Warner Bros. May Sue Universal Over its Dark Universe

Warner Bros. is reportedly considering legal action against Universal over its 'Dark Universe' monster movie franchise.

Last week it was announced that Universal Pictures' classic monsters shared universe is now officially known as the 'Dark Universe' franchise, and THR reports that Warners is "mulling" legal action (via a studio source), as its very own 'Dark Universe' banner encompasses its upcoming Justice League Dark movie - currently working-titled Dark Universe - and a series of comic books.  You can see how it might get...confusing.

Netflix Founder Wants to Cancel More Shows

Netflix founder Reed Hastings believes his streaming service needs to cancel more of its original shows.

Speaking to CNBC (via Vulture) Hastings said that Netflix's "hit ratio is way too high right now.” Netflix needs to be taking more risks, said Hastings, which would naturally result in some unexpected massive hits and some failures. “We’ve canceled very few shows," he continued. "I’m always pushing the content team: We have to take more risk; you have to try more crazy things. Because we should have a higher cancel rate overall.”

Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich has revealed the reason why she almost quit the iconic series before it had even started.

During an interview with Inverse, Jovovich explains that she was a big fan of the games which prompted her to sign on to produce the original film and ended up reading for the movie after discovering that Paul W.S Anderson was holding the reins.

Wrestling Wrap Up: Why We Need the Women's MITB Match

Say "momentum" again! I dare you! I double dare you, mothereffer!

No, I'm not going to dive back into my dumb ol' momentum rant... but you see what I mean now, right? Nothing but momentum talk heading into both Extreme Rules and Money in the Bank. No one watching wresting in 2017 thinks momentum is a thing that's a thing. Even if Cole insists that "every match tonight, every moment, counts," none of them do and none of it does. It doesn't matter that Roman beat Seth in the main event. Or that Ziggler beat AJ on SmackDown. RAW and Smackdown, on the main event levels, have been empty calories for weeks now. Why Wonder Woman Kills

The subject of superheroes killing bad guys is a debate that continually follows the DC Extended Universe movies. Superman chose to kill Zod at the end of Man of Steel and Batman earned a body count in the double digits throughout his Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice action scenes, and while one could argue the need for going lethal in those situations, there are those that think heroes shouldn’t cross that line regardless of the situation.

Wonder Woman’s solo movie shows the character’s origin story during the time of World War I, and even from the trailers we see her using her sword and shield to cut down and brutally bash enemy soldiers, so it’s clear she’s willing to take a life in combat. With this in mind, we asked Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins about the character’s stance on killing.

Unlike the upcoming Wonder Woman movie (read IGN's review), which is set decades before the Justice League is formed, Aquaman will reference the events of Justice League in some capacity. "James

Why Nintendo Hasn't Made a New Advance Wars

While Nintendo has published four Fire Emblem games in the last five years, the drought for its other Advance Wars series continues. Nintendo producer Hitoshi Yamagami admits he’d like to make a new Advance Wars, but he admits the development team would have to overcome a particular design challenge.

“Personally, I'd love to do Advance Wars,” Yamagami told Eurogamer, “but since it's harder to create relationships between its characters compared to Fire Emblem, I don't have a clear idea of what kind of setting it could have."

Fire Emblem producer Masahiro Higuchi, who worked on the original Advance Wars, echoed Yamagami’s sentiments: "The Advance Wars series is one that I personally have a lot of interest in," Higuchi said. "I hear some of the staff here saying that they want to make one too, so if we have a chance it's something I'd like to do!"

PlayStation 3 Has Ceased Production

Production of the PlayStation 3 has seemingly ended in Japan.

Gematsu reports the official PlayStation website page for the 500GB version, the only model currently that was in production in Japan, lists shipments now as “Ended.” We have contacted Sony for official comment.

The PlayStation 3 originally released in Japan on November 11, 2006, and in North America on November 17 (PAL territories saw the system launch on March 23, 2007). The launch also saw Sony playing catch up to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which released a year prior on November 22, 2005.

Despite releasing later than anticipated, the PlayStation 3 went on to sell through some 80 million units worldwide as of 2013. Comparatively, as of April 2017 the PlayStation 4 has sold in excess of 60 million units.

Nintendo Theme Park Will Probably Include Real-Life Mario Kart

Nintendo has all but confirmed that its US theme parks will have the same name as their Japanese counterpart - Super Nintendo World.

Filing a US trademark for the name (as spotted by ComicBook.com) we may also have a sense of one of its attractions - the filing includes specific mention of the "management or arrangement of kart racing". Can anyone think of a suitable Nintendo franchise for that? I'm struggling.

As with all trademarks, some of the list will be there simply to cover Nintendo from others using the name for their own gain, but there are mentions of Super Nintendo World hotels, restaurants, Christmas tree decorations and a whole heap of different kinds of clothes.

Bayonetta 3 Is In Discussions, Says PlatinumGames

Platinum Games is actively discussing where to take the Bayonetta series next.

