Deadpool Spanks Fifty Shades of Grey's Box Office Record

Deadpool continued its box office dominance all weekend long, coming in first with $135 million. The movie had the biggest opening day for an R-rated film ever, as well.

Fox's new comic book film set a new record high for both President's Day weekend and the month of February, eclipsing Fifty Shades of Grey's previous leading debut of $85.2 million. On top of that, Deadpool's opening weekend now stands as the biggest ever for an R-rated film, outpacing The Matrix Reloaded's $91.8 million debut.

Kung Fu Panda slipped to second place with $19.7 million, followed closely by Warner Bros. romantic comedy How to Be Single, which debuted to $18.8 million over the Valentine's Day weekend.
