Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red Clarifies the Game Won't Be 200GB

CD Projekt Red has clarified that Cyberpunk 2077 won't take up 200GB of hard-drive space. Global Community Lead Marcin Momot took to Twitter to address claims which originated on Reddit, where a fan had taken a screenshot of Cyberpunk 2077 from Nvidia's RTX 3000 GPU reveal event. A vista from the game is accompanied by a tag that mentions "200GB Games," which has led some to surmise that the game may take up 200GB of hard-drive space. "The game won't take up 200GB when installed," notes Momot. "You can expect the required HDD space to be on par with other modern titles." Momot didn't reveal exactly how big the game is, but he did note that system requirements for Cyberpunk 2077 are "coming soon." Nvidia used the Cyberpunk screenshot as an example of a demanding game that would take advantage of its RTX IO technology, which lets the graphics card handle decompression in order to decrease the potential strain on your CPU and boost load times. In other Cyberpunk 2077 news, it was recently revealed that the game will feature free DLC on top of paid expansions. You can also check out the RTX Showcase trailer that debuted during Nvidia's conference to see how the game will take advantage of ray tracing technology. Gods & Monsters Officially Renamed Immortals: Fenyx Rising

Ubisoft's open-world Greek myth adventure, Gods & Monsters, has officially been renamed Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Announced on Twitter with a new logo, the reworked game will be shown at the next Ubisoft Forward broadcast on September 10: Gods & Monsters was first revealed at E3 2019, with an original release date of February 25, 2020, but was delayed late last year. A Stadia bug meant an early version of the game was briefly playable, but Ubisoft confirmed that it was the E3 2019 demo version of Gods & Monsters. The game has altered since then, in more ways than just its title; Eurogamer previously got a statement from Ubisoft, saying, "the game formerly known as Gods and Monsters has evolved in surprising ways, which is common when developing exciting new worlds [...] Much has changed since [E3 2019's demo] in terms of features, tone, art and character design, and even the name of the game." We got a tease that the game would be re-revealed yesterday, and you can check out some new shots of Immortals below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=gods-monsters-re-reveal-tease&captions=true"] When we first played the game formerly-known-as-Gods & Monsters, we discussed its similarities to Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but said it was far more than a clone, taking cues from Assassin's Creed and even Bastion along the way. Check out the Kor Blademaster, Seafloor Stalker, Kitesail Cleric and Ardent Electromancer - as well as an art card which will be available in Zendikar Rising's new Set Boosters. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=magic-the-gathering-zendikar-rising-exclusive-card-reveals&captions=true"] The party mechanic revolves around offering benefits to decks that are able to play at least one each of a Warrior, Rogue, Cleric and Wizard. As you can see from the cards above, some cards will directly benefit from a full party, while others wil lsimply contribute to that count. Expect to see decks that revolve around specific party compositions to reap major rewards from the effects each card can have. Fortnite Adds a Black Panther Monument in Latest Marvel Crossover

Fornite has added a new Marvel POI, Panther's Prowl, and it is more or less an alternate dimensional rift that features a Black Panther monument in honor of the beloved Marvel hero. It's important to note that this new addition was not in response to the passing of Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman, as it was already "part of a previously-planned narrative for the new Chapter 2 - Season 4 season." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/fortnite-black-panther-statue"] "As with the rest of the world, we were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of actor, Chadwick Boseman," Epic Games said in a statement to IGN. "The Black Panther monument arrived this morning as part of a previously-planned narrative for the new Chapter 2 - Season 4 season." As you can see in the clip above, when you approach this new POI, you will be treated to ambient music that invokes the feeling of the soundtrack of Marvel's Black Panther film. For those who wish to find this new statue, it is due west of Misty Meadows, and has a glowing ring around it on the map, as well as in the game, to represent the rift that brought it to Fortnite's island. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=fortnites-black-panther-monument-on-panthers-prowl&captions=true"] This Black Panther statue is another example of this epic crossover between Fortnite and Marvel, which saw Antman's Ant Manor POI appear earlier this week. Here's Everyting Nvidia Announced at Its 30-Series GeForce Event

Nvidia just wrapped up its big GeForce reveal and what a show it was. Not only was there a new GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3070, but also the introduction of the RTX 3090, a big honking triple-slot graphics card with more than 10,000 CUDA cores and 24GB of video memory. Beyond that, there were also a few reveals of new and old games getting the ray tracing treatment. In case you missed the show or just wanted to relive all the highlights, we’ve got you covered here.

