Get Even Wants to Break Your Brain and Make You Cry

Some games refuse to be described in a single sentence. Get Even, from Polish studio The Farm 51, is definitely one of them.

It’s a first-person shooter, but it relies far more on exploration than blasting; firefights are few and far between. It makes a point to frighten players with the occasional tried-and-true jump scare but overall Get Even leans much more heavily on psychological horror for its chills. It’s an investigative thriller with what initially seems like a dash of simple sci-fi shtick, but it had twisted my brain into a pretzel after the first 60 minutes.

Get Even is all these things, which is what made pitching the game to publishers very difficult.

“‘So it’s a shooter? It’s a first-person shooter?’” says producer Lionel Lovisa, mimicking the kinds of questions the Get Even team were fielding from potential publishers. “And you say, ‘No.”

Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk Will be Unconventional

Christopher Nolan's next film, World War II epic Dunkirk, will tell its story in an unconventional way.

During an interview with Premiere, as translated by The Playlist, Nolan revealed that the exposition-filled dialogue in the first trailer has been dialed back, and that Dunkirk will be told through the perspective of three different British soldiers.

The film will focus on the sky with Tom Hardy manning an air plane, the beach with Harry Styles, and the sea with the navy (Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy). Nolan explained how the events of Dunkirk was different for those stuck on the beach, as they had to wait a week before being rescued while those stuck on ships were able to get out within a single day.

Old Man Logan Takes on Hulks of the Future

Writer Ed Brisson (Bullseye, Iron Fist) and artist Mike Deodato (Original Sin, Avengers) are taking over as the new creative team of the ongoing comic series Old Man Logan at Marvel Comics, replacing writer Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino starting with Issue #15.

The new duo will begin a new phase of Old Man Logan's life, who is currently stuck in the normal Marvel Universe instead of his hellish alternate future known as the Wastelands. The story will see Logan take on Maestro, a future super-villain version of the Hulk, and the Hulk Gang from the Wastelands.

“From Logan's perspective, there's now a threat of Hulks from the future who're here, who shouldn't be here, which sets his own anxieties and fears off,” Brisson told Gamespot. “He's only recently begun to accept that his future isn't this world's future. And now that future has landed right on his doorstep. How does he cope? For Logan, it's as though he's got to relive the same nightmare over and over.”

Injustice Comic Writer Cancels Convention Appearance in Protest of U.S. Immigration Policy Changes

Australian comic book writer Tom Taylor has canceled his Emerald City Comic-Con appearance and will not be attending anymore conventions in the U.S. for the foreseeable future because of President Trump’s recent immigration policy changes.

Taylor made a name for himself writing Injustice at DC Comics, a comic that he’ll be returning to later this year when Injustice 2 launches, and has gone on to write Justice League vs. Power Rangers, All-New Wolverine, Superior Iron Man and more. He also wrote the all-ages graphic novel The Deep: Here Be Dragons, which has been adapted into an animated TV show.

“America, through no fault of most of its citizens, doesn’t feel like a safe or welcoming travel destination at this moment,” Taylor said in a statement posted to Facebook. “There have been reports of interrogation, phone data downloads, requests for social media accounts, returns and five-year travel bans and everyone from children to the elderly being detained. All of this has many people I’ve spoken to reconsidering or cancelling their US travel plans.

Untangling Wolverine's Complicated X-Men Movie Timeline

The X-Men movies have made plenty of changes to the source material, but one element that hasn't changed is the convoluted approach to continuity. That continuity promises to become even more confusing with the release of Logan. This tenth entry in the X-Men saga jumps forward in the timeline to explore a post-apocalyptic world where an aging Wolverine is one of the last mutants still standing.

Wolverine has been the focal point for the entire X-Men saga. He's appeared in all nine films released so far (if you count the Hugh Jackman's face's in Deadpool) and he's been the lead character in many of them. And with Logan, the hairy X-Man's journey looks to be finally coming to an end. As the X-Men movies have bounced back and forth in time over the course of Wolverine's long, complicated journey, here's a chronological breakdown of his multi-film, multi-timeline story arc:

Pokemon Go Passes 650 Million Downloads

Pokemon Go has surpassed 650 million downloads.

