Star Trek 4 Hires Franchise's First Female Director

Star Trek 4 has reportedly hired the film franchise's first female director.

Variety reports S.J. Clarkson has been tapped to helm the fourth Trek film. Plot details nor an official release date haven't been revealed. But recent reports suggest it would feature Chris Hemsworth's George Kirk meeting his son James T. Kirk, portrayed by Chris Pine.

Paramount announced a sequel to Star Trek Beyond in 2016, with J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay penning the script. Little has said been said about the film up until now. Clarkson is known for her work on such shows as Dexter, Orange is the New Black, Jessica Jones, and Marvel's The Defenders.
