WWE's Miz and Maryse Aren't Cena and Nikki Fans

In pro wrestling these days, the veil has been lifted more than ever, as various programs the WWE produces give insight into what goes into creating a wrestling persona and storyline and show the superstars in their daily life, letting us see in-ring bitter enemies as the actual friends they are.

All of which makes this Sunday’s WrestleMania 33 match between John Cena and his real life girlfriend, Nikki Bella, versus the Miz and his real life wife, Maryse, all the more intriguing. On SmackDown, the two duos have had some notably vicious promos lobbied at one another, ones that bring in a lot of issues and insults that work great as drama and certainly feel real (which the best wrestling angles often do, of course) – added to because Maryse’s accusations about Nikki and her sister, Brie, were first said on Total Divas.

IGN: What made you want to end this series where you started it, with a new generation of Grimm taking over in the form of adult Kelly and adult Diana?

JIM KOUF: I think it was a nice fairy tale ending bookend to the series, so I think kind of always knew we wanted to end

It's been a huge year for Alexa Bliss, as the wrestler found herself called up from NXT to the WWE main roster, on SmackDown Live, and then went on to become the SmackDown Women's Champion (twice!) in just a few months time.

Along the way, Bliss has made a name of herself as one of SmackDown's most notorious heels, always ready for a sneer to the crowd or a biting comment or cheap shot at her opponent. Bliss also has stood out thanks to her ring gear, which often is inspired by comic book and movie characters, from a Harley Quinn-esque look, to her Halloween guise in Freddy Krueger-type gear.

Every Disney Live-Action Remake In the Works

Between Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland, Disney has developed quite a knack for remaking their classic animated library in live-action and letting the money flow in. And like it or not, there are plenty more live-action remakes in the pipeline for years to come.

We've put together a handy slideshow breaking down every one of these remakes currently in development. From Mulan to The Lion King to Aladdin, these are the Disney movies that aim to keep the old favorites alive:

It's not hard to see why Disney is putting so much muscle behind these remakes. Beauty and the Beast opened to a record-breaking $174.8 million earlier this month, beating Batman v Superman's record as the highest-grossing March opening and clocking in as the sixth biggest opening ever.

Rock Band Guitar Peripheral Maker Mad Catz Files for Bankruptcy

After a difficult period of decline, peripheral maker Mad Catz has filed for bankruptcy.

Mad Catz "has been unable to find a satisfactory solution to its cash liquidity problems," according to former boss Karen McGinnis.

Troubles became apparent last year when Mad Catz announced lay-offs during its financial report following Rock Band 4 sell-through numbers being lower than expected. Those low numbers triggered a company-wide restructuring, part of which included a 37% reduction of its workforce.

The day before its financial briefing, several Mad Catz officials resigned from their positions with the company.

How Rogue One Bridged the Gap Between the Prequels and the Original Trilogy

Like so many of us, Doug Chiang grew up loving Star Wars, but his path would lead to him having a huge impact on the series he adored. Thanks to his time at ILM -- where he contributed to many films throughout the 1990s -- Chiang eventually got to work for George Lucas directly on both The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones as design director, and he then returned to the franchise for The Force Awakens. On Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Chiang had his most crucial role yet, as one of the film's production designers, working to seamlessly blend in new elements into the iconic world introduced in the original Star Wars movie in 1977.

With Rogue One hitting Blu-ray this coming Tuesday, on the heels of its digital HD release this past week, I spoke to Chiang about his work on the film. Chiang discussed what it was like diving into such a specific and important part of Star Wars history and how the film helped bridge the gap between the prequels and the original trilogy from a design perspective.

But this will mark the first time he actually gets to make a female-centric comic book movie.

9 of the Best Cyborgs Ever!

You know you love them -- all those sci-fi human heroes and villains with a little bit extra where it counts. Get your minds out of the gutter, I’m talking about cyborgs! Part human, part machine, and ready for action! Oh, never mind…

Before we begin, it’s best to clarify our criteria for this list. Having co-written entire books about various film genres (Zombiemania, Cinema and Sorcery), I’ve learned that it’s extremely important to let your readers know why you’re selecting the films you’ve chosen to include; even if they wind up disagreeing -- and they will -- then at least you’ve demonstrated your thought process. And in this case, we need to know precisely how we’re defining a cyborg in order to justify these character choices. We’ll go straight to Merriam-Webster, which defines “cyborg” as:

The Dark Tower Release Date Pushed Back Again

Sony has pushed back the release date for its The Dark Tower film adaptation once again.

Entertainment Weekly reports the movie, which was originally slated to release on July 28, will now open in theaters a week later on August 4.

