FOX's new supernatural comedy Ghosted might, on paper, seem inspired and reminiscent of Ghostbusters, but it's a comparison that the creative team behind the series push back against.
The new sitcom follows "a skeptic (Adam Scott) and a genius 'true believer' (Craig Robinson) in the paranormal who are recruited by an organization called The Bureau Underground to investigate a series of 'unexplained' activities that are occurring in the Los Angeles area, which are supposedly tied to a mysterious entity that could threaten the existence of the human race." Scott, who also executive produces Ghosted, was staunch in that Ghosted isn't "Ghostbusters the TV Show," though he said they took "some inspiration" from Ghostbusters in terms of how they balanced "comedy with a grounded world that it all takes place in."