In an interview with SourceGaming at BitSummit, Platinum producer Atsushi Inaba fielded a question regarding whether the team would still use Bayonetta as the protagonist or introduce someone new in a bid to surprise fans and keep the series fresh.

“I would like to make Bayonetta 3. We’re talking within the company even now about what to do,” says Inaba. “But because we’re constantly talking about it, that actually makes it really hard to say.

“Of course, that’s just something that you talk about when you’re making a series – do you want to keep the same protagonist? There’s plenty of precedent for changing protagonists, and so that is something we discuss – do we want to keep the same one, have a different one, add new ones…”

18 Sweet Games We Played at BitSummit in Japan

On the world stage, Tokyo Game Show is seen as Japan’s premiere gaming expo, but for me personally, TGS has been a show of diminishing returns for many years. Nowadays, the event I get most excited about in Japan is BitSummit.

This two day event is not necessarily that dissimilar to the indie spaces at PAX, or other consumer shows, but it’s nonetheless an awesome window into what’s happening in the indie scene within Japan, and BitSummit itself still feels very much like a grass roots celebration of gaming: a space being shared by everyone, with tiny start-up studios rubbing shoulders with well-known, high profile industry figures.

This Virtual Reality Game Will Scare The Crap Out Of You

I hear a bright tone – ding! – and then the elevator doors open to reveal a vast cityscape stretching out before my eyes. Protruding in front of me is a wooden board, about three metres long and thirty centimetres wide – just thick enough to accommodate both of my feet, side-by-side. The task here is straightforward: just like the maritime method of execution, I’m meant to walk the plank.

First, I must step up onto the board. I tentatively put my left foot forward, seeking the raised edge. I shift my weight and bring my right foot up to the timber. What’s most surprising is the immediate physical response that I encounter: my heart beats noticeably faster beneath my ribcage, and I begin sweating. My brain has suddenly thrown my balance into question, because never before in my regular life have I found it so hard to put one foot in front of the other.

While Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales topped the box office in its domestic debut, its estimated three-day weekend earnings of $62.2 million make it the second-lowest debut in the history of the franchise.

The film is projected to make approximately $76 million over the four-day weekend, which includes estimated earnings up through Memorial Day. While the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise's performance has been waning domestically, the series has grown in popularity overseas. In fact, the series' fourth entry, On Stranger Tides, is the franchise's highest-grossing installment internationally with $804.6 million, despite being the first Pirates of the Caribbean film that failed to crack $300 million domestically.

The Best and Cheapest Fidget Spinners and Cubes

If you can't seem to keep yourself still and need something, anything, to occupy your hands, the sudden explosion of fidget toys is just what you need. While they make somewhat dubious claims about their therapeutic benefits, there's no denying the satisfaction of spinning a tiny toy, or clicking and fussing with switches and buttons, while you're otherwise idle. It just feels right. Below we've compiled a list of the best fidget spinners and best fidget cubes you can buy right now. And if you aren't interested in dropping $20 or more on a simple fidget toy, we've also included a few ultra-cheap fidget spinners and cheap fidget cubes that will still get the job done (and likely make a little but more noise while doing it).

Disney World's Avatar Land Has One of the Best Rides Ever

I’ll be writing more about Pandora - The World of Avatar next week, and the overall experience there, but with the new land at Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom opening today, I wanted to focus on the main attraction, Flight of Passage. Because wow, this is some ride.

As a bit of a theme park junkie, it’s rare I can walk off a ride and instantly say, “That’s now one my all-time favorites.” In fact, the last time I think that happened was when I first rode Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter seven years ago. But I feel secure saying that about Flight of Passage. It’s a new gold standard.

Flight of Passage takes you above Pandora, as you ride a banshee through the sky. Flight of Passage takes you above Pandora, as you ride a banshee through the sky.

Let's Talk About the Ending of Netflix's Bloodline

Greetings, fellow bingers. Down below you'll find some of my thoughts about the way Bloodline's final season ended, along with a few notes on some specific things I didn't want to spoil in my full Bloodline: Season 3 review. If you haven't finished the third season, you've been warned...

I wasn't crazy about some of the stuff that went down in the final three episodes, but man did I love Meg's exit, which came right at the end of the second min-arc - the trial storyline. I adored the fact that she got away from the family. I mean, she actually changed her name and became a different person because her family was so rancid.

And the show made us twitch a little bit regarding whether or not Chelsea, in a retaliatory effort, would be successful in framing Meg for Marco's murder, and that John would inadvertently wind up luring Meg back into a trap. But none of that happened. Out of every one, Meg managed to realize (and Danny did too, right?) that you just need to get as far away from that family as possible. Hell, even Mike (Mark Valley) tried to get John to ditch the Keys for Boston. Just about everyone could see the storm for what it was except for those inside of it.

KH 3, FF VII Remake Arriving in 'Next Three Years or So'

Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake aren't arriving anytime soon.

As part of Square Enix's recent financial results, the company listed both RPGs as fiscal 2018 and beyond releases. Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda added that "we plan to launch each of these upcoming titles in the next three years or so."

