Sony is reportedly planning a PlayStation 5 digital event for "as early as next week," kicking off other events that will take place over the coming weeks and months. As reported by Bloomberg, people with "direct knowledge of the matter" have said the virtual event could take place on June 3, but also "cautioned that plans have been in flux and that the date may change." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/15/analyzing-ps5s-tech-demo-next-gen-console-watch"] Sony is not expected to reveal everything about the PlayStation 5 at this first showing, and many more details will arrive with the aforementioned other events. This reveal will be the next big look at the future of PlayStation since Sony revealed the PlayStation 5's controller, the DualSense, and Epic Games announced and showcased its Unreal Engine 5 demo running live on a PS5. Sony has been relatively quiet on the next-gen front, while Microsoft has already shown the console, controller, and even some third-party titles that will be arriving on the Xbox Series X. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=confirmed-playstation-5-games&captions=true"] This announcement follows previous remarks by Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida who said that "we will be soon be announcing a strong lineup of PS5 games." Also, while we don't know the official release date of the PlayStation 5 besides Holiday 2020, Sony has confirmed that the COVID-19 pandemic has not caused any delays, although there very well may be launch shortages.
