Marvel's Moon Knight series on Disney+ has reportedly found its director in Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney and Marvel Studios have tapped Diab to serve as the director on their upcoming Moon Knight series, which is set to tell the story of Marc Spector, a former soldier of fortune, whose encounter with an Egyptian god of vengeance and moon deity, Khonshu, inspires his transformation into a costumed vigilante. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/10/26/oscar-isaac-in-talks-for-disney-pluss-moon-knight"] Diab first came onto the scene with his directorial debut Cairo 678, which was released in December 2010, just one month before the Egyptian revolution. A few years later, he helmed Clash from a script that he wrote with his brother Khaled Diab. The film was officially selected by the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and opened the Festival's Un Certain Regard section that year. He also wrote The Island franchise films, which are among the highest-grossing Egyptian and Arabic-language films of all time. The acclaimed filmmaker joins the Moon Knight team alongside Jeremy Slater, one of the minds behind Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, who is overseeing and leading the writer's room on the series, which is said to be circling Oscar Isaac to play the titular role. If he officially boards the project, Isaac will become one of several actors who have appeared in both the MCU and Fox's X-Men cinematic universe, having previously portrayed the main antagonist in 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse. At one time, Kevin Feige indicated that Moon Knight and fellow Disney+ series' She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel would all wrap production by the end of 2020, though the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic seems to have delayed that timetable significantly, with many of the original production dates now becoming outdated.