Sony's upcoming The Emoji Movie was reportedly the reason behind the delay, as the animated film has switched release dates with The Dark Tower. The studio wants to give The Emoji Movie “more summertime play” before school kicks off in August, which isn't a point of concern with The Dark Tower as it isn't as reliant on young viewers.

There has been barely any promotional material for The Dark Tower, but Stephen King did reveal a new poster for the film just a few weeks ago. Nikolaj Arcel is directing the movie, which stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as Walter Padick.

Comparing the New It to the Original

If you're having trouble sleeping lately, it's probably because the first trailer for It has hit the Internet. This is the second time Hollywood has adapted Stephen King's beloved 1986 novel, after the 1990 TV miniseries, and the remake looks to be even more terrifying than the original.

Despite the change from small screen to big, and the gap of 27 years, we have noticed some pretty direct similarities between the two versions in the new trailer. Check out our slideshow comparison below (drag the slider between images) to see what's changed and what's remained the same in this tale about a demonic clown terrorizing a band of heroic children.

It is directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama) with the screenplay by Chase Palmer, Cary Fukunaga and Gary Dauberman. The story will be based on King's novel and follows the small town of Derry, Maine, whose children suddenly begin to mysteriously disappear. A group of young kids -- the Loser's Club -- find themselves going up against the evil clown Pennywise, who's been murdering and kidnapping children for centuries.

The Woman Woman Footage We Saw Looked Good

Warner Bros. showed attendees at Wednesday's CinemaCon never-before-seen footage from the DC superhero's solo film, opening in June.

Director Patty Jenkins and cast member Chris Pine were on hand to present close to ten minutes of footage to the National Association of Theater Owners. (Gal Gadot was overseas, having just recently given birth, but she sent a pre-recorded greeting.)

Four scenes were shown, the first two being a boat journey sequence followed by an action scene in London and then a major battle set-piece set in World War I Belgium.

Check out the slideshow below for our breakdown of the footage (be mindful of some SPOILERS):

Judging from the footage screened at CinemaCon, Wonder Woman looks pretty good. The scenes provided an overview of the look and tone of the film, Diana's (Gal Gadot) personality, her relationship with Steve Trevor (Pine), and her journey from innocence to the more world-weary warrior we meet in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Fast and Furious Franchise Would Cause $523M in Damage

The thing about a street fight is the street always wins — and leaves whoever started the fight with a massive bill of damages.

Insurance company InsuretheGap.com (as spotted by THR), has assessed all of the damage done throughout the first seven films in the Fast and Furious franchise, and determined that the real-life cost of every car crash, car explosion, and car crashes into buildings that then explode would cost over 419.4 million pounds, or about $523.3 million USD.

The W Motors Lykan Hypersport, seen flying through the air between three buildings in Abu Dhabi during Furious 7, is the mot expensive car destroyed in the entire series, with an estimated $3.46 million USD value. 169 cars sustain some form of damage throughout the series, while 142 are absolutely destroyed. (There's a good chance The Fate of the Furious will considerably up these numbers if the scenes teased in its latest trailer are any indication.)

The Rogue Jedi Who Needs a Star Wars Spinoff

When you picture the Jedi Order, who are the first faces who come to mind? Yoda? Obi-Wan? It makes sense for the Jedi you think of immediately to be ones who embody the principles of the Order. In other words, Jedi who follow the code and regularly spout words of wisdom. But I find it's fun to color outside the lines now and again. Enter Quinlan Vos.

The Kiffar Jedi was part of the Order during the time of the Galactic Republic. He had a maverick reputation that is a little reminiscent of Qui-Gon Jinn and a little of Anakin Skywalker. We know they weren't afraid of breaking the rules or going against the Council and neither is Quinlan. On top of his tendency to follow a path outside the usual rule book, Quinlan has a sarcastic tone and devil-may-care, flippant attitude. That combination means he isn't everyone's cup of tea; he wasn't voted Most Likely to Be Stoic and Silent in his Padawan graduating class.

Mission: Impossible 6 Won't Star Jeremy Renner

Mission: Impossible 6 reportedly won't feature the return of Jeremy Renner's William Brandt.

According to Showbiz 411, the actor is instead busy with two upcoming MCU movies. In addition to Marvel's The Avengers: Infinity War, Renner will reportedly also make an appearance as Hawkeye in Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Potentially filling the void left by Renner's absence from MI:6 is Superman actor Henry Cavil, whose involvement in the project was announced earlier this month by director Christopher McQuarrie. Last month, McQuarrie shed light on the film, saying it will feature a few familiar faces and provide a different look at Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, when it opens in theaters on July 27, 2018.

