Ready Player One Doesn't Have a Post-Credits Scene, But Should It Have?

Ready Player One does not have a post-credits scene, despite the fact that it very well could have.

Ernest Cline, the author of Ready Player One, confirmed late last year that he's working on a sequel to his 2011 sci-fi novel. During a livestream interview (via ScreenRant) promoting the premiere of a trailer for Ready Player One, Cline revealed he's working on a sequel to his Ready Player One book. "It's true," he said. "I can't talk about it too much, but there's no better inspiration for a writer

Ready Player One: The 5 Biggest Book-to-Movie Changes

Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One, and the myriad Easter eggs therein, has finally hit theaters, and blessedly, is really, really fun.

Fans of the book should be delighted with how the OASIS is realized but, as with any adaptation, some facets of Ernest Cline’s world are significantly changed in the jump to the big screen. Watch the video above or read below to see what we're calling the five most noteworthy book vs. movie changes below.

Full spoilers follow, for both the book and film adaptation of Ready Player One.

While finding all three of OASIS creator James Halliday’s hidden keys is necessary to unlock his easter egg, the novel actually features even more obstacles for Parzival and the legions of gunters. The book’s hunt required Gunters to find a key, follow the clue included with that key to a matching gate, use it to enter the gate and complete a challenge of some kind, and repeat. In the book, those challenges are as follows:

Pokemon Go Switches to 8-Bit Graphics for April Fool’s Day

Pokemon Go is celebrating April Fool's Day by switching to 8-bit graphics, which players can experience in the game starting today.

"Experience Pokemon Go like never before with cutting-edge 8-bit graphics!" an announcement post on the game's official website humorously reads. "Registering approximately twice the definition of 4K, the chunky squares of each pixel provide realistic detail and unbelievable definition."

Check out the slideshow below for a look at the 8-bit aesthetic:

Pokemon Go's 8-bit style isn't the only recent addition to Niantic Labs' augmented reality mobile game. Earlier this week, the mythical Pokemon Mew was added to the game through a new quest system.

Trailblazers - F-Zero Meets Splatoon 2

What would happen if you mixed the fast-paced futuristic racing of F-Zero with the colorful co-operative play of Splatoon 2? Well, you'd probably end up with a game that's remarkably close to Trailblazers, a new racer that aims to combine a unique track-painting mechanic with a critical focus on strategic team-based racing.

Sounds pretty compelling right? Trailblazers is a passion project that stems from indie developer SuperGonk Games, which has an exceptional amount of talent on its side, ranging from the now-defunct studio Lionhead (Fable) as well as Codemasters and Bizarre Creations. Codemasters has rapidly become one of the most experienced racing-focused studios in the world, responsible for both the DiRT and GRID series, while Bizarre Creations brought us the highly popular Project Gotham Racing series. So when it comes to racing game experience, SuperGonk knows what it's doing.

Opinion: Even If You Hate EA, Don't Dismiss 'A Way Out'

EA’s public perception might be worse than ever. 2017 saw the company publicly criticized for Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s perceived pay-to-win multiplayer, Mass Effect: Andromeda’s quality issues at launch, and the sudden closure of Visceral Games. People saying they won’t buy another EA game aren’t uncommon, and while I generally agree that ‘vote with your wallet’ is a good practice, the people hurt the most by that when it comes to EA Originals (like Fe and A Way Out) are the independent developers making those games, not EA.

Spielberg's latest project has just hit theaters, and the verdict is now in. Ready Player One has received an A- CinemaScore, putting it on equal footing with past films like War Horse and Catch Me If You Can.

God of War Will Feature Performance Mode on PS4 Pro

Santa Monica Studio's new God of War game will feature a performance mode for those playing the game on PlayStation 4 Pro.

When asked by a fan on Twitter if players need to upgrade to a PS4 Pro to "fully enjoy the new God of War," game director Cory Barlog replied: "Nope, you don't have to, but if you do 4K is AMAZING, if you have a 4K TV, of course. If you don't, we have a performance mode that puts the extra power to good use and makes the game run so so smooth!"

