun and Moon have knocked down X and Y from the top spots.

In fact, Pokemon Sun and Moon saw an 85 percent sales increase over X and Y during the same launch period. And overall, the franchise has sold over 280 million games.

That number could increase even more with the reported Pokemon Stars, a third version of Pokemon Sun and Moon supposedly in the works for Nintendo Switch.

Rampage Movie: Which Monsters Will Appear?

Brad Peyton, the director of New Line's upcoming Rampage movie, has revealed which monstrous creatures will be featured in the video game-inspired film adaptation.

In an interview with We Got This Covered, Peyton expressed his excitement for the film, confirming it will feature the same classic trio of monsters from the original game. "There’s the three, the lizard, the ape and the wolf, so we’re keeping it similar," he said.

The original Rampage was released as an arcade game in 1986.

No Spider-Man PS4 Game at PSX, The Game Awards

Don't expect to see the new Spider-Man PS4 game at PSX or The Game Awards this week.

Developer Insomniac Games announced on Twitter that the PlayStation 4 exclusive will skip both events in December.

"Hey, web-heads! We're not showing new Spider-Man PS4 content at PSX/The Game Awards, but we're hard at work on cool stuff to share in 2017," the tweet said.

Unveiled at E3 2016, Spider-Man isn't based off the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming movie. Instead, the PlayStation 4 exclusive will focus on a more experienced Peter Parker as he battles crime in New York City.

The Inhumans Air Date Revealed

The first two episodes of Marvel's The Inhumans will make its IMAX-exclusive debut in early September, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster announced.

During the Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference (via The Hollywood Reporter) Forester confirmed the first 80 minutes of ABC's upcoming live-action series will screen in IMAX theaters across the globe on or around September 1 of next year, which will then be followed by a two-week run in theaters.

Shortly thereafter, on September 26, the series will premiere on ABC, with each new installment in the eight-episode series airing on Tuesday nights from that point on.

Get Assassin's Creed 3 On PC For Free

Ubisoft will be closing out its 30th anniversary game giveaway for PC players with the American Revolution-era Assassin's Creed III. The game publisher has been celebrating its 30th by giving away a new title from its backlog each month for PC players, and it will cap the celebration off with the final game in the Desmond continuity.

Available starting Dec. 7, you can grab a free PC copy of Assassin's Creed III provided you're an Ubisoft Club member. The offer will last for 30 days, which means the previous month's title Far Cry: Blood Dragon is still available to those who haven't signed up yet.

Taking place in the American Revolution, Assassin's Creed III was the finale of the Desmond line of Assassin's Creed games. In IGN's review of the game, writer Keza McDonald says "huge but inconsistent, Assassin's Creed III is an impressive adventure that succeeds in most of what it attempts."

Star Trek VI Director Has Regrets About the Film

Next week will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The film -- the final adventure of the original crew of the USS Enterprise -- was released on Dec. 6, 1991, and was part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Star Trek franchise itself.

Undiscovered Country was notable for the return of Nicholas Meyer to the director’s seat. As the man who resuscitated the franchise with The Wrath of Khan nine years earlier (and as a key contributor to the screenplay of The Voyage Home, the biggest crossover success for big-screen Trek at the time), Meyer’s steering the last voyage of Captain Kirk and his team was welcomed by fans wholeheartedly. In fact, the film is still regarded as one of the best of the Star Trek movies with its tale of the first tentative steps towards peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire after the long Cold War between the two powers (a clear analogy to the relationship between the U.S. and the USSR).

Netflix Introduces Offline Viewing on Selected Titles

Netflix will now let you download select titles for offline viewing on iOS and Android devices.

The new feature will be offered at no additional cost and can be used by clicking on the download button on the details page of select titles.

Why Arrow/Flash/Supergirl/Legends Crossover Is 'Invasion!'

When it came time to pick a threat to unite The CW's array of superheroes -- Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow -- the writing team behind the four DC shows knew it couldn't be a run-of-the-mill villain. The instigators for uniting the network's crime-fighting, alien-busting, metahuman-subduing heroes needed to be something the Arrowverse had never deal with before.

"We all collectively wanted the superheroes to face an external threat. And by external, I don't mean extraterrestrial; I mean not a Big Bad from one of the shows. Rather, a threat that came from outside of the shows," explained executive producer Marc Guggenheim following an "Invasion!" screening event.

