Darkwing Duck Reboot in the Works at Disney Plus

A Darkwing Duck reboot is in early development and will be headed to Disney Plus.

According to Variety, the reboot has no writer currently attached but is reportedly being executive produced by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Alex McAtee of Point Grey Pictures, the production company behind Amazon’s The Boys, The Disaster Artist, Sausage Party, and This is the End.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/15/ducktales-exclusive-darkwing-duck-clip"]

Darkwing Duck originally premiered in 1991, telling the story of Drake Mallard, his adopted daughter Gosalyn, and his sidekick Launchpad McQuack, who was also in DuckTales. It ran for three seasons encompassing 91 episodes

The series riffed on superhero culture as Darkwing Duck and company routinely fought against evildoers. The series ended in 1992, with a number of comics published throughout the 1990s and 2010s, a Darkwing Duck NES game, and a cameo in the 2017 DuckTales reboot, which you can watch above.

There’s currently no word on who will voice Darkwing Duck or other series characters. Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Star Wars’ Hondo Ohnaka) originally voiced Darkwing Duck.

Disney Plus is rolling ahead with other continuations of cult favorite franchises, including an announced Willow sequel starring Warwick Davis. Lilo & Stitch: Jon M. Chu May Direct Live-Action Reboot

A live-action reboot of 2002's Lilo & Stitch was announced earlier this year and it seems Disney is circling John M. Chu to direct, According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Crazy Rich Asians director is in negotiations with Disney to direct a live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch for the company, but it's unclear if this movie would go to theaters or straight to Disney+. We learned earlier this year that this Lilo & Stitch will be a live-action/CGI hybrid movie and filmed in Hawaii, which is also where the movie takes place. It was reported at the time that the original voice of Stitch, Chris Sanders, was expected to reprise the role for this film. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-upcoming-disney-live-action-remake&captions=true"] THR's report says that Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of production company Rideback are going to produce the movie with Rideback's Ryan Halprin set to executive produce. Rideback is the company behind Disney's live-action Aladdin remake, which earned over $1 billion at the box office in 2019 and secured a green light for a sequel. Mike Van Waes has written a draft for this Lilo & Stitch remake, but it's important to note that the movie hasn't officially been given the green light and is still in development. Lilo & Stitch is about a lonely girl named Lilo who discovers a blue alien named Stitch on the run from intergalactic forces. The two become friends and Lilo tries to stop the intergalactic forces from ripping Stitch out of her Ohana, which means family. Oh, and there's a lot of Elvis Presley music too. When the original animated movie released in 2002, it grossed $273 million at the box office from a budget of $80 million. This success led to video games, sequels, spin-offs, and an animated TV series for Disney Channel. Chris Pratt Joins Cast of Thor: Love and Thunder

Chris Pratt will reportedly reprise his role as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder. Pratt, who leads the MCU's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, will join Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Christian Bale in the Taika Waititi-directed sequel. Waititi will also once again voice Thor's alien pal Korg. Peter Quill and Thor enjoyed a friendly rivalry in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the latter of which saw the heavyset Bro Thor leave his fellow Asgardians behind on Earth under the leadership of Valkyrie to join the Guardians. The Hollywood Reporter implies other members of the Guardians could appear in Thor: Love and Thunder. According to THR's Heat Vision newsletter, "Love and Thunder is due to shoot in Australia in January, and Pratt will do a short round of additional photography for his sci-fi movie The Tomorrow War before heading to the land Down Under." While we don't know which character Christian Bale is playing, we do have some theories about the role. Black Panther 2: Marvel Won't Use a Digital Double of Chadwick Boseman

A Marvel Studios executive producer has confirmed that Disney will not use a digital double of late actor Chadwick Boseman in a Black Panther sequel.

In an interview with Clarin, executive producer Victoria Alonso dismissed the idea of digitally recreating Boseman, who died from colon cancer in August at the age of 43.

“No. There's only one Chadwick, and he's not with us. Our king, unfortunately, has died in real life, not just in fiction, and we are taking a little time to see how we return to history and what we do to honor this chapter of what has happened to us that was so unexpected, so painful, so terrible, really," Alonso said.

Alonso, who has been with Marvel Studios since Phase One of the MCU, said of Boseman that he "was not only a wonder of being human every day that we spend together the five years that we spend together, but it also seems to me that as a character what he did elevated us as a company, and has left his moment in history."

Alonso added that no decision has been made yet about what Marvel will do with the Black Panther franchise now: "I know that sometimes two months go by or three months go by in production and one says, already, it was a long time. But it is not a long time, we have to think carefully about what we are going to do, and how, and think about how we are going to honor the franchise.”

[widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=how-the-mcus-phase-4-could-introduce-the-x-men&captions=true"]

Using digital effects to recreate Boseman's T'Challa certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility, considering Disney utilized CGI to portray deceased actors like Peter Cushing (Grand Moff Tarkin) in Rogue One and a younger version of Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Rogue One.

Disney may be even more hesitant to use a CGI double since various Black Panther actors have expressed their dismay over how to continue the franchise without Boseman.

"We're just still mourning Chad, so it's not something I even want to think about," Wright said when asked about reprising her role as Shuri, Princess of Wakanda, for the Black Panther sequel. "The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange. We're just grieving at the moment, so it's trying to find the light in the midst of it."

Black Panther 2 was originally scheduled to be released in 2022, though, with complications stemming from COVID, Disney’s schedule is likely to be altered in the future.

Canadian news outlets are reporting a police situation taking place at the building where Ubisoft Montreal is based. Montreal PD has confirmed there is a police operation in the sector where the offices are located but didn’t provide any further details. IGN reached out to the Montreal Police’s media box where an automated briefing said a “police operation” is happening at the location of Saint-Laurent and St-Vieateur, but that they are still verifying the situation. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Main Location Is a Huge Historical Coincidence

Ravensthorpe, the Viking settlement that players build and customise in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is a fictional place invented by Ubisoft’s writers. Except it isn't all that fictional after all: Ravensthorpe is actually a real place in England, and the developers had no idea until a few months before the game launched.

In AC Valhalla, the fictional settlement of Ravensthorpe is located in the middle of England’s central kingdom, Mercia. "We chose the name Ravensthorpe because Eivor's clan was the Raven clan, and Thorpe means 'farmland'... and we set the settlement in the middle of Mercia so it was centrally located on the map,” explained Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Narrative Director, Darby McDevitt, in a thread about the discovery on Reddit.

Ravensthorpe RealThe real Ravensthorpe, meanwhile, is a village in Northamptonshire. It may not have originated as a Viking settlement, but in its position just slightly south east of Coventry, it is pretty much in the middle of England. “We had NO idea that there was a real Ravensthorpe in exactly this location in real life, until a few months ago,” said McDevitt. “Granted there is no river running by the real Ravensthorpe, but a lot can happen in 1000 years. Rivers change courses.”

Ravensthorpe ACVIt’s an absurd coincidence, and one that certainly has amused the Reddit users who brought the topic up. Northamptonshire. However, this village isn’t the only place called Ravensthorpe in England; type the name into Wikipedia and you’ll easily find that Ravensthorpe is also a district in West Yorkshire, an area in Peterborough, and a historic manor in North Yorkshire. None of these appear to be Viking/Assassin settlements established by Eivor, though.

Future State: All of DC's Superman Family Comics in February 2021

DC Comics has begun revealing tis lineup of February 2021 titles, including the second half of DC's ambitious Future State event. IGN can exclusively reveal the cover art and plot details for the entire Superman Family line in February. Check out the slideshow gallery below to get a closer look at these new books, as DC continues revealing the fates of Superman and Wonder Woman a decade in the future and beyond. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=future-state-all-of-dcs-superman-family-comics-in-february-2021&captions=true"] In case you missed the original announcement, Future State is a massive, two month-long crossover taking place in January and February 2021, immediately after DC's Dark Nights: metal crossover ends on January 6. The crossover will flash forward ten years into the future of the DC Universe. In this future, Kal-El has been exiled from Earth, leaving his son Jon to take up the Superman mantle. Meanwhile, a new Amazon heroine named Yara Flor will become Wonder Woman though Future State will also focus on fellow Wonder Women Diana of Themyscira and Nubia. As these solicitations show, Future State will even venture further down the DC timeline. Future State: House of El will showcase the descendants of Superman, while Future State: Imperious Lex pits Lex Luthor against an aged Superman and Lois Lane on the distant world of Lexor. Future State is also introducing a brand new version of Batman, one who will fill the void left after Bruce Wayne's apparent death. That character will be the focal point of John Ridley and Nick Derington's Batman story. With DC revealing its February lineup today, that means fans probably only have one more month until they learn what DC has planned for March 2021. While the DC line will return to the present day in March, we don't know how exactly the company plans on moving forward after Future State or what monthly books they'll be publishing at that point. That said, we can probably expect some sort of major relaunch in the vein of 2016's DC Rebirth, though we now know Death Metal won't rewrite DC continuity in the vein of past Crisis events. Wonder Woman 1984: Warner Bros Reportedly Considering Delay or Early Streaming Debut

