The X-Men Are Only as Good as Their Costumes

It's tough not to look back at the past several years' worth of X-Men comics and not feel despondent about the state of the franchise. There are too many books fighting for attention and rarely a clear, engaging direction for the X-Men line as a whole. The problems are many, but there's one thing that's become apparent over the decades. The quality of the X-Men's costumes is often a direct indicator of the quality of the comics themselves. The clothes really do make the mutant.

As it turns out, pretty much every beloved X-Men era is marked by great costume designs. That's certainly true of Chris Claremont's Uncanny X-Men run, which kicked off with some truly classic designs by artists like Dave Cockrum and John Romita, Sr. These are some of the most iconic costumes in all of superhero comics, to the point where most of these characters are still wearing variations of the same basic designs even 40 years later.

The Walking Dead is Going to China, But Not the Way You Think

A new Walking Dead novel is expanding the series’ universe into China.

Announced by Skybound Books, The Walking Dead: Typhoon, written by Wesley Chu (The Lives of Tao, Time Salvager), follows a group of survivors that work together to face a “wave of walkers in the most populous country in the world.” Skybound says Chu will bring a fresh perspective on societal decay and decomposing flesh established in Robert Kirkman’s comic series.

“Our goal at Skybound Books has been to give novelists the same creative platform and freedom to tell engaging genre stories that we already have in place across comics, film, television, and games,” said Skybound SVP Sean Mackiewicz. “Plus, after 15 years, we’re about to answer one of the biggest questions The Walking Dead fans have had since the beginning: what’s happening to the rest of the world? That we can expand The Walking Dead universe with talented authors like Wesley Chu will allow walkers to truly become an even greater global phenomenon than ever before!”

Hacker Makes Printers Across the World Ask People to Subscribe to PewDiePie

Printers connected to the Internet across the world have been hacked to print a message urging people to subscribe to PewDiePie’s YouTube channel.

Reported by The Verge, this attack appears to be the work of @HackerGiraffe (a Twitter account that was just opened yesterday) who claims the relatively harmless act was carried out in order to raise awareness about a major hole in printer security.

The message sent to an alleged 50,000 printers calls for recipients to unsubscribe from T-Series, an Indian YouTube channel that is close to becoming the most subscribed channel on the platform, and subscribe to the current frontrunner PewDiePie’s channel instead. It also suggests reciepents subscribe to two other channels, "delete TikTok,” smile, and to fix the exposed printer.

A DSLR camera in the right hands can allow for some incredible photos, but there’s no denying a lot of people are getting tired of lugging around a bulky camera and lens, whether on holiday or just around town. Dissatisfaction with this size of DSLRs has led to the development of mirrorless cameras, which offer all the benefits of a traditional DSLR in a much smaller package. Because they ditch the mirror inside the the chassis that's used to reflect what's being seen up into an optical viewfinder, they’re significantly lighter and smaller. Recent advancements have brought mirrorless models up to par with their bulkier counterparts in terms of image quality, too, so these days there's not many trade offs for pixel peepers.

Watch the Family Guy Cutaway Gag You Didn't See on TV

Family Guy is known for its iconic cutaway gags, but after sixteen seasons of insanity, you've got to wonder just how many jokes ended up on the cutting room floor, either for timing, common decency, or because the episode already had too many detours.

Sure, they're probably not all hilarious, but judging by our exclusive deleted scene from the Season 16 DVD release (available beginning Dec. 4), we'd bet we've missed out on a few gems over the years. Check out the brief (but painfully relatable) clip above for a chuckle you didn't see on TV.

For more on Family Guy, check out what the showrunners had to say about Season 17 and how they plan to tackle the show's 20th anniversary.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Ending Explained

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald positions itself as being out to answer the big question left hanging after the first Fantastic Beasts movie: Who, really, is Credence Barebone? If you’ve seen the movie, you know the audience definitively does get that answer, but not in the way likely anyone expected.

British Film Institute Will No Longer Fund Films With Scarred Villains

Filmmakers who want to receive funding from the British Film Institute (BFI) will have to abandon an old trope, as the BFI will no longer fund movies featuring villains with scars, reports the Telegraph.

"Film is a catalyst for change," said BFI Deputy CEO Ben Roberts, "and that is why we are committing to not having negative representations depicted through scars or facial difference in the films we fund.”

Spotted by PC Gamer, Axe (at time of writing) is currently being sold on the Steam Community Market for a minimum of $21.71, with many players selling their cards at well above that price.

Is Disney's Streaming Service to Blame for Netflix's Marvel Cancelations?

Update: Daredevil has been canceled by Netflix, though both Marvel's The Punisher and Jessica Jones are slated for new seasons to debut in 2019. IGN's original article continues below.

While fans and critics are still buzzing about Season 3 of Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil, the future of Marvel’s collaboration with the streaming giant seems murky following the surprise cancellations of Iron Fist and Luke Cage earlier this month.

But there's more to this drama than meets the eye.

Anthem's Closed Alpha Begins Soon, Registration Now Open

BioWare is holding a closed alpha for its upcoming online multiplayer action RPG Anthem from December 8-9, and registration is open now until December 3.

Announced by EA, the alpha is part of EA’s Community Playtesting program, and will be available on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, though openings are predictably limited. Multiple sessions will be spread across the two days, and those who make it into the alpha can participate in one or all of them. As is typical for an alpha, this will be used to test out matchmaking, server loads, and more.

Registration is "first come first served” and if you get in, a confirmation will appear on the Community Playtesting site, and you will receive an email letting you know how to download the alpha.