Polygon reports that Niantic Labs recently revealed the new Pokemon Go milestone at Google Developer Day at GDC. On top of that, the developer's CTO, Phil Kreslin, said trainers have traversed 8.7 billion kilometers, or 5.4 billion miles.

Back in September, Pokemon Go downloads passed 500 million. That means there has been a slowdown for the super popular mobile app since last year.

However, Pokemon Go just received a huge update this month, adding 80 new Pokemon to the game. Currently, there is a Pokemon Day celebration happening.

The Complete Nintendo Switch Accessories Buyer's Guide

So you've got your plan set for the system itself. You've made your decisions about which games you're going to get, and probably got them pre-ordered (and maybe even paid off already). Only one last order of business as the Nintendo Switch launch approaches this Friday - sorting through all the optional accessories!

It's a daunting task, but we're here to help with this Complete Nintendo Switch Accessories Buyer's Guide.

Since the Nintendo Switch hasn't been released yet, we'd recommend sticking with either Official Nintendo or Officially Licensed 3rd party products. The Nintendo Seal of Approval means that the item has been evaluated and certified by Nintendo to be fully compatible with the console. This is especially important when the actual system is not yet available in the wild, and unlicensed parties may have to go solely by official specs to create their accessories. The exception to this rule are memory cards, since Micro SDXC is a universal format and there are no "Officially Licensed" memory cards available here in the States anyways.

This isn't the first time Star Trek Discovery has been delayed. Bryan Fuller's departure last year slowed down the project, and series lead Sonequa Martin-Green's commitment to The Walking Dead, which airs up through April and is reportedly in part why the show missed its May debut.

What Are The Best, Biggest Movies of the Last 20 Years?

Moonlight was crowned the Best Picture winner at last night's Oscars ceremony after a surprise twist when the wrong film was first given the award. But was it also the critical and commercial consensus for 2016?

To find out, IGN took a look at the best reviewed film, highest-grossing movie, and best picture winner — not just for last year, but for the last 20 years. Best reviewed films were determined by Rotten Tomatoes' adjusted score metric, which ranks the highest rated film based on a weighted formula that factors in the number of reviews, not just how positive or negative they are.

Twitch to Begin Selling Games

Twitch has announced that, starting this spring, users will be able to purchase select PC games directly through its website.

According to the live streaming service's announcement video, whenever a game is purchased directly through a Twitch streamer's broadcast, a portion of the money earned from the sale will be given to that streamer.

Several publishers, including Ubisoft, Telltale Games and Hi-Rez Studios are on board with Twitch's new program. Games purchased though Twitch can be launched via the service's desktop app or through other pre-established publisher platforms like Ubisoft's Uplay.

Last month, the popular live streaming platform—which was purchased by Amazon in 2014—announced it will hold its third annual TwitchCon from October 20-22 in Long Beach, CA.

Some Switch Games Are Touchscreen-Only

Not all Nintendo Switch games will take advantage of the console's ability to play on the big screen. Some will only work when the Switch is in its handheld mode.

"As we see more games come up, we will see games that leverage the touchscreen more," Nintendo's Shinya Takahashi told us in an interview.

This jibes with Kotaku's report that Japanese Switch launch game Voez is mobile-only and isn't designed to be played when the console is docked.

A FAQ accompanying the game, already out on mobile devices, spells out the flat-out confirms mobile-only nature, saying "This software can not play in TV mode."

Hearthstone’s Journey to Un’Goro Announced

Blizzard Entertainment today confirmed the rumours that the next Hearthstone expansion will be themed around Un’Goro, “a prehistoric region of Azeroth preserved in time” that will be familiar to World of Warcraft players. Called Journey to Un’Goro, the new set will add 135 new cards to the game and be available sometime in April.

Only a handful of cards have been revealed so far, but we’ve already seen two big new mechanics. Quest cards reward players for building their decks a particular way, with a set of requirements that need to be filled in order to be rewarded with “a card of monstrous power!”

