Vine, the social media app that lets users create and share six second video clips, is shutting down, Twitter announced today.
Although the video sharing app, founded in 2012 and acquired shortly after by Twitter, is being discontinued in the coming months, the website will remain online and users will still be able to access, watch, and download Vines.
"To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day," the company wrote. "To the many team members over the years who made this what it was — thank you for your contributions. And of course, thank you to all of those who came to watch and laugh every day."
