Marvel director Scott Derrickson told IGN what he'd most like to explore in a Doctor Strange sequel.
When asked what elements from source comics he’d most want to feature in another movie, Derrickson said:
“I really like the character of Nightmare and the concept that the Nightmare Realm is a dimension.
That’s early – that’s like the first Strange tale. I think that’s in the introductory episode of Doctor Strange, and I always loved that."
Nightmare did, indeed, first appear alongside the debut of Doctor Strange in Strange Tales #110 (July, 1963). He is the despotic ruler of the Dream Dimension, where humans visit while sleeping, has green hair and a black, horned horse named Dreamstalker. Who wouldn’t want to see that in a movie?