Warner Bros. execs are reportedly reconsidering release plans for Wonder Woman 1984. According to Variety, sources with insider knowledge have claimed that the studio is debating whether to delay WW84 to the summer of 2021 or theatrically release the Patty Jenkins sequel on December 25, as planned, before making it available to stream on HBO Max in January. Bloomberg reported on the streaming option, saying "WarnerMedia is in the final stages of deliberations over the fate of the movie." Throughout all of the changes, it has been made repeatedly clear that Wonder Woman 1984 would not skip its theatrical release altogether, with Jenkins reaffirming this decision after the latest scheduling shift, saying, "I know how important it is to bring this movie to you on a big screen when all of us can share the experience together, [so] I'm hopeful you won't mind waiting just a little bit longer." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/22/wonder-woman-1984-official-trailer-2"] Studios have been looking at alternative ways of releasing major blockbusters during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but the most popular strategy appears to be delaying releases in the hopes of the theatrical experience improving. Disney, however, took a slightly different approach with one of its most anticipated blockbusters, Mulan, which released on Disney+ with an additional $30 price tag. Wonder Woman 1984 was originally slated to open in theaters on November 1, 2019, before getting postponed to June 5, 2020, and then to August 14, 2020. As time moved on this year, the movie's release shifted to October 2, but the pandemic caused Warner Bros. to rethink their plans yet again, with an announcement in September revealing that the movie had been pushed back to Christmas Day. Christopher Nolan Doesn't Think Not Being Able to Hear His Movies' Dialogue Is a Big Deal

Christopher Nolan has addressed some of the complaints that he has received for his movies' sound mixing, saying that the critique leaves him "a little shocked to realize how conservative people are when it comes to sound." According to IndieWire, Nolan discusses the sound design of his movies in Tom Shone's new book The Nolan Variations, which serves as a deep-dive into the director's movies and methods. In one excerpt, Nolan highlighted the audience reaction to the soundscape of his 2014 space drama Interstellar, as he admitted that he received complaints from his filmmaking peers about the inaudibility of the dialogue. "We got a lot of complaints," Nolan candidly revealed, opening up about the movie's critical reception. "I actually got calls from other filmmakers who would say, 'I just saw your film, and the dialogue is inaudible.' Some people thought maybe the music's too loud, but the truth was it was kind of the whole enchilada of how we had chosen to mix it." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/02/a-brief-history-of-time-in-christopher-nolan-movies"] He continued: "It was a very, very radical mix. I was a little shocked to realize how conservative people are when it comes to sound. Because you can make a film that looks like anything, you can shoot on your iPhone, no one's going to complain. But if you mix the sound a certain way, or if you use certain sub-frequencies, people get up in arms." When Interstellar hit screens in 2014, many moviegoers complained that the dialogue was unintelligible in parts, with criticism alternately being laid at the feet of either the post-production sound mixers or the cinemas in which it was being shown. Nolan later defended the "adventurous and creative" sound mix, assuring audiences that everything was being presented exactly as he intended. Nolan's use of cinematic sound as part of a movie's storytelling has divided critics and cinemagoers for many years, notably with Bane's dialogue in The Dark Knight Rises. When the Bat-flick was released in 2012, some viewers criticised the sound of Tom Hardy's muffled voice beneath his character's mask, with reports claiming that people at Warners Bros. wanted "Nolan to change the sound mix." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=tenet-images&captions=true"] Nolan's latest movie Tenet was accompanied by a score that was composed by Ludwig Göransson, who revealed that he made use of the director's own breath in the creation of the movie's soundscape. If you didn't catch the movie during its short theatrical run, then you can always listen to Tenet's breathy soundtrack when the movie arrives on 4K, Blu-ray, and Digital this December. PS5 Suffering From a Download Queue Bug