Jordan Peele Reportedly In Talks to Direct Live-Action Akira

Key & Peele co-creator and Get Out writer-director, Jordan Peele is rumoured to be in discussions to direct the live-action remake of manga and anime classic, Akira.

The Tracking Board reports that Warner Bros. - led by Get Out's critical and commercial success - has held "encouraging" talks with Peele about taking up the reins of the long-gestating project.

Showrunner for Daredevil Season 2, Marco J. Ramirez has reportedly written the most recent version of the script (although what that script involves is anyone's guess, not least because the original film could become a trilogy in live-action form). However, it's expected that Peele would at least edit that script for any version he directed.

Aquaman Designs Suggest Lord of the Rings Underwater

Aquaman star Jason Momoa appeared at CinemaCon Wednesday to promote his DC superhero's solo film, which hits theaters December 2018.

Momoa, who said he was just hours away from flying to Australia to begin working on Aquaman, introduced a brief video and recorded message from the film's director, James Wan.

The video included no actual movie footage as filming has not yet begun. Instead, attendees screened conceptual imagery to get a sense of the scope and design of Wan's film. And it looked truly epic, the director's grandest undertaking yet. Furious 7 may have shown what Wan could do in terms of action sequences, but this Aquaman video hinted at what Wan might achieve when working at a scale not dissimilar to Peter Jackson's Middle-earth saga.

This was the Original Ending of Frozen

Disney's animated smash hit Frozen originally had a completely different ending.

Warning: Spoilers for Frozen ahead...

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Frozen's producer Peter Del Vecho revealed that Elsa was the villain when the movie was first being developed. Elsa acted like a "self-proclaimed Snow Queen" and was purely evil, with the story taking heavy inspirations from Hans Christian Andersen's classic tale. Further, Anna and Elsa weren't sisters.

"We started out with an evil female villain and an innocent female heroine, and the ending involved a big epic battle with snow monsters that Elsa had created as her army,” Vecho said.

How Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s Powerful Nostalgia Connected Me to My Mother

The first game I ever played was The Legend of Zelda on NES. Well, I wasn’t really playing.

My mom, who passed away in 2009, would play, handing me a second controller while she explored Hyrule. And as I’ve returned to a different, but equally as mysterious version of that world in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I am brought back to those early days of a scrolling, 8-bit Hyrule. One that seemed so filled with danger, but one that, with my mother, we could tackle together.

As I’ve explored more of Breath of the Wild’s Hyrule, which lends itself to its own unique type of multiplayer, I am struck by how similarly the adventures unfold, full of mystery and agency that makes the experience feel so tailor-made to me. And the further I dive into its secrets, the more I wonder what my mom would have thought of Breath of the Wild.

Gears of War 4 to Begin Seasons for Ranked Play, Adds Rewards

Some changes are coming to ranked play in Gears of War 4. As well as basic improvements and additions, the first ever ranked Season will soon be under way.

According to the announcement on the Gears of War website, players will take part in placement matches and earn a rank which will go up and down based on performance. The optimal length of the season is still being determined.

As for Season rewards, you'll earn parts of some new weapon skin sets based on your rank, which ranges through Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onyx, and Diamond.

The current matchmaking system will be receiving an update over the next few days, which should "provide improved team balance in Ranked Play." The Skill Ratings system is also being improved, and by taking your change in skill over time into account, should provide a more accurate rating for you.

Rocket League Dev on Game's Growth, Future Plans

One of the biggest challenges facing Rocket League developer Psyonix, according to the studio's Vice President Jeremy Dunham, is keeping up with the pace of the game's rapid growth.

"It’s sort of a race, to grow the company at a rate somewhat comparable to how fast the game is growing," Dunham said while speaking to IGN about the game past success and future, including its potential for coming to the Nintendo Switch.

"It’s been both flattering and a whole bunch of work because every time we think we’ve hit some sort of plateau or maybe the game is settling down, our community shows us, no, it’s not even close yet," he explained. According to Dunham, Rocket League set records for both the most games played and most players in a single month in December 2016. That most players in a month record was then broken in January — then again in February.

Watch Dogs 2's Multiplayer DLC Will Now Be Free

Showd0wn, Watch Dog 2's multiplayer mode, will be available for free across all platforms from April 17, 2017.

Showd0wn - described as an "endgame challenge for experienced players" on the Ubisoft blog - will offer three competitive matches: Steal the HDD, a King of the Hill-style match called Doomload, and a domination mode entitled Erase/Protect the Servers. All modes will be available across "15 distinct locations" that will "flow seamlessly from one to the next".

Showd0wn was previously going to be a part of the paid-for No Compromise DLC pack.