Oculus Co-Founder Sees Long Life for Traditional Consoles

Despite the rapid advancement in technology, Oculus co-founder Jack McCauley believes that traditional console gaming won't be rendered obsolete anytime soon.

When asked on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered where he sees the future of gaming headed many, many years into the future, McCauley said that pricing constraints will keep consoles relevant for a very long time.

"It's gotta be a three or four hundred dollar console, so you're kind of strapped to that," he explained, noting that hardware above that price point doesn't sell particularly well. "It's gotta be in that sweet spot."

Ubisoft Wants To Unite All VR Devices with Cross-Platform Play

Ubisoft has confirmed that it will support cross-platform play across the three main VR hardware devices: Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and PlayStation VR.

According to Eurogamer, the publisher wants players on Eagle Flight, Star Trek: Bridge Crew, and Werewolves Within to be able to play together, regardless of what VR hardware they have.

"Our games feature a strong multiplayer experiences, so letting friends play together regardless of which headset they own will enhance the social nature of our games and let them be played the way we envisioned," said David Votypka, Red Storm's senior creative director.

It may have been the series that coined the phrase 'survival horror', but that idea is largely absent from recent instalments. It felt like Resi had lost its way, and identity, focussing more on action and spectacle over suspense and horror.

Resident Evil 7, thankfully, suffers from none of those anxieties. It’s a confident statement of what Resident Evil looks like today – and that’s an intense survival horror experience, with mystery and exploration at its core. And while it may look very different from the rest of the series – shifting setting and perspective – RE7 in fact feels much closer to the 1996 original than any other game in the series.

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards Is First Man to Play Video Game in Vertical Wind Tunnel

Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards has a new place in the record books as the first person to successfully play a video game in a vertical wind tunnel.

The game in question was Ubisoft's Steep, and the challenge had been arranged by the publisher to "test extreme winter sports fans" by asking them to "play whilst balancing themselves in mid-air".

Edwards rose to fame in the eighties as a Olympic ski-jumper, during which he bested the world record and became Britain's first representative in the sport since 1929. He made headlines earlier this year for being the eponymous subject of a film, Eddie the Eagle, starring Hugh Jackman.

“I couldn’t wait to give it go," said Edwards. "I love a challenge but this was unlike anything that I’d ever tried before. As soon as I started playing, I was determined to glide past that finishing line.”

Walking Dead: Key Character Confirmed for Season 8

AMC's hit series The Walking Dead will indeed be back for an eighth season, and one of the show's major stars has confirmed their character will return for Season 8.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show (via ComicBook.com), Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed there is still more to come for his ruthless character, saying, "I know I will be on board for Season 8."

More Death Stranding Details Coming This Weekend

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that this year's PlayStation Experience will feature a panel on Kojima Productions' upcoming game Death Stranding.

According to a post on PlayStation Blog, "Hideo Kojima and special guests" will present a Death Stranding panel at PSX 2016 this Saturday, December 3 at 1pm PT.

Death Stranding was announced at E3 this year as Hideo Kojima's first big release following his departure from Konami in 2015. So far little is known about the game, except for the fact that it's an action title, will star Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and will support online multiplayer alongside solo play.

GTA 4 Patched for First Time in 6 Years

New content is being released for Grand Theft Auto V all the time, but that doesn't mean Rockstar isn't still supporting its old games.

According to Kotaku, Grand Theft Auto IV has received its first patch in six years.

The patch contains some general bug fixes, and the game shows its age by solving an issue caused by graphics cards with more than 2GB of VRAM. The patch also adds Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 to the compatible OS check.

GTA IV was released back in 2008, and at the time, IGN gave it a 10 out of 10. The franchise as a whole has shipped hundreds of millions of units, with GTA V contributing 70 million of them.

Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ Possibly Coming to Nintendo Switch

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and also one mystery console.

In a recent Binding of Isaac blog post, it was revealed the game won't be coming to PS Vita or Wii U, but there is still one console to be announced. Since we're running out of options, it's possible Afterbirth+ could be coming to the upcoming Nintendo Switch.

Afterbirth+ is an expansion to Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, and will add further to the existing Afterbirth expansion with new items, a new playable character, a new final chapter, and more.

Investigation Clears No Man's Sky of Misleading Players

The UK's Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has officially dismissed claims that No Man's Sky misled players on its Steam Page and in its promotional materials.

In a meaty statement published on the ASA website, the regulatory body stated that "no further action is required" in investigating accusations that Hello Games misrepresented the sprawling space simulator before its release to the public.

