The World Ends with You: The Animation Gets Its First Teaser Trailer

Square Enix's anime adaptation of The World Ends with You received its first teaser trailer and a few more details as to what fans of the 2007 Nintendo DS classic can expect from this new project. As reported by Funimation, The World Ends with You: The Animation will arrive in 2021 and follows "Neku Sakuraba as he’s thrust into a video game scenario in Shibuya called Reaper’s Game that will have him fighting for his life. Along with the allies he teams up with along the way, Neku will have to make it to the end to see his humanity again." The first teaser trailer stays faithful to the original's art style and the anime itself will be a retelling of the original game with expanded scenes. The official description from the teaser trailer's YouTube page is as follows;
"The main character Neku wakes up in the middle of a busy Shibuya Crossing Intersection unaware of how he got there. He’s in an alternate plane of existence called the Underground (UG). Unknowingly forced to participate in the “Reaper’s Game”, Neku must partner with Shiki, a teenage girl player whom he meets. Neku must fight to survive by completing the missions thrown at him and defeating the creatures called “Noise.” By doing so, he will confront the “Reaper’s Game” along with the truth buried deep inside his memory. “The only way to survive is to trust your partner” Will they survive the “Reaper’s Game”...?"
The World Ends with You: The Animation is directed by Domerica's Kazuya Ichikawa and is being produced by Domerica x Shin-EI Animation. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/10/10/the-world-ends-with-you-final-remix-review"] Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts' Tetsuya Nomura is also working on the project, and he was responsible for the main character designs and orchestration of the game. In 20018, The World Ends with You: Final Remix was released on Nintendo Switch and, in our review, we said it "is as good as ever in handheld mode, but it loses much of its appeal with motion controls." Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson Thinks the MCU's Phase 4 Will Embrace Diversity

Following MCU star Anthony Mackie's criticism of Marvel movies for lack of diversity, and his desire to use his status as the co-lead of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to push for more diverse representation on Marvel Studios' projects, Tessa Thompson, who will reprise her role as Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder, thinks that Phase 4 will more fully embrace those ideals. As part of Variety's Actors on Actors series, Thompson and Ramy's Ramy Youssef spoke about the topic and why it's so important to the fandom at large. "I think in this next phase of Marvel, we're really talking about what representation looks like in those spaces," Thompson explained. "Because the truth is these movies travel globally in such huge ways and if you can represent people that are of color, if you can represent people with disabilities, if you can represent the LGBTQIA community inside of these films, it's a pretty big deal." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=endgame-where-the-hell-were-these-characters-when-the-avengers-needed-them&captions=true"] "There's millions and millions of people, particularly young people, that show up to the cinema," Thompson continued. "And I think if you can show them something that looks like them, they feel valued. Particularly inside of these narratives of the comic books, that's what it's all about. It’s that our differences make us special." "I'm really excited that we're able to continue to push the bounds of that and that I'm able to do that with Valkyrie, because there's so many cool queer characters in the comic books and they should have a place on-screen." Since the onset of COVID-19, the MCU's Phase 4 schedule has been reshuffled a few times. The latest iteration has Thor: Love and Thunder opening February 11, 2022. Ragnarok director Taika Waititi will return for the film and has promised to "double down" on the craziness. Thor: Love and Thunder will feature Natalie Portman's Jane Foster as Thor and Christian Bale as a yet-to-be-revealed villain. HBO Max Replaces Batman v Superman Theatrical Cut with Ultimate Edition

HBO Max has swapped out the theatrical cut of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the three-hour Ultimate Edition. In an Instagram post, the streaming service posted: "The full 3-hour Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now streaming exclusively on HBO Max. Put that long weekend to good use." The jam-packed Ultimate Edition of Dawn of Justice includes a ton of axed story moments and character beats. Lois Lane becomes a more pivotal character when Lex Luthor's plot to frame Superman in explored more thoroughly. We see Superman asking Gotham citizens about Batman, Lex communicating with Steppenwolf, Jena Malone's Jenet Klyburn, and learn that Lois' "camera man," who met his gruesome end in Africa, was Jimmy Olsen. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=best-superhero-directors-cuts-you-can-stream-now&captions=true"] HBO Max was going to pull Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, and more DC films from its rotation on July 1, but after blowback from fans the company has expanded these films' run through December 2020. It was recently announced that Zack Snyder's "Snyder Cut" of Justice League will finally be completed in order to air on HBO Max in 2021. Shia LaBeouf Really Tattooed His Chest for Suicide Squad Director's Crime Movie