Fortnite Gets Its RTX On

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/fortnite-rtx-on-reveal-trailer"] The Nvidia showcase started off with a bit of surprise announcement that Fortnite would be getting the RTX treatment. Hopefully, it'll be a big graphical upgrade to the three-year-old game that makes Fortnite pop as much as Minecraft with ray tracing. This will also make Fortnite the first Battle Royale-style game to feature ray tracing.

Another Look at Cyberpunk 2077 with Ray Tracing

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/cyberpunk-2077-rtx-showcase-trailer"] With Cyberpunk 2077 releasing on November 17, it's easily going to be the biggest and newest game you'll be able to enjoy on Nvidia's new graphics cards, and so it makes sense to show just one more sizzle reel of how the game will look with the latest ray-traced effects and hardware. There isn't anything shockingly new revealed in the footage itself, but we can't say it isn't pretty to look at.

Marbles Never Looked Better with Ray Tracing

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/nvidias-newest-rtx-demo-looks-like-real-life"] There's probably a joke somewhere that Nvidia has lost its marbles, but honestly there's really no better object to show off the latest real-time ray tracing technology than this. Through the use of virtual marbles, Nvidia was able to present the improved reflections, illumination, shadows, and all the other effects RTX can now produce with Nvidia's new Ampere architecture. At the end of the demo Nvidia showed how Turing could only display this environment at 720p and 30 fps with just 1 dome light and indirect light, meanwhile, Ampere is capable of rendering the same space at 1440p and 30 fps while also simulating 130 area lights and depth of field effects.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Revealed

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/nvidia-rtx-3080-reveal-trailer"] Okay now we're getting to the actual meat of the show with the first GPU revealed as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. The new card comes equipped with 8,704 CUDA cores and 10GB of GDDR6X memory, that latter of which operates at the fastest 19Gbps memory clock we've ever seen on a GPU. Nvidia rates the card with 30 shader-tflops, 58 RT-tflops, and 238 Tensor-tflops that will all make it twice as powerful as the RTX 2080. The RTX 3080 starts at $699 and will be available on September 17.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Goes RTX Too

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/09/01/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-rtx-on-trailer"] Nvidia gave us a quick breather between all the new graphics cards with a quick look at what Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will look like with ray tracing. There isn't too much new revealed in the trailer, but you can see plenty of realistic reflections off of glasses and metal. Interestingly it appears as if the game will be globally illuminated by ray-traced effects, including everything from room lights to flashlights and flames. This is a big step over early RTX-enabled games that only featured ray traced shadows or reflections.

And Here's the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070

Nvidia RTX 3070, NvidiaNvidia also revealed its high-to-mid-range graphics card, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070. It comes with a high CUDA core count of 5,888 but still last generation video memory with only 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. That said, this graphics card is still more powerful than the $1,200 RTX 2080 Ti with 20 shader-tflops, 40 RT-tflops, and 163 Tensor-tflops of power while costing less than half as much at $499. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 will be available sometime in October.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090: The "BFGPU"

Nvidia RTX 3090, NvidiaOf course, Nvidia would save its biggest, baddest GPU for last, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090. Lovingly titled the "BFGPU," it's literally huge as a triple slot GPU. With this monster you're looking at 10,496 CUDA cores paired with 24GB of GDDR6X video memory. The card can push 36 shader-tflops, 69 RT-tflops, and 285 Tensor-tflops of graphical power, which theoretically should allow for 8K resolution games at 60 frames per second. This whopper of a graphics card is expensive with a starting price of $1,499 and it'll be available on September 24th. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Have a tip for us? Vlambeer Closes Its Doors After 10 Years

