Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Opening Weekend Box Office Compared to Every MCU Movie

After a strong international start last week, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 debuted at the top of the box office with a $145 million opening weekend domestic haul. That total makes Vol. 2 one of the biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts ever, but how exactly does it stack up to the entire MCU.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's estimated $145 million opening makes it the fifth biggest MCU debut ever, unadjusted for inflation. That also represents a 54 percent increase over the first Guardians' impressive debut back in 2014, when it pulled in $94.3 million, unadjusted.