Shia LaBeouf really got his chest and torso heavily tattooed for Suicide Squad director David Ayer's new movie The Tax Collector. "He's one of the best actors I've worked with, and he's the most committed to body and soul," Ayer told /Film (via Newsweek). "He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I've never known anyone that committed." The Tax Collector sees LaBeouf play "Creeper," the right hand man and best friend of Bobby Soto's protagonist, David. One of the tattoos on LaBeouf's torso reads "Creeper," which sparked much speculation whether it was real when paparazzi photos of a shirtless LaBeouf surfaced online last year. [caption id="attachment_2375823" align="alignnone" width="720"]Shia LaBeouf as "Creeper" in The Tax Collector. (Credit: RLJE Films) Shia LaBeouf as "Creeper" in The Tax Collector. (Credit: RLJE Films)[/caption] In The Tax Collector, David and Creeper collect debts owed by local gangs to the crime lord Wizard. Their lives and business are upended when Wizard's old rival returns to L.A. from Mexico looking to take over. As you can see from the trailer below, LaBeouf appears very steely and intense in the role. Heavily tattooed characters are nothing new for a David Ayer film, as most notably seen in his adaptation of DC Comics' Suicide Squad that featured Jared Leto's Joker and his infamous "damaged" forehead tattoo. In recent months, Ayer has revealed morsels of new info about Suicide Squad, such as whether Joker intended to push Harley Quinn out of a helicopter, if an "Ayer Cut" of Suicide Squad would be easy to complete, that most of Jared Leto's Joker footage "remains unseen," and how Deadpool turned Suicide Squad into a comedy. Shia LaBeouf, meanwhile, explored what makes him tick as a human being and an actor in last year's autobiographical film Honey Boy, which won him rave reviews. LaBeouf both scripted and played a version of his own father in the indie drama. Viewers can see more of Shia LaBeouf's Creeper (and his real tattoos) when The Tax Collector -- which also stars Cinthya Carmona and George Lopez -- debuts in theaters, on digital, and On Demand on August 7.

Star Wars: Squadrons: HUD, Customisation and Advanced Mechanics All Optional

Star Wars: Squadrons will let players choose how 'realistic' they want their Star Wars experience to be, with customisation (including that on other players' ships), HUD elements, and advanced mechanics all optional. Speaking to IGN Japan, creative director Ian S. Frazier went into detail on a number of the upcoming starfighting game's mechanics, repeatedly making clear that players will have a choice on the experience they're looking for. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/18/star-wars-squadrons-gameplay-reveal-and-overview-trailer-ea-play-2020"] On customisation, for instance, it's been previously confirmed that the game's multiplayer modes will allow both ship exteriors and cockpits to be decorated. Frazier explains that every bit of flair - including cockpit toys and added holographic elements - has been designed to look as though it could exist in universe, but he understands that even that may not feel right to some fans. “Some players aren't going to want to see any of that,” admits Frazier. “It won't matter how plausible it is, they just want to keep it to exactly what we’ve seen in the films, no more and no less, and we totally get that. And so we have an option in the game to hide everybody else's cosmetics. So if you flip that on, then all of a sudden, if you want to put a racing stripe or whatever on your own TIE Fighter, you'll see it, but everybody else's is just going to look like a normal boilerplate TIE Fighter for you.” Similarly, the game's first-person perspective means that the game's cockpit readouts have been designed to offer all necessary information to the player. However, the game will add extra on-screen elements to help orient players, but these too can be switched off for those who want the full in-cockpit flight experience: "When you start the story," explains Frazier, "we ask if you want the standard experience - which we’d expect most players to take - or a hardcore mode, which gets rid of a bunch of UI that helps you localize yourself in space, and makes you rely entirely on the readouts in the cockpit. So for the folks that are newer to the genre, I’d expect them to play standard, and for the folks that have tonnes of flight experience, they might want to try that out.” [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/23/ea-wants-to-double-down-on-making-star-wars-games"] Similarly, the game's more advanced mechanics can be tweaked to players' tastes. For instance, Squadrons includes a power management system that allows players to choose how best to utilise their starship’s engines, weapons and shields. “By default, we keep that relatively basic,” says Frazier. “If I hit a button, I will instantly max a given system. Our more advanced players could turn that into advanced power management, and they're individually managing pips of power from one system to another. But that's not the experience that we give to an average new user." Star Wars: Squadrons will offer a single-player campaign as well as two multiplayer modes (with both online and AI options). It comes to PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Origin, Steam and Epic Games Store). It will be released for $39.99 USD on October 2. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Daniel Robson is Chief Editor of IGN Japan. Follow him on Twitter at @NoMoreDaniels. Lethal Weapon 5: Danny Glover Says Revival Plot Is Relevant to Current Events