Vlambeer, the Dutch indie studio founded by Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman, has announced that it is shutting down. The news comes on Vlambeer’s 10th anniversary after it was founded by Ismail and Willem Nijman in 2010 while the two were still students. Unlike other studio closures, Vlambeer has made the conscious decision to shut down its outfit, or “like a boyband splitting up,” as co-founder Rami Ismail said in an email to IGN. Vlambeer’s 10-year career includes hyperactive takes on arcade-style gameplay. In 2010 the duo released Super Crate Box. The team followed with the successful Ridiculous Fishing in 2013, Luftrausers in 2014, and Nuclear Throne in 2015. Vlambeer confirmed that its current project ULTRABUGS will still launch and that there will be select support for former games. “It’s not a sad day for us, but a happy conclusion to a whirlwind decade filled with screenshake,” the company said in a Tweet. “It feels like we’ve achieved what we set out to do — as a studio, as a voice, and as individuals, and we are extremely grateful for these past years.” There is a Vlambeer and Friends goodbye sale live on Steam where you can check out the team’s past games, as well as other games from other indie devs. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. DC Officially Makes Tim Drake Robin Again

In yet another sign the '90s have returned with a vengeance, Tim Drake has officially reclaimed the mantle of Robin in the DC Universe. This change comes just under a year after Young Justice co-writer Brian Michael Bendis revealed a new costume and new codename for Batman's former sidekick. Tim has been using the name "Drake" ever since, a reference to both his surname and the member of the avian family. But in the pages of Young Justice #18, Tim chooses to revert to his classic costume and codename following an adventure with Spoiler. And as this team gathering shows, his fellow teen heroes seem very happy with that decision: [caption id="attachment_2401786" align="aligncenter" width="1399"]Art by Scott Godlewski. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Scott Godlewski. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] Interestingly, this story comes just one week after the release of Teen Titans Annual #2, which features Damian Wayne giving up the mantle of Robin. Mourning the recent death of Alfred Pennyworth and wanting to distance himself from his father, Damian seems intent on leaving both the Bat-family and the Titans behind to forge a new destiny. [caption id="attachment_2401793" align="aligncenter" width="924"]Art by Eduardo Pansica. (Image Credit: DC) Art by Eduardo Pansica. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] Tim Drake was officially introduced as Batman's third Robin in 1989's Batman #436, remaining in the role almost consistently until Damian's debut in 2006. Tim rose to even greater prominence thanks to his animated debut in The New Batman Adventures. Since Damian's debut, Tim has largely distanced himself from Batman. While at times he's begrudgingly shared the Robin mantle with the headstrong Damian, he's just as often tried to forge his own identity as either Drake or Red Robin. Now Tim seems content to return to the role many fans remember best, even while Damian becomes something else entirely. It remains to be seen what the future holds for both Tim and Damian, but all signs point to major changes at DC Comics in 2021. With both Young Justice and Teen Titans ending in November, we're expecting a new Teen Titans series to launch in the aftermath of crossovers like Batman: Joker War and Dark Nights: Death Metal. We could even see Tim return to being Batman's sidekick. It's worth remembering Batman writer James Tynion IV is a self-professed huge Tim Drake fan and previously included him as a main character in his Detective Comics run. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=all-the-times-batman-and-robin-broke-up&captions=true"] Are you happy to see Tim back in his classic role? Let us know in the comments below. Keanu Reeves' BRSRKR Comic Gets a Kickstarter