PS5 is suffering from a bug that causes games and apps to be caught in a "Queued for Download" or error state, with the only current fix seemingly to factory reset the console. The bug – which has been suffered by at least three members of IGN staff, among many reports popping up – appears to occur when a product is first set to download. The bug can then seemingly take two forms, either listing the game/app as Queued for Download, or as having suffered a download error. Both will prompt you to check the Downloads menu, which then shows nothing. The upshot is that your game is stuck in limbo - it won't download, and it can't be cancelled and redownloaded. In all cases among IGN staff, the PS5 library will show that you own the game/app, but checking the PS5 Store will say that you don't, asking you to purchase it. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/ps5-4-things-we-love-4-things-we-dont"] Large numbers of reports have centred on the bug hitting the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (with the PS4 version seemingly downloading as normal). Two IGN staff members, myself included, have suffered the problem with that game. Another IGN staff member encountered the issue when trying to download Godfall, and we've seen reports of the bug hitting Demon's Souls, Spider-Man: Remastered, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and the Disney+ app. So far, the bug has seemingly only affect games or apps with a specific PS5 version. Activision is recommending a factory reset to those who get in touch about the issue regarding Call of Duty, and that did solve the problem for an IGN staff member. Other users have reported that a factory reset solved the problem, too. Many will be loathed to wipe their console and download their games again, but no other workaround has yet been found at time of writing. Sony has not yet commented on the issue - we've contacted the company for comment. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joe Skrebels is IGN's Executive Editor of News. Follow him on Twitter. Nintendo Switch Is the Best-Selling Console For Almost Two Years Straight

It’s hard to overstate just what an incredible year Nintendo is having with the Nintendo Switch. The Kyoto-based company has reported its strongest October sales yet for the console after announcing more than 735,000 Switch and Switch Lites sold. This is a 136% increase year-over-year. According to NPD, Nintendo has achieved the second-highest October sales of any video game console in history, second only to the Wii in October 2008. In a year where two new consoles from Xbox and PlayStation just debuted, Nintendo has recorded the best-selling video game console for 23 straight months. “Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite continue to provide one-of-a-kind gaming experiences on the TV or on the go, allowing holiday shoppers the choice of a video game system that matches their lifestyle,” Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser said in a statement. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-top-25-switch-games-fall-2020-update&captions=true"] The strength of the Nintendo Switch, especially in 2020, has allowed the company to raise its profit forecasts from 300 billion yen to 450 billion, a 50% increase. The Switch has surpassed the lifetime sales of the NES, and there’s no indication that these numbers will slow over the holidays. “Seeing encouraging sales growth like this in the fourth October of Nintendo Switch proves to us that the system has many more years and great games to come,” Bowser added. The Switch hardware has been buoyed by a killer app released earlier this year you might recognize. Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which has now sold 26.04 million copies in just six months. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now the second best-selling Switch game behind only Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/09/26/nintendo-switch-lite-review"] Amidst rumors that Nintendo is considering an upgraded Switch model sometime in the future, the company’s fortunes with the current Switch and the Switch Lite appear to be just fine. A more in-depth analysis will be provided when NPD releases their October 2020 report Friday morning. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. Kim is a reporter for IGN.

Ghost of Tsushima Becomes the Fastest-Selling Original PS4 Exclusive

Ghost of Tsushima has set a new record as PlayStation’s fastest-selling original PS4 exclusive, with more than 5 million copies sold since its release in July, according to PlayStation Worldwide Studios head Herman Hulst.

It’s a strong showing for developer Sucker Punch, who has long had a tight relationship with Sony thanks to their work on the Infamous and Sly Cooper franchises.

By comparison, Guerilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn managed to sell approximately 3.4 million copies in roughly the same four-month window. The Last of Us Part II managed to sell 4 million copies in its first three days making it the fastest-selling non-original PS4 exclusive.

tsushima 1

“We're thrilled and absolutely blown away by all of the support!” the official Sucker Punch Twitter account posted. “Thank you to everyone who has played Ghost of Tsushima.”

Ghost of Tsushima received strong reviews for its visually striking world and combat, with IGN giving it a nine out of 10. Sucker Punch has given players a reason to return to Ghost of Tsushima as well with the new Legends co-op raid that lets you and three friends team up and utilize mystical powers not seen in the base game.

How to Catch 10 Fish with a Pro Fishing Rod in Fortnite

Whilst you may have thought that obtaining a Pro Fishing Rod might be somewhat challenging, you'll be surprised at just how simple the task can be if you know what you are looking for. So in order to find a Pro Fishing Rod, we have detailed the two best methods that will have you fishing in no time. The first method is arguably the more challenging, as it relies very heavily on luck, you'll have a very small chance at finding a Pro Fishing Rod in random chests or amongst fishing rod barrels by the lakes. While you may get lucky and find one early on, the Pro Fishing Rods are considerably rare and can take quite some time to find. Otherwise, for those not looking to leave it up to luck, obtaining a Pro Fishing Rod can actually be quite simple and fast. To do so, pick up any standard Fishing Rod and make your way to one of the many Upgrade Benches that you will find scattered across the map. With 100 Wood, 100 Metal, and 100 Brick on hand, you'll have the option to upgrade your Fishing Rod into the Pro model. Now in order to complete the Week 2 XP Xtravanganza Challenge, simply take your newly acquired Pro Fishing Rod to the nearest lake and start catching fish. You'll need to catch a total of 10 fish in order to complete the challenge!