Danny Glover has read a script for the proposed Lethal Weapon 5 movie, which he says has "very strong relevance" to current events. In an interview with Variety, Glover, who starred alongside Mel Gibson in all four Lethal Weapon movies, revealed that "there is something of a plan" for a fifth and final installment in the buddy-cop action series, though it still hasn't been completely locked down yet. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2017/10/27/is-lethal-weapon-5-happening"] "There has been a conversation about that in January," Glover admitted. "I don't want to give away the plot on the script that I read, but I found the plot had very strong relevance to some of things that are happening today. I can say that. But that was in January. History changes so fast... But yes, there's been talk about it. There is something of a plan." Glover hinted that the prospective project could be developed within a "political framework" that gives the team space to "attempt to confront the issue head-on," as he appeared to reference the recent impact of widespread protests against racism and police brutality. "I can only tell you, if it does happen, there is something extraordinary in it," he teased. "If Lethal Weapon gives us some sort of contribution to understanding a little bit more... It would be interesting to do. It would be interesting to see how we take this within the political framework we are in; the economic framework that we are in. And especially that framework as opposed to the communities that have been affected by the kind of police violence, the kind of police standards, and the power that they exert as well. And what would be interesting from that vantage point is what that attempt could be like at this particular moment. "And maybe it will attempt to confront the issue head-on, within whatever script comes out." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-10-best-80s-action-movies&captions=true"] The first rumblings that Lethal Weapon 5 might be happening surfaced back in 2008, as it emerged that Shane Black planned to direct Roger Murtaugh's and Martin Riggs' next adventure. However, after several rumoured changes, the project was squashed in 2012 when Richard Donner revealed that Gibson had turned down a reprisal of his role. After that, nothing came over the radio for a while. In January of this year, however, news of the long-gestating sequel finally hit the airwaves, as producer Dan Lin, who served as executive producer on the Lethal Weapon TV series, revealed that Warner Bros. had been looking to reload the beloved franchise with the original stars on board to reunite with the series director. Rocky IV: Sylvester Stallone Confirms He's Working on a Director's Cut

Sylvester Stallone has revealed that he is working on a director's cut of Rocky IV, which he says will be "amazing." Stallone posted an image to promote the extended cut of Rambo: Last Blood on his Instagram page, prompting one fan to ask whether a director's cut of Rocky Balboa would ever be released. In response, Stallone admitted that he is "not doing that," however, he did give his fans another reason to fist pump the air. "I am doing a directors cut on Rocky IV which will be amazing!!!!!" he revealed in the same comment. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/11/07/the-rocky-creed-saga-in-7-minutes"] Rocky IV, one of the more triumphant entries in the iconic sports-film franchise, sees Rocky Balboa's former nemesis and best friend, Apollo Creed, killed in a fight with a smarmy Russian fighter. In the aftermath, Rocky sets out on a path of revenge as he heads to Russia to take down Ivan Drago. The 1985 film was a total knockout success at the box office, earning more than $300m worldwide, the most of any Rocky film. It also held the top spot as the highest-grossing sports film of all time, right up until the release of the biographical sports drama The Blind Side in 2009. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-weirdest-training-methods-from-the-rocky-and-creed-movies&captions=true"] The events of the film serve as the backstory to the plot of Creed II, in which Apollo Creed's son, Donnie, comes up against a new component in the ring, as he accepts a challenge from Ivan Drago's son, Viktor. In our review of Creed II, we said the story failed to "let the past go, abandoning the exciting new path blazed by [Ryan] Coogler in favor of evoking what's come before, with undeniably diminished results." Shortly after its release, Stallone announced that he was stepping out of the ring and officially retiring his iconic Rocky character for good, having portrayed the boxing legend in eight movies in total. Other Publishers May Be Considering Raising Prices on PS5 and Xbox Series X