Referring directly to the trailer, blurb and screenshots available on the game's Steam page, the ASA wrote, "We understood that the screenshots and videos in the ad had been created using game footage, and acknowledged that in doing this the advertisers would aim to show the product in the best light.

Flashpoint Impact Will Still Be Felt After ‘Invasion’ Crossover

The Flash has officially kicked off The CW's three-part “Invasion” DC crossover event, and while the invasion of the alien Dominators is the big threat, it's Flashpoint that struck the biggest blow to the superhero team. However, this crossover conflict won’t be the end of Flashpoint’s impact on the Arrowverse.

We attended a screening with other press where executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim explained how tonight’s Flashpoint truth bomb will affect the Arrowverse going forward.

When Cisco forced Barry to tell the group about Flashpoint, Diggle was struck hardest when he learned that he once had a daughter, Sara, who was essentially erased from existence and replaced with John Jr. The cast of Arrow will continue to deal with the revelations of Flashpoint, especially in the show's fall finale next week.

Rogue One Can't Top Force Awakens' First Day Pre-Sales

Initial ticket sales for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story couldn't match that of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Instead, the film had the second-highest day one pre-sales in the history of the domestic box office.

According to Variety, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster shared the news during a conference with investors, but didn't disclose just how many tickets were sold. According to Foster, the ticket sales specifically for IMAX are "on the high end of the range" compared to other major blockbusters.

Additionally, MovieTickets.com and Fandango have reported that first day ticket pre-sales for Rogue One were the highest both ticketing services have had all year.

Lucasfilm Boss Says No Rogue One Sequel

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story won't get a sequel, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine (via /Film), Kennedy made it clear that regardless of how well Rogue One performs in theaters, the studio has no plans to create a direct follow-up to the upcoming adventure of Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso.

Lucasfilm chief creative officer John Knoll and director Gareth Edwards echoed her sentiment. Edwards suggested the sequel is effectively the original 1977 Star Wars, saying any followup to Rogue One "will be directed by George Lucas."

Split: M. Night Shyamalan and Cast Talk the Disturbing New Thriller

M. Night Shyamalan recently premiered his newest film, the multiple personality tale Split, at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles a few months ahead of the thriller’s January, 2017, release date. The picture was welcomed with a round of applause from the crowd in the packed Chinese Theatre, and those in attendance at the screening were then treated to a late-night (or early morning) Q&A with Shyamalan and a number of the film’s cast members as well, including James McAvoy, Anya Taylor Joy, Betty Buckley, and producer Jason Blum. There, in front of an audience of people buzzing with questions from the film, they all provided some interesting insight into the backstory of Split and what it was like making the stylish thriller.

Amazing Spider-Man Star 'Heartbroken a Little' After Role

Andrew Garfield, who starred as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, recently discussed his experience starring as the web-slinging hero, saying it left him "heartbroken a little."

In Variety's latest "Actors on Actors" interview, conducted by Amy Adams, Garfield lamented the unfortunate realities of corporate America, something he struggled with when striving to do the story and character of Spider-Man justice.

"I was still young enough to struggle with the value system, I suppose, of corporate America really, it’s a corporate enterprise mostly," he said, noting that after working on both films, he learned that serving the story and character unfortunately aren't always the number one priority.

Lin-Manuel Miranda Working on The Kingkiller Chronicles

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will head musical development and serve as creative producer on The Kingkiller Chronicles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miranda will write and compose songs for the film and TV adaptions of the fantasy series by author Pat Rothfuss. Transformers 5 writer Lindsey Beer is tackling the first film's script, based off The Name of the Wind.

Miranda, who worked on Disney's Moana, says he's a big fan of the books.

"Pat Rothfuss' Kingkiller books are among the most read and re-read in our home," he said. "It's a world you want to spend lifetimes in, as his many fans will attest." Miranda said Rothfuss' writing about making music is done "more beautifully than any novelist I've ever read."

Stardew Valley Console Release Dates Announced

Stardew Valley is arriving next month on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version planned for the future.

Developer ConcernedApe announced that PlayStation 4 owners will get Stardew Valley on December 13, with the farming sim coming the next day in Europe on Sony's system. The game will also release December 14 on Xbox One globally.

The Wii U version of Stardew Valley has been canned. Announced at E3 2016, ConcernedApe is shifting focus from the home console to Nintendo Switch.

"Looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape, we made the difficult choice to shift our development efforts to creating a version for Nintendo Switch," he said. "I am really looking forward to the Switch, and I believe that the Switch’s unique capabilities could create some exciting opportunities for Stardew Valley."

Silver Surfer Actor Joins Star Trek: Discovery

Genre movie staple and veteran character actor Doug Jones is the latest addition to the cast of Star Trek: Discovery, the forthcoming streaming series from CBS All Access.

Jones is best known for his creature suit characters in director Guillermo del Toro's films, such as Abe Sapien in the Hellboy movies and as the Pale Man and the Faun in Pan's Labyrinth. Jones also played the Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and will soon be seen in the title role of The Bye Bye Man. He played the alien "Cochise" on Falling Skies, while Arrow and Flash fans may remember him as the villainous Deathbolt.

Check Out This Cool Pac-Man Merch From Japan

Bandai Namco, in collaboration with Harajuku-based fashion company Asobisystem (also the management company of pop star Kyary Pamyu Pamyu) and entertainment company Twin Planet, has announced the launch of the Pac-Store, an online shop for Japan-exclusive Pac-Man merchandise.

The Pac-Store made its debut at the Moshi Moshi Nippon Festival at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium late last week, with merchandise going on sale on Bandai Namco's own online store, LaLaBit Market, starting in January. The line-up of Pac-Man merch includes short and long-sleeve t-shirts, caps, pouches and bags, a mug, and more.

Don't Breathe Blu-ray Reveals the Blind Man's Identity

IGN was among the press outlets who recently attended a lunch interview with Don't Breathe director Fede Alvarez to tout the hit thriller's Blu-ray and DVD release (out today).

Here are the bonus materials included on the Blu-ray, DVD & Digital release of the film, which scared up $152.8 million on a budget of just under $10 million: Deleted scenes with director’s commentary; Commentary with Alvarez, co-writer Rodo Sayagues and actor Stephen Lang; and the following five featurettes: “No Escape” “Creating the Creepy House” “Meet the Cast” “Man in the Dark” and “The Sounds of Horror.”

Nintendo Switch Hands-On Event to Take Place in January

Nintendo has issued invitations to a private hands-on event in January for its upcoming Switch console.

The press-only event will be held on January 13, 2017 in New York following the already announced Nintendo Switch presentation on January 12. IGN has been invited and will have coverage straight from the event in January.

The invitation explains that the event is intended to "further emphasize some of the details that Nintendo plans to announce the prior evening during its Nintendo Switch Presentation in Tokyo."

No additional details about what will be shown for the Switch at the event were included in the invitation, but the January 12 presentation, which is being held in Tokyo for media, analysts, and trade partners, is set to include information about the system's release date, price, and the lineup of games currently in development for the Switch. The console is currently planned for a release sometime in March 2017.

Nintendo Outlines Plans for Universal Theme Parks

Following last year's announcement of Nintendo's partnership with Universal Theme Parks & Resorts, Nintendo has outlined its plans to bring themed areas to three of Universal's parks.

"Expansive, immersive and interactive" areas based on Nintendo's iconic franchises are coming to Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

According to the company's announcement, each park's Nintendo-themed area will have "authentic environments," populated by various attractions, restaurants and shops.

Play Games in Facebook Messenger Without Installing New Apps

Facebook is launching Instant Games, a gaming platform that works inside Facebook Messenger and on the Facebook News Feed.

The HTML5, cross-platform service allows games to be launched without the need to install new apps. Seventeen games are available at launch from companies like Bandai Namco, Konami, Taito, King, and more.

Instant Games is accessed through a controller icon in both News Feed and Messenger and "allows people to easily discover, share, and play games." Scores, leaderboards, and chats can all be accessed through Messenger, and a bookmark for Instant Games is now part of Facebook.

The Facebook bookmark lets users "view and instantly replay all their favorite titles."

An open beta for Gigantic will launch for Xbox One and Windows 10 on December 8, Perfect World Entertainment has announced.

The free-to-play MOBA will release as part of Microsoft’s Game Preview Program in both North America and Europe. Gigantic offers cross-platform play, allowing those on Xbox One and PC to play together.

The open beta will feature a total of three maps and six characters from a 16-charater roster that will rotate on a weekly basis. Players will be able to customize their hero's style of play through character skill trees, as they work alongside their team members to claim points around the map in an effort to control the field. In order to defeat the opposition, the team of heroes must overtake the enemy's Guardian.