PUBG Mobile Gets Special India-Only Version After Being Banned in the Country

PUBG Mobile will soon return to India after a recent country-wide ban that prevented players from accessing the game. PUBG Mobile was banned in India back in September and not long after, the company behind the battle royale game, PUBG Corporation, began figuring out how to get the game back into the hands of players in the country. As reported by TechCrunch, PUBG is set to make a return sometime in the future as a new game called PUBG Mobile India, and this version of the game will be exclusive to the country. PUBG Corporation did not share any details about when it plans to actually release the game, though. It did, however, announce that it and its parent company, KRAFTON, plan to invest $100 million in the Indian video games, esports, entertainment, and information technology markets. It will employ over 100 people in the country as part of this investment as well. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/03/21/pubg-graphics-comparison-ios-mobile-vs-pc"] "Thanks to overwhelming community enthusiasm for PUBG esports in India, the company also plans to make investments by hosting India-exclusive esports events, which will feature the biggest tournaments, the largest prize pools, and the best tournament productions," PUBG Corporation said in a statement to TechCrunch. India's capital, New Delhi, recently banned over 200 apps with ties to China, which included PUBG Mobile, over concerns of security. Shortly after this ban, PUBG Mobile cut ties with its Chinese investment arm, Tencent, in India. According to TechCrunch, to further alleviate concerns, PUBG Corporation moved its PUBG Mobile data and processing to Microsoft's Azure service. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/05/igns-2019-best-mobile-game-nominees"] "Privacy and security of Indian player data being a top priority for PUBG Corporation, the company will conduct regular audits and verifications on the storage systems holding Indian users' personally identifiable information to reinforce security and ensure that their data is safely managed," the company said in a statement. It's no surprise that PUBG Corporation did all it could to get the game back in India. As noted by games analyst Daniel Ahmad, PUBG Mobile was the number one grossing mobile game in India, and it had over 50 million active users. For more PUBG Mobile, check out our thoughts on the game in our PUBG Mobile review, and then check out this PUBG Mobile x BLACKPINK collaboration. If you're a lapsed player, check out what you might have missed in the massive PUBG Mobile 1.0 update that hit the game in September. PS5 Scalpers Selling Consoles Close to $2000

The PlayStation 5 is finally out and scalpers are already selling the new Sony console for well over its standard price, with some price tags stretching as high as $1700. We just saw this happen with Microsoft's new consoles, the Xbox Series X and Series S, so it's not much of a surprise. The PS5 sold out the night preorders went live and it continues to sell out any time new preorders are available. You can't buy a PS5 in stores right now unless you have a preorder for one either, so naturally, those chasing down the console are looking online. Scalpers are taking advantage of this demand by selling the PS5 at prices two and three times the standard retail price. Here's what eBay looks like today. PS5 Scalpers on Ebay With Amazon seemingly not selling any PS5s right now, eBay seems to be where the scalpers are trying to sell their consoles. These third-party sellers are free to make the price whatever they want, which is why we're seeing prices as high as $1749. Meanwhile, official online retailers like Walmart, GameStop, and even Sony continue to announce that more stock will be available soon, though, and they'll be selling the console for its standard price. Here's where to buy a PS5 at launch, though the available stock remains elusive even on launch day. However, the guide is updated regularly with all the latest official retail listing. If you're left without a PS5 on its launch day, you should know that Sony has no plans to abandon its PS4 owners anytime soon. The company recently said that it will likely take three years to fully transition from PS4 to PS5. If you do manage to get a PS5 today, here's how to transfer data from your PS4 to your PS5, and heads up: use a LAN cable to do that if you can. FIFA 21 to Add Tools to Curb Spending, Playing Time and More

In an era rife with concerns about in-game spending and predatory marketplaces, EA is actually taking steps to restrict how much time and money players can spend in FIFA 21.

According to Eurogamer, EA shared details about FIFA 21’s new “Playtime Tool” in a patch notes blog post, describing it as a “new suite of tools that enable players to have more control and visibility over how they play.”