Following the news that NBA 2K21 will cost $10 more on PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X, the research firm IDG Consulting has said that other game publishers are also considering price increases for their games. Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, IDG President and CEO Yoshio Osaki explained how game pricing has "remained flat since 2005, whereas TV and movie pricing has increased significantly." "The last time that next-gen launch software pricing went up was in 2005 and 2006, when it went from $49.99 to $59.99 at the start of the Xbox 360 and PS3 generation," Osaki said. "During that time, the costs and prices in other affiliated verticals have gone up." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/02/nba-2k21-ps5-xbox-series-x-versions-will-cost-more"] These other affiliated verticals include next-gen console game production costs, which have seen increases of "200% to 300%, depending on the IP, studio and genre," without an increase in the price of the games. For comparisons sake, "cinema ticket prices have risen 39%, Netflix subscription costs have gone up 100%, and Cable TV packages have risen by 105%." "Even with the increase to $69.99 for next-gen, that price increase from 2005 to 2020 next-gen is only up 17%, far lower than the other comparisons," Osaki continued. "While the cost of development and publishing have gone up, and pricing in other entertainment verticals has also gone up substantially, next-gen software pricing has not reflected these increases. $59.99 to $69.99 does not even cover these other cost increases completely, but does move it more in the proper direction." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=nba-2k21-current-and-next-gen-cover-art-kobe-bryant-damian-lillard-and-zion-williamson&captions=true"] He concludes by stating that "Not every game should garner the $69.99 price point on next-gen, but flagship AAAs such as NBA 2K merit this pricing more than others." This news of NBA 2K21's price increase was revealed alongside the Kobe Bryant Mamba Forever Edition that celebrates the late basketball legend who played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1996 to 2016. World of Warcraft Sees Huge In-Game Memorials Following Death of Streamer

Major in-game memorials have been taking place following the death of professional World of Warcraft player and streaming personality Byron "Reckful" Bernstein. Bernstein reportedly died by suicide earlier this week - he was 31 years old. Players from around the world across multiple WoW and WoW Classic servers gathered in Azeroth's Stormwind Cathedral to kneel and celebrate Reckful's life. The World of Warcraft team paid tribute to Bernstein on Twitter, calling him "one of the most memorable WoW players of all time." Twitch issued its own statement, noting Reckful's pioneering impact on the platform "Byron was someone who talked about his struggles to help make room for others to do the same", the statement reads. "As we process this loss, we have to recognize that the stigma around mental health and treatment often prevents people from seeking and getting the help they need." If you are having suicidal thoughts or just need to talk to someone, text the Crisis Text Line at 741-741 or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 if you're in the US. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat Pull Out of Evo Online

Capcom and NetherRealm have announced they will be pulling out of Evo Online due to allegations against Evo organizer Joey Cueller. This is part of a larger alleged sexual abuse scandal erupting in the community. NetherRealms announced it would pull Mortal Kombat 11 from the Evo Online lineup on Twitter expressing "solidarity with those who have spoken out against abuse." Capcom followed soon after, specifically citing the "recent allegations of misconduct made against Joey Cueller" as a reason for not participating in Evo Online. This past week, several Super Smash Bros. esports competitors and members came forward with allegations of abuse from those within the community. Well-known personas were implicated on social media as alleged abusers, with some victims reportedly underage when the abuse occurred. Joey Cueller, president of Evo, faced allegations from members of the community that claimed Cueller (who also goes by Mr. Wizard) paid out tokens to local members of an arcade, who were underage at the time, to jump into a pool in only their underwear. In a statement by Evo, the company announced that “The behavior in these accusations runs directly counter to Evo’s mission of building a safe, welcoming environment for all of our players and attendees. We take this responsibility seriously. Accordingly, Joey has been placed on administrative leave pending a third-party investigation.” Cueller was only one of the many people named in a community-wide scandal that claims widespread sexual misconduct from within the fighting game community. A similar scandal hit the community last year following Evo 2019. Evo Online was created as a digital replacement event after Evo 2020's physical event was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. IGN has reached out to Evo for comment. Michael Bay's Pandemic Movie Halted by Actors Union