Performance mode, which is available for select PS4 games, allows those with a PS4 Pro to opt for a smoother experience at lower resolution (e.g. playing the game in 1080p at 60fps instead of 4K at 30fps).

At long last, Marvel is finally filling that hole with the announcement that Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli are launching a new Fantastic Four comic in August. But as nice as it is to see Marvel's First Family returning to prominence again, it's hard to ignore the shabby way they've been treated over the last three years. Marvel has a long, uphill battle ahead of it if it's going to prove to readers that the Fantastic Four are truly a priority again.

Marvel hasn't published a dedicated Fantastic Four comic since canceling the previous series in May 2015. And while Human Torch and the Thing have popped up here and there in the years since, Reed Richards and his family have essentially been MIA since the end of Secret Wars. A series that once served as one of the fundamental pillars of the Marvel Universe quietly disappeared from the shelves. Not even the arrival of a new Fantastic Four movie was enough to revive the team's comic book prospects.

The Conjuring Universe Explained

Every studio wants its own shared movie universe, but building the next Marvel Cinematic Universe is no simple task. It seems like the only other studio to really figure it out so far is New Line, thanks to the Conjuring franchise. What began as an unexpectedly successful haunted house movie has ballooned into a full-fledged series with multiple sequels and spinoffs and a continuity all its own.

As we gear up for the release of The Nun later this year, now is probably a good time to brush up on your Conjuring -- and Annabelle! -- history and learn how all these horror films tie together to form a shared universe. Spoilers of course follow for all the films to date.

Dark Nights: Metal's 6 Biggest WTF Questions

DC just wrapped up the massive crossover that is Dark Nights: Metal, and while there was plenty to like about this epic storyline, there were also a few head-scratching moments over the course of the series. From Batman's bad behavior to a questionable Sandman cameo, these are the biggest questions we have in the aftermath of Metal.

The first issue of Metal turned a lot of heads thanks to its cliffhanger, which saw Batman turning to none other than Dream of the Endless for help in his quest. Considering how rarely characters from the Sandman franchise interact with the lowly heroes of the DCU, that was a pretty big deal.

And then... nothing. We barely caught a glimpse of Dream for the rest of the series. The end result of this latest DC/Sandman crossover is that a single book went missing in Dream's library. No doubt that loose end will pay off when DC launches the Neil Gaiman-curated Sandman imprint later this year. But in the context of Metal itself, that much ballyhooed Sandman crossover seems to have been much ado about nothing.

Last Jedi: You'd Be Surprised These Scenes Weren't CGI

These days it's generally assumed that anything in movies beyond the norm of reality -- and even then, some of the humdrum stuff too -- is achieved via CG. But that's certainly not the case, as Star Wars: The Last Jedi's special effects supervisor Chris Corbould could tell you. From Force-destroyed huts to scores of falling bombs and beyond, many of the effects in The Last Jedi were created the good old-fashioned practical way.

On the occasion of The Last Jedi's release on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital, I spoke to Corbould -- who has worked on everything from The Dark Knight to a bunch of James Bond movies to The Who's rock opera Tommy. He broke down some of the secrets of his trade...

Frozen zombies might be the focus for the next potential The Walking Dead spinoff series, at least according to executive producer Greg Nicotero.

In an interview with FANDOM, Nicotero revealed he would want a new spinoff to be located in a cold environment where the main characters would have to go up against frozen zombies. “The one thing that the comic book does great

when they introduce the cold weather and the winter,” Nicotero said. “I had even written some webisodes that took place with a frozen zombie herd."

Supernatural's Scooby-Doo Crossover is Just Crazy Enough to Work

After 13 seasons and 280 episodes, Supernatural has once again done the impossible -- pulling off a concept that's so inventive, ambitious, and downright insane, no other series would dare attempt it.