Lethal Weapon: Riggs Bets the House

In this week's all-new episode of Lethal Weapon, "Can I Get a Witness?" -- airing Wednesday, November 30th -- Riggs befriends the only credible witness after a million dollar casino heist takes a deadly turn - an eight-year-old boy.

In this exclusive scene from the episode, Murtaugh (Damon Wayans, Sr) and Riggs (Clayne Crawford) make a stop at a roulette table, where Riggs shows his partner that he's just as much of a wild card when he's gambling. Take a look!

Also on the episode, Murtaugh pulls some dangerous stunts in an attempt to prove to everyone that he can be a motorcycle guy while Riggs contemplates what to do with the money he received from selling his home in Texas.

LEGO World Coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One Next Year

Warner Bros. has announced its Minecraft-like open-world game, LEGO Worlds, is coming to consoles in February 2017.

The digital brick-building game - which has been available via Steam Early Access since last year - will also feature online multiplayer to allow players to explore each other's worlds.

The game promises "fun to fantastical" environments where "worlds come to life with a dizzying variety of vehicles and creatures – from cowboys riding giraffes to vampires scaring Yetis, to steamrollers, racing cars and colossal digging machines". Players can simply build their own creations and bring them to life, brick by brick.

"In LEGO Worlds, players will go on an exciting journey to become a Master Builder, in an open-world made completely of LEGO-built environments,” said Jonathan Smith, head of production at TT Games. “Whether customising characters, exploring in vehicles, building structures, or discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures throughout the worlds, there’s the freedom to create anything imaginable.”

Final Fantasy Live Action Trailer Launches Alongside Game

Final Fantasy XV is out today, and alongside it is a new live action trailer titled Stand Together.

The one minute 28 second trailer features a group of kids in some spooky woods attempting to take on a huge monster before being saved by the game's protagonists. Check it out below.

The trailer also features Final Fantasy XV's "theme song," a cover of Stand by Me by Florence and the Machine.

IGN's review of Final Fantasy XV says it "takes some risks that don't always pay off, but the strong quartet of heroes give it tons of heart."

Second Season Pass for Rainbow Six Siege Available Now

Ubisoft has revealed what will be in the Year 2 season pass for Rainbow Six Siege, and it's available for purchase right now.

Buying the pass grants you VIP premium membership until February 7, 2018. It promises to provide eight new operators across four seasons, eight exclusive headgear customizations, eight uniform customizations, the R6 Carbon charm, and 600 R6 Credits to use in-game.

VIP access also means you'll get the operators a week before everyone else, a 10 percent discount in the shop, a 5 percent renown boost, and two extra daily challenges. Plus, if you purchase the Year 2 pass before February 7, you'll get the Obsidian weapon skin.

You can find the Year 2 pass right now on the Microsoft Store for £24, and the PlayStation Store for £25. Expect the price in the US to be around $30, and for it to become available on PC soon.

Why Supergirl's Fall Finale Wasn't a Huge Crossover Ep

The CW might have teased a four-night "Heroes v Aliens" crossover event this week as its DC shows dive into the Arrowverse's adaptation of the "Invasion!" comics, but Supergirl's fall finale "Medusa" served more as a prequel to the full showdown against the Dominators.

During a Q&A after a "Heroes v Aliens" screening event, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg explained to members of the press why Supergirl (the show, not the character) is significantly less involved in the crossover than the other three CW DC series.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Confirmed for The Game Awards

New footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be revealed this Thursday night, December 1, at The Game Awards.

In a post on Twitter, Nintendo of America announced that "an exclusive look" at the upcoming Nintendo Switch and Wii U title will be shown at the event. In addition, The Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley posted a pair of teaser images on Twitter, one of which you can see below.

Rumor: Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 Coming in 2017

Marvel Vs. Capcom 4 is reportedly in development and planned for a 2017 release.

Sources tell Polygon that a fourth main entry in the fighting game franchise will launch sometime next year after being unveiled to coincide with The PlayStation Experience 2016.

According to Polygon's report, the game's stable of Marvel fighters will pull heavily from characters featured prominently in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, foregoing X-Men mainstays of the series like Wolverine and Magneto. Instead, the report suggests characters like Ant-Man and Groot would more likely be considered for the roster of fighters to line up with Marvel's film output.