While BOOM! Studios is gearing up for the October 7 debut of BRSRKR, a new action-fantasy series co-written by Keanu Reeves, the publisher is also turning to Kickstarter to boost the project's reach. BOOM! has launched a Kickstarter drive that allows backers to pre-order box sets of the three BRSRKR graphic novels (each of which will collect four issues of the 12-issue limited series). Depending on the tier you choose, you'll be able to pre-order softcover or hardcover editions, some of which feature Kickstarter-exclusive cover designs. Higher tiers offer additional perks like a signed art print or the chance to be drawn as a character in the story. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=brsrkr-get-a-sneak-peek-of-keanu-reeves-new-comic&captions=true"] As of the time of publishing, the Kickstarter has already surpassed its initial $50,000 funding goal, and BOOM! is teasing future stretch goals to be revealed at a later date. BRSRKR is co-written by Reeves and Matt Kindt (X-O Manowar, Mind MGMT), with art by Ron Garney (The Amazing Spider-Man, Conan the Barbarian), colors by Bill Crabtree (BPRD), and letters by Clem Robins (Hellboy). Rafael Grampá (Dark Knight Returns: The Golden Child) provided character designs and is also drawing covers alongside prolific Marvel/DC cover artist Mark Brooks. [caption id="attachment_2401731" align="aligncenter" width="4125"]Garney has seemingly worked an iconic Internet meme into the story. Garney has seemingly worked an iconic Internet meme into the story.[/caption] BOOM's official description for the series teases:
"In this brutally violent new series, the man known only as Berzerker is half-mortal and half-God, cursed and compelled to violence...even at the sacrifice of his sanity.  But after wandering the world for centuries, Berzerker may have finally found a refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, Berzerker will be granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it."
“Many companies use Kickstarter to fund their projects. We are not doing this,” said BOOM! Studios CEO and founder Ross Richie in the publisher's press release. “We are working with Kickstarter as a distribution platform to expand our reach. It’s our dream here at BOOM! Studios to introduce new readers to the medium of comic books and graphic novels. By combining the reach of Kickstarter with the interest in Keanu Reeves and the action-packed epic that is BRZRKR, we’re excited to introduce so many folks to their very first comic book.” The Kickstarter drive will remain open until October 1. Backers will receive each individual graphic novel at the same time the mass market editions are released in stores. BOOM! estimates Vol. 1 will be released in September 2021, followed by Vol. 2 in April 2022 and Vol. 3 in September 2022. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/27/bill-ted-face-the-music-review"] BRSRKR is one of many projects keeping Reeves busy these days. He recently reprised the role of Ted "Theodore" Logan in Bill and Ted face the Music and will return to another iconic role in the upcoming The Matrix 4. Ubisoft Will Seemingly Re-Reveal Gods & Monsters at Next Ubisoft Forward

Ubisoft will seemingly re-reveal Gods & Monsters during its next Ubisoft Forward showcase. Gods & Monsters was last seen at Ubisoft's E3 2019 event and word on the title has been somewhat quiet since then. Fans have assumed that it's one of the Ubisoft's five confirmed AAA games planned for release in late 2020 or early 2021 but that's not guaranteed. It seems we'll finally learn more about Gods & Monsters if Ubisoft's latest Ubisoft Forward Line-Up Reveal trailer is any indication. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/06/10/gods-monsters-reveal-trailer-e3-2019"] "Ubisoft Forward this September 10th will feature new games and big news on Ubisoft's upcoming lineup of games and content and it's right around the corner," the description for the trailer reads. While there's no confirmation of what games we can expect to see during the digital event, the trailer seemingly reveals what will be shown. Some clips appear to be from Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine, Watch Dogs Legion, Hyperscape, and some footage from what looks like Gods & Monsters. You can check out some screenshots we took while watching the trailer to see for yourself. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=gods-monsters-re-reveal-tease&captions=true"] If this trailer is any indication, we'll be learning more about Gods & Monsters on Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. PDT. If you're wondering why titles like Assassin's Creed Valhalla seem to be missing from the lineup, it's probably because that game was shown during July's Ubisoft Forward event. While waiting for Sept. 10, read about how Gods & Monsters will be on PS5 and Xbox Series X and then read about how some gameplay for Gods & Monsters leaked due to a Google Stadia bug. We previewed the game last year and you can read that to learn why we think it isn't just a Breath of the Wild clone. On PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game will play at 4K / 60 FPS, and include ray tracing. On PS5, the game will even make use of the DualSense controller's haptic feedback technology. Speaking to IGN, game director Phil Gaskell explained that next-gen SSDs have been a game-changer: "We've been working on the proprietary tech in the systems to reduce load times in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Poker Club. Loading is now practically non-existent, it makes the whole experience feel seamless, you won’t ever want to go back!" As for the addition of ray tracing, that too seems to have been a pleasant addition to the mix. "Ray tracing is a huge deal for us," explains Gaskell, "we knew we wanted to use it on PC, but weren’t sure how it would work on console. We were so impressed with how capable they are in that department. With ray traced lighting/shadows/reflections, Poker Club is brought to life. We’re happy to say It looks incredible on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X."