The Playtime Tool essentially acts as a monitor for how many FIFA Points (but not real-world money) and playtime someone spends in-game, plus ways to watch out for communication issues and gating games by their ESRB rating.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/06/fifa-21-review"]

Players can set a limit on how many matches and FIFA Points you purchase, as well as how many FIFA Ultimate Team packs you can open with FUT Coins or FIFA Points.

There’s even some out-of-game functionality as well. The Playtime Tool can monitor how many FIFA Points you buy outside of the game (such as in the PlayStation Store) and count that towards your total. You’ll probably want to be extra careful though since you won’t receive a notification outside of FIFA.

The Playtime Tool is available on PC starting today and will be available on consoles on November 17. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-fifa-game-review-ever&captions=true"]

This is all part of EA’s Positive Play project, EA’s public-facing campaign to address toxicity and other harmful elements of the gaming community they cater to.

"Play should always be fun, so we're amping up the information and tools to help you play on your terms," EA told Eurogamer. "Back in June, we rolled out the Positive Play Charter - an updated set of community guidelines designed to make our games and services more inclusive, safe, balanced and fair. This is another step we're taking to make play more positive."

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/12/nba-2k21-next-gen-launch-trailer"]

Pay-to-win, loot boxes, and other gambling mechanics have become a huge sore spot for the games industry and various governments around the world. The UK government is running surveys of the gaming community on what they think about loot boxes, which will inform a review of the 2005 Gambling Act. Surveys are being accepted until November 22. England’s top mental health nurse has also criticized gambling mechanics in games like FIFA and others, calling for “fair and realistic spending limits” on loot boxes.

Earlier this year, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) announced a new label for its game ratings that describes if a game has loot boxes or other gambling mechanics. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joseph Knoop is a writer/producer for IGN.

Monster Hunter Director Is 'Already Writing' More for the Movie Universe

Monster Hunter director Paul W.S. Anderson has teased the possibility of future sequels being developed in the same universe as his upcoming movie. In an interview with Total Film magazine (via GamesRadar), Anderson spoke about his commitment to the Monster Hunter franchise and the long-running potential of Screen Gems' movie adaptation, which is loosely based on Capcom's bestselling video game series of the same name. He suggested that the expansive world of dangerous and powerful monsters could be explored further. "I've been working on Monster Hunter for 11 years," Anderson revealed before speaking about the vast array of monsters in the movie, which he says are "built to a greater level of detail" than anything in Jurassic World. "There's hundreds of monsters [in the game]. I can only use five or six of them in the movie. So it's a big, fun world that I think we’ve only just started to scratch the surface of." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/14/monster-hunter-exclusive-official-trailer"] In the same interview, Milla Jovovich, who is leading the cast as Artemis, an original character created for the Monster Hunter movie, revealed that Anderson is "already writing" something else for the movie universe. "We would love to make another one," she added. "Hopefully people are going to love it because I know Paul would love to make a sequel. I mean, he's already writing something." Anderson worked closely with Capcom director Kaname Fujioka to make sure that the Monster Hunter movie canonically fit within the franchise, carving out a space for the story that takes place immediately after the events of Monster Hunter World but before Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, with a brand new protagonist who is from our world rather than a native of the realm of the game. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=monster-hunter-movie-images&captions=true"] Jovovich stars alongside Tony Jaa, Diego Boneta, Ron Perlman and T.I. Half-Life: Alyx Now Has Developer Commentary

Valve has added over three hours of developer commentary to Half-Life: Alyx. Sections of the commentary can be activated using floating headsets that have been added to Half-Life: Alyx's levels. Players need to simply pick the headphones up and place them on their heads to begin audio playback of the commentary. Each headset is located near one of 147 different points of interest that members of the development team will provide insight on. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/23/the-first-17-minutes-of-half-life-alyx"] Valve notes that the concluding weeks of Half-Life: Alyx's development was done during lockdown; developer commentary was originally intended to ship with the game at launch, but constraints meant it was delayed until now. Commentary has also had to be recorded by staff in their homes rather than at Valve's recording studio. For players to activate developer commentary, they will need to start a new game with commentary enabled. Valve warns that the commentary does feature "significant" spoilers, so is best saved for a second play-through. Marvel's WandaVision Gets January 2021 Premiere Date

