Valve has added over three hours of developer commentary to Half-Life: Alyx. Sections of the commentary can be activated using floating headsets that have been added to Half-Life: Alyx's levels. Players need to simply pick the headphones up and place them on their heads to begin audio playback of the commentary. Each headset is located near one of 147 different points of interest that members of the development team will provide insight on. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/23/the-first-17-minutes-of-half-life-alyx"] Valve notes that the concluding weeks of Half-Life: Alyx's development was done during lockdown; developer commentary was originally intended to ship with the game at launch, but constraints meant it was delayed until now. Commentary has also had to be recorded by staff in their homes rather than at Valve's recording studio. For players to activate developer commentary, they will need to start a new game with commentary enabled. Valve warns that the commentary does feature "significant" spoilers, so is best saved for a second play-through.