Everything You Need to Know About The Last Guardian

Gamers have been looking forward to The Last Guardian since the first rumblings began to appear shortly after the release of Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus. The game is finally almost here - the culmination of an extremely lengthy and sometimes rocky development process that has, in some ways, overshadowed the game itself. We've been covering the game since its first trailer, all the way up through the official announcement of its completion. The Last Guardian holds the unusual distinction of being one of our most anticipated games for three different years, appearing as an entry on our "Most Anticipated Games" list in 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Ahead of E3 2009, the trailer for "Project Trico," the next game from Team Ico, leaked out. Project Trico was the internal codename given to the project that would become The Last Guardian. For Team Ico fans, and PlayStation fans as a whole, it was an exciting glimpse at the anticipated next game from the creators of Shadow of the Colossus. The official announcement for The Last Guardian came during Sony's E3 2009 press conference, during which the first official trailer for the then-PS3 exclusive was shown off.

NASA Doesn't Know What to Do With Poop in Spacesuits

NASA has just launched a competition to get some help figuring out what to do if astronauts have to poop in their spacesuits.

On the ISS, which is the furthest vessel from Earth that houses humans, astronauts have access to a 'toilet' that uses a vacuum to suck up and store any feces. If anything goes wrong with the spacecraft, though, such as loss of vehicle pressure, astronauts would have to stay in their spacesuits, and poop inside them.

This isn't a huge concern on the ISS as it's possible for astronauts to get back to Earth in a few hours, but with NASA planning to send humans to Mars in around 15 years, astronauts could be stranded in their suits for several days.

Dark Knight Actresses Addresses Death Scene Criticism

After more than four years since The Dark Knight Rises released, Marion Cotillard, who plays Talia al Ghul in the film, has finally addressed her much-criticized death scene.

While promoting her new film Allied, Cotillard was asked by French movie site Allocine about the scene and the harsh responses it received. The actress believes people overreacted, and that it's disappointing to be largely judged by a single scene rather than the work she did throughout the whole film.

"But I thought people overreacted, because it was tough to be identified just with this scene," Cotillard told Allocine in the video below, translated from French to English. "When I’m doing the best I can to find the authenticity in every character that I’m playing, it’s tough to be known just for this scene.”

Gotham Star on Whether Barbara Will Become Harley Quinn

Erin Richards, who stars as Barbara Kean in Gotham, has addressed the possibility of her character eventually becoming Harley Quinn in Fox's Batman prequel series.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Richards said that while "there have been conversations" about her character becoming Harley Quinn, she thinks "something major" would need to transpire for a full transformation to take place.

"Harley Quinn seems to like destruction for destruction's sake, and that's wonderful, but I feel like Barbara has more of a plan," she explained, adding that Barbara is "a little bit more intellectual in her approach toward climbing the ladder and taking over the underworld," while Harley Quinn represents the "madness and mayhem" also seen in The Joker. As such, Richards believes something major would need to happen to unhinge Barbara and remove "that kind of scheming side of her" before she could become Harley Quinn.

Arrow: What to Expect in the 100th Episode

Watch Wes Anderson's New Short Film

The Grand Budapest Hotel director Wes Anderson has released a new Christmas-themed short film online starring Adrien Brody.

The four-minute short, titled "Coming Together," is essentially an ad for clothing company H&M, but it still contains the director's signature visual style. The writing, quirky set design, and kinetic camera work are all present. The short's premise is simple and familiar, revolving around the theme of loving and caring for one another during the winter holidays. Anderson fans will need to check this one out:

This isn't the first advertisement Anderson has made, as the director created a more straightforward American Express ad several years ago. More recently, Anderson also made an eight-minute short film about a Formula One racer (Jason Schwartzman) for Prada, titled "Castello Cavalcanti."

Syfy's Incorporated: The Future is Now (and Scary)

Premiering on November 30th, Syfy’s new series Incorporated, from notable executive producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, imagines a futuristic world – the year is 2074 -- where corporations have completely taken control over a severely fractured and damaged planet. Here, the more well off live in the “Green Zone” (in a life of relative, business-oriented, comfort), while the “Red Zone” is a testament environment that has been separated off, as sources of food rapidly deplete.

The series focuses on Ben Larson (Sean Teale), a young employee at Spiga Biotech, who is hiding some big, dangerous secrets from his employers – including his intimidating mother-in-law, Elizabeth (Julia Ormond), his boss at Spiga.

