The upcoming Harry Potter spinoff prequel, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, is on track to have the lowest opening weekend of the Harry Potter film franchise.
Variety reports that Fantastic Beasts will take in $75 million in its first weekend next month. That number pales in comparison to what the most recent entries in the franchise made on their respective opening weekends. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 had a $169.2 million opening, while the Deathly Hallows Part 1’s first weekend box office was a little over $125 million (unadjusted for inflation).