7 Crazy Moments from Oscar History

You've surely heard by now about the flub at last night's Oscars ceremony. At the climax of the awards show, Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced the wrong winner for Best Picture. The La La Land cast and crew took the stage and embarked on a series of acceptances speeches before it was revealed that there had been some kind of mistake and in fact Moonlight was the actual winner. As Beatty, La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz and host Jimmy Kimmel attempted to sort the situation out, the La La Land team shuffled off the stage and the rightful -- and stunned -- Best Picture winners came up to accept their award.

Bioshock Movie Was "Literally 8 Weeks" From Shooting

Gore Verbinski's lost Bioshock movie adaptation was "literally eight weeks" from shooting before it was abandoned.

Speaking on the IGN UK Podcast, Verbinski explained that the film had taken shape in pre-production, and that he had a clear vision for how it would turn out:

"What's interesting is when you get that close to shooting a movie, you've kind of made it. That's the danger - you've kind of made it in your head.

"It's one thing when your movie doesn't happen

but when you go literally eight weeks before you start shooting, it's devastating."

How Is GameStop's Publishing Division Doing?

GameStop entered the world of game publishing in 2016 with its new division GameTrust, and the company's first title, Song of the Deep, was a success, according to one of GameTrust's executives.

"The game broke all levels that we had put in front of it for both retail and digital," Mark Stanley, vice president of internal development and diversification at GameStop, said while speaking to IGN at DICE 2017. "So, thankfully, Song of the Deep is still doing well. We're hoping to work again with Insomniac soon with another project."

Song of the Deep was developed by Insomniac Games that released in 2016 both digitally and in physical form exclusively at GameStop. In addition to publishing the game itself, GameTrust took a wider approach, publishing a tie-in book and other collectibles alongside Song of the Deep. Stanley acknowledged that people stepping into a GameStop may not initially know what these collectibles relate to, but their existence alongside the game allows those who do buy it to deepen their connection to this new franchise.

Oscars 2017 Presenter Falsely Announces Best Pic Winner

In a surprising end to the Oscars telecast, the wrong film was initially announced as the Best Picture winner.

At the 89th annual Academy Awards, presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway incorrectly announced La La Land as the night's Best Picture winner. The film's cast and crew gave an acceptance speech but stopped midway through to reveal that Moonlight, and not the Damien Chazelle-directed musical had won Best Picture.

La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz announced Moonlight's win and handed off the Oscar to director Barry Jenkins and the rest of the Moonlight cast and crew.

Beatty took a moment in between the two speeches to say he and Dunaway were given a card that had Emma Stone's name, as well as La La Land's title on it. In their confusion, they announced that film as the winner. As spotted by Reddit and Neil Patrick Harris, the card in Beatty's hand clearly reads "Actress in a Leading Role," though backstage Emma Stone told reporters she was holding the card with her name announcing her as the Best Actress winner the entire time.

TWD: Eugene's Take on Negan Is Very Different in the Comics

This article contains full spoilers for The Walking Dead's latest episode, "Hostiles and Calamities," so read on at your own risk.

Is Eugene really "Negan"? That's the biggest question to come out of The Walking Dead, and it's not one that's easily answered by looking to the AMC drama's source material.

"Hostiles and Calamities" did a pretty darn good job convincing the audience that Eugene, self-professed coward that he is, would turn to the dark side upon his arrival at The Sanctuary. Surrounded by people who only know he managed to make bullets without the typical manufacturing resources, Eugene quickly slipped into an old routine of pretending that he was an esteemed scientist before the zombie apocalypse -- and he seems to really like playing that person in Negan's world.

Nightwing Movie Director McKay on Why He Likes the Character

The LEGO Batman movie director Chris McKay believes Nightwing will be an essential part of the DC Extended Universe.

McKay spoke about the recently announced solo Nightwing film and the character on the Shanlian Batman Podcast. McKay discussed just how different and similar Dick Grayson is to Bruce Wayne.

In the filmmaker's opinion, Wayne is more "dour and angry" because of his privilege, while Grayson isn't like that at all because of his different upbringing as a gymnast and circus performer.

