Tempest 4000 Announced

Tempest 4000, the long-awaited sequel to the classic arcade shooter Tempest, is officially in development, Atari announced today.

The game is being developed by Jeff Minter, creator of the 1994 remake of the original game Tempest 2000. The sequel will be released sometime later this year for PC and current-gen consoles.

Tempest 4000 will have you control the Claw spacecraft once again as you attempt to destroy deadly creatures and obstructions. It will feature three game modes—standard, pure and endurance—100 geometric levels, 4K resolution, and a retro 1990s techno soundtrack.

"I am very happy to work with Atari again to bring a long-awaited sequel of Tempest to our legion of fans and a new generation of gamers worldwide," said Minter.