Now this timeframe fits with what Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura expressed earlier this year, saying both games "still have a way to go."

Opinion: Marvel Comics Can Learn From Hellboy

I don't envy any reader trying to jump into superhero comics right now. Sure, there's a wealth of great material out there, with decades of classic stories and strong new material being published every single week. The problem is trying to figure out what to read and where to start. With books constantly being relaunched, rebooted, re-branded and whatever else, it can be all but impossible to know where to begin and in what order to follow an ongoing series.

That problem was perfectly highlighted by writer Eric Palicki last week, who tweeted the following image showing exactly what happens when someone searches for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1" on Comixology:

15 MCU Villains We Want After Avengers: Infinity War

We're reaching a critical point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now. All of these movies are rapidly building toward the climactic showdown between Earth's heroes and Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. But even as exciting as that prospect is, we can't help but wonder what comes next.

Thanos may be the end-game of Phase 3 of the MCU, but there will be plenty more movies to come, and many more villains for the Avengers to contend with. These are the 15 villains we'd most like to see appear in Phase 4 and beyond, including new faces and an old favorite or two that still have more stories to be told.

We don't know much about the direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Infinity War, but it is clear that Marvel has no plans to slow down its release schedule. Fans can look forward to the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp on July 6, 2018, Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019, The Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 on July 5, 2019 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at some point thereafter, along with three more unrevealed movies for 2020.

The Director of Sausage Party Will Now Direct a Jetsons Movie

Warner Bros. has plans for a movie based on the classic cartoon The Jetsons, and Conrad Vernon is reportedly tapped to direct, according to THR.

Vernon recently was the co-director of the raunchy food-based comedy Sausage Party, which starred, amongst others, Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig.

The tale of the Jetson family and their dog Astro is unlikely to follow in the hard-R footsteps of that movie, but Vernon has worked on more family-friendly fare as well. He co-directed Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens, and Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Clearly, he is a veteran of animated film, and should be up to the task of directing an animated Jetsons movie. There has been talk of the futuristic family being turned into a live-action movie for a while, but the hiring of Vernon pretty much locks them in for the animation route.

7 Games Like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has found massive success since it hit Steam Early Access on March 23. While the concept of a battle royale isn’t new, Battlegrounds’ refined, no-nonsense approach to the free-for-all, last-player-standing-style survival shooter has earned it immense fame and fortune among enthusiasts of the genre.

But this Arma mod-turned-standalone isn’t the only option for survival game fans looking to pit their skills against others. Several mods and standalone games have come before and after (some even made by the creator himself), though how active each community is varies from game to game.

10 TV Shows Twitch Should Stream Next

As Twitch's marathon of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood comes to an end after 18 days of revisiting the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, it's hard not to wonder what comes next. Previously, the streaming video site ran marathons of Power Rangers and The Joy of Painting starring Bob Ross. If these marathons have done anything, it's proven that nostalgia is alive and well when it comes to the TV shows Twitch's audience grew up with. While The Joy of Painting pulled in a very impressive 5.6 million viewers for Twitch, the Power Rangers marathon landed 12.9 million views to the show's channel.

Splatoon 2: Road to E3 2017

It's that time of year again: E3 2017 is just on the horizon. From June 10-15, we'll be covering the biggest games and hardware announcements of 2017 and beyond. While you can check out our continually-updated Games of E3 List, we're now going to start diving deeper. Every day leading up to the show, we'll highlight the stuff we want to see and play at E3 2017. Today's game is Splatoon 2.

We = saw a wonderfully cut campaign trailer for Splatoon 2 not that long ago, and it plays to the strengths of Splatoon's weird world beautifully. It kicks off with Marie, one member of the previously popular diva duette known as the Squid Sisters, on her own and *gasp* no one appears to remember her. We're not sure how much time has passed between the Splatoon games, but this narrative setup plays into the drama Nintendo is slowly building through it's Squid Sister stories. It tells the story of a rift that happens after Team Marie beat Team Callie in the final Splatfest event. Anyway, this trailer shows off some cool mechanics and it confirms that more weapons will be available in the campaign versus the previous Splatoon campaign.

The CW's Black Lightning Explained

The CW will be adding yet another DC Comics-based series to its lineup this fall thanks to Black Lightning. The series will chronicle the exploits of Jefferson Pierce, a middle-aged metahuman trying to raise two daughters and make his city a safer place. Even with his electricity powers, that task will be easier said than done.

Black Lightning won't be premiering until midway through the 2017-2018 TV season, but it doesn't hurt to brush up o the character now. We're here to break down everything you need to know about this rising star in the DCU.

Black Lightning is among DC's first African American superheroes. A resident of Metropolis' Suicide Slum, Jefferson fights to keep his family and his community safe from gangs like The 100 and crime lords like Tobias Whale, and his innate electric powers make him a serious force to be reckoned with. Jefferson tends to have a unique perspective on crime and evil relative to the heroes of the Justice League. He'd prefer to remain on the street and try to enact change on a local level rather than spend his time high above the world in the JLA Watchtower.