Doctor Strange Surpasses Iron Man 1's Worldwide Box Office

Doctor Strange reached a major milestone this weekend, surpassing Iron Man's box office record and setting a new global benchmark for a single-character introduction film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As of Sunday, the film, starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, now has a worldwide earnings total that stands at $616 million, Deadline reports.

Compared to other single-character introductions in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Strange is now in first place, ahead of Iron Man's lifetime record of $585 million. Trailing behind Iron Man is Ant-Man with $520 million, Thor with $449 million, Captain America: The First Avenger with $317 million, and The Incredible Hulk at the bottom with $263 million.

Vikings: Ragnar Is 'on His Own Mission' in Season 4b

It should be no surprise to viewers of Vikings that, when the History series returns with Season 4b on November 30th, main character Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) isn't itching to reprise his rule as king of Kattegat. That's a main point of conflict in the season premiere, as Ragnar comes back with a very specific mission after his many years away from his family.

His lack of desire to be king was a big theme of the end of Season 4a, and something Vikings will return to when the season premiere, "The Outsider" airs. "He's not interested in treasure or any gain in his life," Fimmel told IGN on a visit to the show's set. "It's got nothing to do with power for Ragnar. It's something he's never really wanted, and that's probably the reason why the new season is the way it is. But he's still king, so he has to deal with a lot of stuff."

Forza Horizon 3 Blizzard Mountain Release Date

Forza Horizon 3's Blizzard Mountain expansion will be released December 13, Microsoft announced today.

Teased earlier in the month, the winter-themed expansion takes players to a snow-covered mountain and challenges them to compete in 50 new campaign challenges and events. Blizzard Mountain also introduces three new race types —Hill Climb, Descent, and Blizzard — and eight new vehicles, including the 2016 Ford GYMKHANA 9 Focus RS RX, 2016 Nissan Titan Warrior Concept, and a mystery barn find vehicle, according to Xbox Wire.

Hitman November Update Brings 'Major' Improvements

A new Hitman mandatory update will bring an offline profile, display changes, stability fixes, and more.

The update "is the first of a series of planned major game updates that will add new content and improvements" before the game gets a physical disc release on January 31, 2017, according to developer Io.

The offline profile will allow players to bring unlockable items, including all mastery items, earned online to the game's offline mode. Players will still need to be connected to Hitman's servers to unlock new items, however.

In addition, the statistics page will be getting a "major" update and will now display challenge, mastery level, and overall location completion. Opportunity completion checkmarks have also been added, making it easier to track completion for achievements or trophies linked to opportunities.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returns with "Deals with Our Devils" on Tuesday, November 29th at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The synopsis for the new episode reads: "With the loss of half the team, the remaining members search for answers as the clock counts down for Ghost Rider."

Oculus Chief Engineer: VR's Future 'Not Necessarily Gaming'

Oculus co-founder and chief engineer Jack McCauley shared his thoughts on the future of virtual reality, saying he doesn't believe it will "necessarily" be tied to video games.

"As a gaming platform, I'm not sure that with Unity and Unreal

we really understand how to write an application for

that doesn't have secondary effects like nausea," McCauley explained on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered.

"And how do you write gaming content when you're so used to writing first-person shooters or something like that," he continued, adding that playing a first-person shooter in virtual reality is "not that great of an experience and kind of makes you a little queasy."

Marvel Comics recently teased the return of X-Men: Gold and X-Men: Blue, two team comic books using the colored code names from the ‘90s when the mutants were at peak popularity. We have your first look at a ton of new information on both books including the creative duos, the team lineups, the cover art, and the concept of each book.

X-Men: Gold and X-Men: Blue are launching in April 2017 as part of Marvel's wave of "ResurrXion" titles that spin out of the upcoming Inhumans vs. X-Men event. Both books will ship twice per month.

Beavis and Butt-Head: The Complete Series Release Date and Box Art Revealed

Alright, fart knockers. Looking for something that doesn't suck? All episodes of Beavis and Butt-Head, including the 2011 run, are coming to DVD in Beavis & Butt-head: The Complete Collection - with a street date of February 14th, 2017!

IGN's got some exclusive details about the DVD to share with you, including the debut of the box art.

The DVD will include all 4 volumes of Mike Judge's iconic animated series, even Volume 4 - the aforementioned 2011 season. It will also contain the Special Collector’s Edition of the movie, Beavis & Butt-Head Do America. That's 12 discs in all, 11 for the show and 1 for the movie.
