Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime set in the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, has been announced for release on Netflix in 2022. Announced during today's Night City Wire broadcast, Edgerunners will be set in the game's Night City, but will focus on different characters, and with a different story. According to a press release, Edgerunners "tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk." CD Projekt Red will act as producer on the series, with Studio Trigger working as the animation studio, and Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) directing.