Marvel's WandaVision will premiere on January 15, 2021 on Disney+. The series – centred on Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) – was expected to release in December of this year, but a Twitter announcement revealed the new date, and a motion poster for the show. The announcement means 2020 is the first year without an MCU-related release since 2009. Set after Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision will see Scarlet Witch and Vision living as a married couple in the suburban town of Westview - which seems to be a mysterious world that references multiple eras of US sitcoms, beginning with a full black-and-white episode filmed in front of a studio audience. That sitcom set-up won't be all we see however, with multiple members of the cast and crew explaining that it also includes full action scenes - actress Teyonnah Parris explained that the show is like "six Marvel movies packed into what they’re presenting as a sitcom.". We also know that part of the pitch for the series centred on an exploration of Scarlet Witch's full powers, which makes it feel more likely than ever that WandaVision will be the MCU's version of the House of M comic book event. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/11/new-wandavision-details-revealed-ign-now"] It's not been made clear why WandaVision has been pushed into January, after Disney previously listed it as a December 2020 project, but COVID-19 related production delays have altered much of Disney's slate this year. WandaVision is the first of 8 planned series that will act as part of the MCU, tying into the movies. Following WandaVision (which ties directly into Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness), we'll also see The Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk. PS5 Guides: How to Transfer Data, Use 3D Audio, Game Presets, and More

It's finally PS5 time. Sony's new console boasts a more immersive experience with 3D audio and the DualSense's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, but that's not all that's new. The UI has undergone a significant refresh with the introduction of cards (and integrated game help), a customizable control center, new shortcut options, and new ways to play with friends via share screen and game share. Cards and Game Help Explained

Cards are one of the newest features on the PS5. They provide a slew of information such as party related updates (ex. voice chat and screen share), news, game help, recent captures, trophy progress, and more. The game help cards are exclusive to those who have a PlayStation Plus membership. card overview Game help comes in the form of cards associated with a game objective, such as getting every collectible in an area or finishing a quest. Tap the PlayStation button, while in-game, to pull up the cards. Select a card to see the objective and select the objective to watch a video showing the solution; sometimes explainer text accompanies these videos. These clips can be viewed full-screen, overlayed, or pinned to the side. Unfortunately, you cannot play the game while the clip is playing so you'll need to watch the solution and then continue. Even if you don't want game help, these game help cards can help you track your progress and even execute a form of fast travel. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 Script Is Completed, Reveals James Gunn

James Gunn has confirmed that the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has now been "written," as the project continues to make steady progress in the wake of his rehiring last year. The filmmaker, who guided the first two installments in the Guardians franchise to box office success, shared a fresh update about the third movie on Twitter, assuring fans that steady progress was being made on the project. Speaking about the sequel, Gunn confirmed that the script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 had been completed and that the production heads had also been chosen. In a follow-up tweet, Gunn revealed that "very little" had changed with the script from the original version that he penned before being fired and later rehired by Disney to write and direct the franchise's third installment. This isn't very surprising as, prior to his reinstatement, MCU architect Kevin Feige confirmed that Gunn's draft script would be used for the movie, regardless of the director's involvement. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/04/20/no-guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-4-for-james-gunn"] Although Gunn is back on board for the third volume, he's previously indicated that this next movie will "probably" be the final one with him sat in the director's chair and that it will "probably be the last with the current team" of Peter Quill (aka Star-Lord), Rocket, Groot, Drax, Gamora, Nebula and Mantis, though he cautiously added that "you never know." At one point, Guardians Vol. 3 was meant to be the first, if not one of the first, titles in Marvel's Phase 4 line-up. However, with the deck being reshuffled, and Gunn directing The Suicide Squad for DC before Vol 3., the next Guardians flick failed to make it into the final slate. Fortunately, it sounds like it'll be worth the wait, as Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, has packed on the praise for the third movie's script. PS5 Comes With a (Literally) Game-Changing Feature for People Who Invert Y-Axis

For most of my life, every time I've started a new game, the first thing I've had to do is make sure the Y-axis is inverted. I don't know why my brain likes to push down to look up, it just does, and it causes a consistent burst of faff before I can get to any shiny new game I've bought. PS5 may, finally, have gone some way towards fixing that issue. The solution comes in the form of PlayStation 5's Game Presets menu, a settings option that allows you to choose your preferred experience in PS5 games from a number of categories, which is then applied as best as possible to every game you play. That menu includes game difficulties, subtitles, performance vs. resolution modes, and preferred audio languages – all options regularly fiddled with before play can really begin. But the option I truly love is being able to choose to invert the Y-axis in both first person and third person viewpoints automatically. So far I've used it to fix Astro's Playroom, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Demon's Souls, and I've been delighted every time I confirm it's worked again. To be fair, I actually only discovered the menu when I realised Astro's Playroom doesn't actually include a Y-axis preference option, which briefly made me absolutely furious until I was told about the beautiful Elysian Fields of Game Presets. In hindsight, it feels like another one of Astro's attempts to teach me a little something about my new console (although I'm not convinced it's an intentional one in this case). [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/06/playstation-5-review"] As covered in our PS5 guide, the menu is found in Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings > Game Presets, and will attempt to apply all of your choices as accurately as possible, depending on the game in question. If you find your choices aren't working out for you, Game Presets will only attempt to change the settings when you first start the game, so you can tinker with them and not have them switch back by accident. It may sound like a small thing – mainly because it is a small thing – but after years of low-level annoyance at starting every game with a boring trudge to the options menu, it's genuinely refreshing to see a little bit of thinking applied to how to stop that. I'm sure the same will go for many fellow inverters, not to mention subtitlers, language changers, hard moders, and other similarly inconvenienced players. Forget haptic feedback, this is my next-gen. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joe Skrebels is IGN's Executive Editor of News. Follow him on Twitter. Have a tip for us? Every Gun in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Uses PS5 Haptic Feedback Differently

