343 Industries studio head Dan Ayoub confirmed today that all players who buy the digital version of Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition will receive “special preview access” to the upcoming remastered release of Halo Wars for Xbox One and Windows 10 this December.
Access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition will be available from December 20.
Ayoub made the announcement on stage at The Game Awards, also debuting a new cinematic trailer for Halo Wars 2 that showcased more of the story behind the upcoming strategy sequel.
The news Halo Wars: Definitive Edition would be bundled with Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition was revealed at E3 2016 in June. When and/or if the game will be sold separately remains to be discussed.
