Marvel's WandaVision Gets January 2021 Premiere Date

Marvel's WandaVision will premiere on January 15, 2021 on Disney+. The series – centred on Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) – was expected to release in December of this year, but a Twitter announcement revealed the new date, and a motion poster for the show. The announcement means 2020 is the first year without an MCU-related release since 2009. Set after Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision will see Scarlet Witch and Vision living as a married couple in the suburban town of Westview - which seems to be a mysterious world that references multiple eras of US sitcoms, beginning with a full black-and-white episode filmed in front of a studio audience. That sitcom set-up won't be all we see however, with multiple members of the cast and crew explaining that it also includes full action scenes - actress Teyonnah Parris explained that the show is like "six Marvel movies packed into what they’re presenting as a sitcom.". We also know that part of the pitch for the series centred on an exploration of Scarlet Witch's full powers, which makes it feel more likely than ever that WandaVision will be the MCU's version of the House of M comic book event. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/11/11/new-wandavision-details-revealed-ign-now"] It's not been made clear why WandaVision has been pushed into January, after Disney previously listed it as a December 2020 project, but COVID-19 related production delays have altered much of Disney's slate this year. WandaVision is the first of 8 planned series that will act as part of the MCU, tying into the movies. Following WandaVision (which ties directly into Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness), we'll also see The Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, What If...?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