Producer Michael Bay's pandemic thriller Songbird was expected to be one of the first Hollywood projects to enter production in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the film has encountered a new complication. Songbird has been hit with a "Do Not Work" order by the actors union SAG-AFTRA. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the union issued the order after serious concerns were raised about the unclear safety precautions being employed on-set. Until Bay completes the signatory process, SAG-AFTRA is banning its members from participating in the movie. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-delayed-movie-due-to-coronavirus-so-far&captions=true"] The union writes, "The producer of the picture entitled Songbird, has failed to complete the signatory process and is therefore not signed to any applicable SAG-AFTRA agreement. As such, SAG-AFTRA members are hereby instructed to withhold any acting services or perform any covered work for this production until further notice from the union." Songbird is a joint effort between Bay and production companies Invisible Narratives and Catchlight Films. Adam Mason (Blood River) is directing based on a script he co-wrote with Simon Boyes. The cast includes Demi Moore, Craig Robinson, Paul Walter Hauser and Peter Stormare. A great many film and TV productions across the world have been suspended due to the pandemic. While Los Angeles County is allowing movie studios to resume production, a recent surge in new COVID-19 cases in California has some questioning whether it's safe for cast and crew members to resume work. Meanwhile, the release dates of upcoming summer blockbusters like Tenet continue to be pushed back, causing AMC Theaters to push back its planned reopening date. AMC also responded to public pressure by reversing its policy of not requiring guests to wear face masks. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/22/tenet-official-trailer-2"] It's unclear how long Songbird's production will be shut down. The film currently has no release date. Horizon Forbidden West Release Date, Gameplay, and Everything Else We Know

Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to 2017’s Horizon: Zero Dawn, promises to continue the adventures of Aloy as she journeys across the post-post-apocalyptic U.S., fighting robot dinosaurs, and exploring sunken ruins. With PlayStation and Sony announcing the game at their June 2020 PlayStation 5 reveal event, the speculation train has officially left the station.

[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/18/everything-we-know-about-horizon-forbidden-west-so-far"]

We’ve gone ahead and rounded up everything we know about Horizon Forbidden West, including release date, story, new gameplay, and new machine creatures Aloy will encounter, and more.

Horizon: Forbidden West Release Date

Horizon Forbidden West is confirmed for the PS5 and Guerilla Games is “aiming” to release it in 2021. That’s all developer Guerilla Games has said about the sequel so far. That means it won’t be a release window game for the PlayStation 5, which is launching during the “holiday 2020” window.

Horizon Forbidden West Story: New Threats, New Locations

When we last left Aloy at the end of Horizon Zero Dawn, she had defeated the rampant A.I. HADES. Along the way, Aloy also learned the truth about the world: How a company named Faro Automated Solutions lost control of its army of military robots that could subsist on any biomass for fuel, and how Aloy is a clone of Dr. Elisabet Sobeck, the researcher in charge of “Project Zero Dawn” (a vast network of cloning facilities) and how GAIA, the A.I. system that was corrupted by HADES, was responsible for reseeding the earth after it was once again habitable -- and that’s just the Cliff Notes version. Aloy riding along a beach filled with red blight vines

In the reveal trailer, we see a new threat emerge, which Guerilla Games calls the “red blight.” It manifests as a moldy mass of red vines that can infect its way into lifeforms and the surrounding environment. Aloy finds a fox (a real one, not a robo-fox) that’s been infected and on death’s door before another, considerably larger creature interrupts her.

It’s currently unclear if the red blight infects robotic lifeforms rather than just organic, like the corruption that plagued the robots in the first game. The red blight is also seemingly responsible for the “supercell storms,” a chaotic swirl of wind and red lightning that covers the sky.

horizon forbidden west super cell storm

Aloy’s journey to address this new threat will evidently take her from Utah out to the west coast, specifically a post-post-apocalyptic San Francisco. In the reveal trailer, we see an underwater ruin resembling San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts, which is a mere eight-minute walk from the north bay coastline.

