Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda recently discussed the future of the Deus Ex franchise, shooting down rumors that the series is dead.
"We have never said anything about discontinuing that title but for some reason that's the rumor out on the market," Matsuda told GamesIndustry.biz. "What I can say is Eidos Montreal has always developed Deus Ex, and the issue is we do not have limitless resources," he explained.
Matsuda emphasized that Deus Ex is a "very important franchise" to Square Enix, especially because it adds variety among its portfolio of franchises as a first-person title. In fact, the company is "already internally discussing and exploring" where to take the series with the next entry.