"They’re people who live hand-to-mouth and that’s something that informs him and his attitude," McKay said, adding he finds fascination with the character because "all the same things happen to him," referring to Grayon's family also tragically dying.

7 Nightwing Comics That Should Inspire the New Movie

Things are sure looking up for Dick Grayson these days. Not only is he a big player in The LEGO Batman Movie, but now we've learned that director Chris McKay is apparently in talks to direct WB's live-action Nightwing movie.

We doubt WB will have much trouble topping Dick's last live-action appearance in 1997's Batman & Robin. Even so, we hope the new movie will draw plenty of inspiration from Dick Grayson's comic book adventures. There are a lot of classic stories to choose from, but here are the ones we think are the most important.

You can also pet dogs. Just stop what you're doing, and pet a dog, and go about your day with the warm glow that hangs about your soul after interacting with a nice dog.

Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns is the second game in the series under the "Story of Seasons" title. Previously, the game was known as Harvest Moon, and that series helped lay the groundwork for games like Stardew Valley.

The Best GPUs

When we're old and sitting in our rocking chairs on the porch we'll look back fondly on the year 2016, wipe a tear from our eye, and regale our grandkids about the move to 14nm and 16nm FinFET GPUs. "Your granddad had 100fps at 1440p," we'll tell our grandkids as they ignore us while ensconced in their 32k VR simulations. They won't understand, of course, how amazing the year 2016 was in terms of GPU advancements, but it can't be understated. Not only did we finally move from 28nm planar transistors all the way down to 14/16nm 3D FinFET, but the accompanying performance boost from one generation to the next was one of the largest ever recorded in modern times. Instead of the typical 10 to 20 percent boosts we experience going from one generation of silicon to the next, we saw a 60 to 80 percent boost. Frame rates skyrocketed, 4k gaming became viable with a single GPU, and laptops were able to sport desktop-class graphics for the first time due to improvements in efficiency as well. It was (and still is) a great time to be alive, indeed.

Hulk / Wolverine Hybrid Teased by Marvel EiC

Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso tweeted a teaser image with the words "Under Construction" featuring what appears to be a Wolverine/Hulk hybrid in a lab.

The mysterious image shows the green body of the Hulk with Wolverine's signature claws coming out of each hand. On the tube it says "Batch H" which doesn't immediately relate to any per-existing Marvel experiments or organizations, although it does remind us of Weapon X, the program that created Wolverine. We're assuming the "H" stands for "Hulk," at the very least.

CW's Next DC Crossover to Likely Truly Involve All 4 Shows

After not truly being involved in The CW's big crossover with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, it sounds like Supergirl may actually dedicate a full episode to the network's next big show-merging event.

IGN attended a screening of next week's episode of Supergirl, during which executive producer Andrew Kreisberg discussed the possibility of a future crossover during a Q&A. He said that while there aren't plans to do a big crossover this year, "next year, we're hoping to do a true four-way crossover."

While Melissa Beonist's Kara Zor-El appeared in last year's "Invasion" crossover with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, the Supergirl series itself didn't actually dedicate an entire episode to the big event, instead including only a very brief stinger at the end of an episode to set up the other shows. In addition, none of the show's supporting cast appeared during the crossover.

Studio Ghibli's Hayao Miyazaki Is Coming Out of Retirement

Hayao Miyazaki, the co-founder of Studio Ghibli and director of some of the most beloved anime films of all time, has once again announced he's coming out of retirement to direct a new movie.

According to Little White Lies, Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki confirmed in a pre-Oscars interview with Pixar director Pete Docter that the Japanese animation studio will be back to producing feature-length movies in-house, and Miyazaki will helm its first full-length CG-animated movie.

Miyazaki's in-development CG project was originally conceived as a short film titled Kemushi no Boro, echoing a report that surfaced last year suggesting he may come out of retirement. The director has been outspoken in his dislike for CG animation in the past, but has apparently warmed up to the technology and been learning how to animate using a computer.

Everything You Need to Know About The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

At this point, it’s hard to remember a time when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was not in the works. This game has been churning in the background since before the Wii U came out, meaning its development spanned an entire Nintendo console generation.

