Tom Cruise Says Top Gun 2 'Is Definitely Happening'

Tom Cruise feels the need for a Top Gun sequel, and he says it's "definitely happening."

While promoting The Mummy, Cruise confirmed Top Gun 2 is on the way with the Australian morning show Sunrise, according to The Guardian. "I’m going to start filming it probably in the next year," he said.

"I know. It’s happening. It is definitely happening ... you’re the first people that I’ve said this to."

There's been talk about Top Gun 2 for years. Back in 2014, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said the sequel would revolve around drone usage. And producer David Ellison built off that idea in 2015, mentioning that Top Gun 2 would explore "the end of an era of dogfighting."