“There are two main drivers behind making Showd0wn free for all of our players,” says Kris Young, Watch Dogs 2’s live producer. “The first is that we want everyone to be able to participate and play it. We really wanted to have as many people as possible playing the mode for a better challenge, better matchmaking time and quality, and a healthier, more active community.

Shadowverse: Talking Tempest of the Gods with Cygames

I’ve had a blast playing Shadowverse over the last year. Developed by Tokyo-based Cygames (a studio well-known in Japan for its hits Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy) this anime-infused card game takes cues from Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone, but is ultimately gratifyingly unique. That’s partly because of its innovative Evolution gameplay mechanic, but also because every class has a very defined identity driven by bespoke resources and abilities. In this game, combo decks and super greedy control decks are alive and well.

To get an insight into Shadowverse as a whole, but more specifically, the goals and design process behind its third expansion, Tempest of the Gods, which is available from tomorrow, I sat down with Lead Game Designer (and former Magic the Gathering pro) Naoyuki Miyashita and Card Designer Yuichiro Sato. (I also spoke with Game Producer and Executive Director at Cygames, Yuito Kimura, but that will be published separately, so stay tuned for that interview.)

Wreck-It Ralph 2 is Called Ralph Breaks the Internet

Disney's Wreck-It Ralph sequel is officially called Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Disney revealed the name of the sequel to its 2012 smash hit at this year's CinemaCon, and said that Jane Lynch (the original's Sergeant Calhoun) and Jack McBrayer (who played Fix-it Felix) would be returning alongside John C.Reilly as Ralph.

The original creatives will also be returning, including directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, and producer Clark Spencer. “To take these characters we love and have them enter the enormous world of the internet has given us so much to explore,” said Moore in a press release. “Our production team has been hard at work designing a world that takes something we all think we know – the internet – but shows it in a whole new, imaginative way.”

Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman, who starred in NBC's hit comedy series Parks and Recreation together, are going to be reunited to work on the project. Poehler is looking forward to conquering her fear of paper mache, while Offerman boasts a wealth of knowledge in the woodworking world, owning his own woodshop and holding a spot in the New York Times best-selling list in his field.

The Handmade Project invites participants of all ages and creative specialties to apply on their website, which also states the need for availability from August 2017 to December 2017 as a loose production date.

Spider-Man's Damage Control Explained

There have been rumblings about Damage Control making its Marvel Cinematic Universe debut for several years now, with ABC ordering a put pilot for a potential TV series back in October, 2015. Things have gone dormant since then, but there's new hope for Damage Control's MCU prospects thanks to Spider-Man: Homecoming and it's looking like the organization will be appearing in the upcoming Tom Holland-starring film.

With that in mind, now is the perfect time for a refresher on what Damage Control is and how it might fit into the increasingly complex tapestry that is the MCU.

Some Spider-Man: Homecoming spoilers and speculation follow.

Damage Control was conceived in the late 1980s by writer Dwayne McDuffie and artist Ernie Colón as "a sitcom within the Marvel Universe." Basically, the various Damage Control comics take a more comedic, ground-level approach to the Marvel Universe, focusing on the collateral damage caused by massive battles between heroes and villains. Damage Control are usually the ones tasked with cleaning up after each disaster and keeping New York City in tiptop shape. Needless to say, it's a full-time job.

Now, these aren't all grim, ghoulish, monsters like Bray Wyatt, as "monster gimmick" wrestlers very rarely held the world gold -- save for Undertaker and Kane -- but they are performers who, for varying reasons, broke the particular mold at the time for what was considered an apex champion. From Charismatic Enigmas to Goat-Faced B Plus Players to Iraqi Turncoats, here are 8 outside-the-box, unlikely world champions.

Now there is a notable missing feature. The modded N64 doesn't let you attach the Joy-Cons to the Switch whiled docked.

Decoding Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix's Titles

Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix releases today for the PlayStation 4, and contains, in one form or another, six Kingdom Hearts games. However, what each of those games actually is, and what their titles mean, may be confusing for newcomers picking up the collection.

So, to clear things up for those looking to jump into the series, and offer a refresher for those returning to it, we’re taking a look at all six games included in the collection and decoding just what exactly those names mean.

Even the collection’s title itself might sound confusing to those uninitiated with the franchise — wouldn’t Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 just be Kingdom Hearts 4? Well, no, because we’re still waiting on Kingdom Hearts 3, but the title represents that this is a combination of two previous collections — Kingdom Hearts 1.5 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMix. Each collection contained two fully remastered games each, as well as a watchable, cinematic remastering of one game each. All six of those entires are included in 1.5 + 2.5.
