5 Things the Arrowverse Can Learn From Black Lightning

Black Lightning just wrapped up a successful first season on The CW. While not technically a part of the Arrowverse (at least, not yet), the series does dabble in many of the same tropes and draws on the rich history of the DC Universe. And in some critical ways, it improves on the formula established by shows like Arrow and The Flash.

As we look back on Black Lightning: Season 1, here are five lessons the Arrowverse can learn from its success.

One of the most immediate and obvious ways Black Lightning broke the mold is that it opted for a shorter, 13-episode season. Of course, that's because it was a midseason debut, and there's no guarantee that Black Lighting won't shift to a more traditional 22-24 episode structure for Season 2. But that shorter structure brings with it some major advantages.