Not only will Breath of the Wild be Nintendo’s final game for Wii U, but it’s also positioned as the standout launch title for the Nintendo Switch. With both versions set to launch on March 3, let’s look at the winding road Breath of the Wild traveled to get here.

Believe it or not, Nintendo first dropped hints about about an HD Zelda game way back at E3 2011 — before Skyward Sword even came out. The hint was a CGI demo that showed Link squaring off against the giant spider Gohma. The demo bears little resemblance to the Breath of the Wild we know today, but it proved Nintendo had plans to bring the franchise into the modern HD world.

Danny Glover Almost Played Raiden in Mortal Kombat Movie

Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover was originally being eyed to play Raiden in New Line's original 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon has revealed.

On the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered, the Mortal Kombat co-creator discussed the creative consulting he did on the film, noting they had some "pretty interesting discussions" with the studio, including Glover's potential involvement. "They had some pretty wild suggestions for characters, I remember them saying they wanted Danny Glover to be Raiden," he said.

Boon also mentioned that "Kano originally just had like a pirate eye patch," to which he responded, "no, no, no, he's gotta have the big plate." After running the character by focus groups it became clear that fans wouldn't have been happy with an eye patch. According to Boon, this type of feedback from Mortal Kombat players "course corrected them a few times."

Black Sails Clip: John Silver Faces an Impossible Decision

But Silver objected to this plan from the start. Now the Pirate King has a very difficult choice to make. Here, in this exclusive clip from Chapter "XXXIII." -- airing Sunday, February 26th -- Israel Hands (David Wilmot) has stepped into help Silver come to a decision. And as you can see, Hands has a very hands-on approach to supporting his leader. Check it out! (oh, and the language is NSFW)...

Two New Twin Peaks Posters Debut

In honor of "Twin Peaks Day," Showtime has released two new posters for the much-anticipated return of Twin Peaks, spotlighting the key characters Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee).

While both MacLachlan and Lee are back for the show's revival, it's notable that we see an older Cooper, but the Laura poster features the same iconic photo of the character used since the show's 1990 debut. Of course, Laura Palmer was dead from the moment Twin Peaks began -- in fact, Twin Peaks Day was created by fans to mark the canon anniversary of Laura's death: February 24th, 1989 -- begging questions of how Lee will be used in the show's 18-episode run. But as fans of the series know, there are always strange ways to see people again in Twin Peaks...

Netflix's Iron Fist Explained

On March 17, 2017, the new Marvel Netflix series Iron Fist -- the last part of the puzzle that eventually assembles into… no, the Defenders -- will debut. The Netflix shows have been following a similar pattern to that of their earliest MCU contemporaries: Introduce a number of strong solo heroes, then bring them together for a massive threat in a team adventure.

We’re all waiting to see how The Defenders plays out, but for now it’s time to meet the final member of the team to be introduced after Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). Finn Jones -- known to Doctor Who fans as Jo Grant’s grandson from two episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures, and to Game of Thrones fans as Loras Tyrell -- will be playing Danny Rand, AKA Iron Fist, so let’s find out more about the comics version of the Man with the Glowing Hand!

Nier: Automata - Junk Item Upsets Players

After receiving complaints from players in Japan, Square Enix has announced it will update the name of a trash item that can be found when fishing in Nier: Automata.

As reported by Siliconera, the item is called "NIN64" and described as "trash that was fished up." Whether or not it was an intentional joke about Nintendo 64 or something else entirely (others have suggested it may instead be a nod to the 1950s anti-aircraft system, the MIM-46 Mauler, or "MIM46") fans have made their complaints known and requested the item's name be changed.

Hugh Jackman Might Still Be Wolverine If He Was an Avenger

Logan appears to be Hugh Jackman's final bow as Wolverine (and a very good one too), but it might not have been so if the Marvel comics universe wasn't as fragmented as it is in the movie world.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Jackman explained that, had there been a chance to appear in an Avengers movie, things might have ended differently:

"If that was on the table when I made my decision

," Jackman said, "it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out