All that said, HADES was not fully destroyed by Aloy. Sylens (played by Lance Reddick), the former leader of the HADES-worshipping Eclipse organization and the deuteragonist of Horizon Zero Dawn, managed to contain a portion of HADES in a mysterious jar-like device and take it with him to an unknown desert location where a giant war machine lay dormant. There, Sylens told HADES he would discover who originally sent the signal to activate the malicious A.I. It’s still unclear if all the red blight plaguing the west is HADES’ doing, though. Sylens has also seemingly joined a new faction that’s fond of capturing and corrupting robots.

Other brief glimpses in the reveal trailer show that Aloy will at some point visit the Sierra Nevada mountains (where another dormant war machine rests) and the Embarcadero Ferry Building on San Francisco’s Pier. We also see Aloy dust off a sign reading “casino” in simplified Chinese, indicating we may visit Las Vegas, although it could be a part of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Another few shots show the rounded top of the mountains El Capitan and Half Dome in Yosemite, about 200 real-life miles east of San Francisco. A final shot gives us a sweeping view of San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay

We haven’t seen any actual gameplay of Horizon Forbidden West so far, but a few images in the reveal trailer indicate some changes are possibly on the way. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/06/17/horizon-forbidden-west-guerrilla-talks"]

The most notable addition seems to be Aloy donning a breathing mask and diving beneath the waves of San Francisco’s waters. Aloy can be seen swimming between some seaweed and reeds before an alligator-like snapjaw swims overhead. Aloy appears to hide amongst the reeds, much like the tall grass that provided stealth in the first game, allowing the snapjaw to swim by unaware. It’s currently unclear how combat will work underwater, or if Aloy is fish food the moment she’s caught by a larger predator.

We also see Aloy climbing a ludicrously steep cliffside. Some criticized Horizon Zero Dawn for only allowing players to climb certain stretches of rock, rather than allowing them to climb anything like in 2017’s Breath of the Wild. It’s unclear if Guerilla Games is shooting for more traversal options or if this was just meant to show off the great heights she’ll be reaching in her travels.

As for traversal options, we see Aloy once again riding a horse-like steed (probably a broadhead), but the trailer does show a new type of flying machine, dubbed “sunwings,” that resemble pterodactyls mixed with vultures. Guerilla hasn’t said whether or not you’ll be able to fly on these creatures in Forbidden West, but fans can certainly hope.

A final shot of Aloy facing down a tribe sporting corrupted and armored elephant-like robots may indicate that Guerilla Games is aiming for larger battles between factions of humans and machines, though we’ve yet to see anything of that nature yet, and Guerilla hasn’t confirmed anything of the sort.

Guerilla Games has also stated that due to the PlayStation 5’s computing power, there will be virtually no loading time when fast-traveling across the map, which the game’s director has stated will be a bit bigger than Zero Dawn’s.

New Creatures in Horizon Forbidden West

One of Horizon Zero Dawn’s biggest draws was its variety of robotic creatures, from the tyrannical thunderjaw, the towering tallnecks, to the aerial glinthawks and more. Some new creatures were briefly teased in Horizon Forbidden West’s reveal trailer.

Here we see the “shellsnapper,” resembling a massive tortoise with its powerful jaws and moss-covered backside. It appears to reside in swampy environments, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it show up across much of the coastal environments we’ll see throughout the game.

We also see the dormant remains of a “metal devil,” the immense machines that instigated the world-ending Faro plague. It’s unclear if we’ll see one in action, considering even one of these murderous machines would spell doom for the surrounding area. horizon forbidden west creatures metal devil

We briefly see a hologram of a dragon flying around Aloy in a desert environment, although it’s unclear if this is just a hologram of a folkloric illustration of a dragon or an actual robotic creature.

We can see Sylens and his new crew subduing boar-like robots for their seemingly nefarious means.

The new “sunwings” can be seen flying above the San Francisco skyline. They’re definitely smaller than the Glinthawks that pursued Aloy in Zero Dawn, but it’s unclear if Aloy will be able to subdue and ride one.

Lastly, we get a look at the “trumortusk,” an elephant-like robot, some of which have been overridden by a tribe of humans and outfitted with spiked armor. The scene of the tribe and their trumortusks preparing to charge Aloy echoes the memorable mumakil charge in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King during the battle of Pelennor Fields.