Every gun in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will quite literally feel different thanks to the haptic feedback of the PS5's DualSense controller. In an interview with GameSpot, Treyarch lead game designer Tony Flame spoke about how the controller's adaptive trigggers and haptics bring realism to Cold War's arsenal. "The DualSense controller is pretty awesome. It's got new haptic feedback so when you're pulling the trigger, it's shaking, every time a gun fires there is a little motor in there that's firing every time," Flame explains. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/the-first-15-minutes-of-call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-gameplay-pc-ultra-4k-60"] Seemingly, the controller has allowed Treyarch to modify the weapon sensitivity with each gun so that the DualSense trigger reflects how it feels in reality. "There is sensitivity on the trigger that represents the trigger pressure on a real weapon. All of that has been tuned in the game for each individual weapon. So it's quite a lot to take in, but it's pretty awesome, and it gives the guns a feeling like they've never had before." In other Black Ops Cold War news, check out our guide to understanding all of the game's special editions, so you can figure out which version of the new Call of Duty is worth picking up at launch. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13, 2020 for Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Deathloop: PS5 Store Reveals New May Release Date

Deathloop will now arrive on May 21, 2021, according to the PS5's Store. Arkane's time-looping FPS - which was delayed earlier this year - has now got a pre-order page on PS5 that lists its release as May 21. That's in-line with its previous window of Q2 2021. That release date is presumably for both its PS5 and PC versions, which were originally due to drop at the same time. The game is a timed console exclusive on PS5, which Xbox will honour even after agreeing to an acquisition of Arkane's parent company. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/16/deathloop-two-birds-one-stone-gameplay-trailer"] Pre-orders are open for the game (with a discount on the PS5 store), with early purchase earning you:
  • Unique weapon: Royal Protector Machete (PS5 exclusive)

A Deluxe Edition is also available, coming packaged with the game plus the following:

PSA: Use a LAN Cable to Transfer PS4 Games to PS5

If you're getting a PS5 today, and you want to transfer PS4 games to it, I cannot impress upon you how much quicker it will be to use a LAN cable. Seriously, do it. Moving games, save data and user profiles from old to new Sony console is a pretty simple process, as our guide on the PS4-PS5 data transfer process shows, but it can also be a slow one if you choose to take the wireless route. I was lucky enough to get a PS5 yesterday, and immediately set about getting my in-progress PS4 games onto the new hardware. I powered on my PS4 and PS5, made sure I was properly signed in on both, connected them to the same network, booted the data transfer app and – because I was too lazy to go looking for an ethernet cable and then plug it in twice – chose the wi-fi transfer process. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/06/playstation-5-review"] I had picked Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Fall Guys, Overwatch, Fuser, FIFA 21, and Marvel's Avengers (I know, I know) to transfer across - meaning several hundred gigabytes of data, all told. Setting up the wi-fi transfer gave me grim news - it would be 27 whole hours until all my games made their way across. Fortunately, my laziness comes second to my impatience. I untangled the rat king of cables I have shoved in a box for just such an occasion, found a suitable one, plugged it in to the back of both consoles, and set up the process again in exactly the same way. My old games were on my new console in less than 3 hours. This isn't revelatory news – we all know wired connections are more efficient than wireless – I just wasn't it expecting to be that much more efficient. If you're getting your PS5 today, consider this an old-fashioned PSA logline: 'If You're Able, Use a Cable'. One issue that's harder to solve is how much space those games are taking up - my PS5 is almost full already. Thankfully, that storage space is one of the few issues we found with Sony's new machine, as you can fiund out in our glowing PS5 review.
