Avatar 2 Isn't Coming Next Year After All

Avatar 2 won't be hitting theaters next year, as James Cameron's long-gestating sequel has apparently been delayed once again.

The director revealed the news during an interview with The Star, explaining the reason for the delay is because of how massive of an undertaking it is to develop several sequels all at once.

"Well, 2018 is not happening," Cameron said. "We haven't announced a firm release date."

Cameron and his team are not only making Avatar 2, but the planned third, fourth, and fifth films in the franchise all at once, which is, according to Cameron, in part a reason for the delay.