Episode 16 of Season 13, "ScoobyNatural" (airing March 29), is a crossover between the fan-favorite CW series and Warner Bros. Animation's classic animated franchise Scooby-Doo, and despite the sheer audacity of the idea, it succeeds on pretty much every level thanks to the efforts of the cast, writers Jim Krieg and Jeremy Adams, and the team of animators, who aren't afraid to blur the lines between Scooby-Doo's kid-friendly approach and Supernatural's decidedly more mature tone.

Director Provides Update on Live-Action Naruto Movie

Director Michael Gracey has provided an update on the potential live-action Naruto film, saying if series creator Masashi Kishimoto isn't on board, the project won't happen.

In an interview with Collider, Gracey explained he's concerned about getting the movie right and doing justice to the original anime. The filmmaker wants to closely work with Kishimoto on the project and won't do it unless Kishimoto is "excited" about the script.

"So many Hollywood adaptations of really popular manga series just don’t get it right, and for me what was really important was that if I was gonna do Naruto, I wanted to actually work with Kishimoto and get a script to a stage where he would look at it and be excited about realizing it," Gracey said. "Because no one knows the world better than the person who created it."

Agents of SHIELD Brings Yo-Yo One Step Closer to the Comics

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD hasn't been afraid to put its characters through the wringer in Season 5, and that goes double for Yo-Yo Rodriguez (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), who lost both arms during a brutal battle with General Hale's daughter, Ruby (Dove Cameron) in "All the Comforts of Home."

Yo-Yo's recovery process has been slow and heartbreaking to watch, but hope emerged in "Principia" when Mack (Henry Simmons) retrieved two robotic arms to help get his partner back in fighting shape, and in episode 16, "Inside Voices" (airing April 6), we'll see her put them to good use. Ahead of the episode's debut, IGN has an exclusive first look at Yo-Yo with her high-tech new arms below.

Hands-On with Valve's New Game, Artifact

While Valve’s next game isn’t what many people were hoping for when it was initially announced, it’s still shaping up to be a whole lot of fun. Artifact is a Dota 2-themed digital card game that breaks a lot of the norms you might expect from a Digital TCG, then injects it chock full of lore and love for the MOBA it’s built around.

We went and played Artifact at Valve and seriously enjoyed it, but for two very different reasons. Miranda has over 1,200 hours in Dota 2, while Tom has tried basically every digital card released in the last three years. Odds are you might also find yourself further to one side of that venn diagram, so here’s what we thought of our time with Artifact from each of those perspectives.

Hands-On with Valve's New Game, Artifact

While Valve’s next game isn’t what many people were hoping for when it was initially announced, it’s still shaping up to be a whole lot of fun. Westworld Season 2: New Trailer Offers a Glimpse of Shogun World

HBO has released a new trailer ahead of Westworld's second season - and there's a few (very) brief shots of Shogun World inside.

The trailer gives us more of a look at the seemingly impending human vs. host war, across locations familiar and not-so-familiar. Check it out below:

Set to a typically disarming cover of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box", the trailer eventually shows us a few small shots from the much talked-about second park - previously known as Samurai World - due to be revealed this season.

Disney's Biggest Action Movie Failures

It may be hard to remember now that Disney dominates the box office every year with Marvel and Star Wars movies, but there was a long time when House of Mouse couldn't make a successful action movie to save their lives.

Granted, there are exceptions to this rule. Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movies are blockbuster hits, the National Treasure movies made a killing, and the original 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is still a classic. But for the most part Disney usually seemed to have trouble making action-packed movies that could compete with other studios' kick-butt blockbusters, which probably explains why they felt the need to buy pre-existing franchises that already had a huge built-in audience.

Written by Scott Snyder | Drawn by Greg Capullo w/ Various Artists

"Dark Nights: Metal has certainly lived up to its name, cramming in all sorts of heavy metal-worthy imagery and crazy situations. That doesn't change one bit in the finale. The downside is that the series continues to be too overstuffed for its own good in its final chapter. As good a job as it does hyping up what's to come for the DCU, it doesn't quite carry the same weight as Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's best Batman stories." -Jesse
