Wii Creator to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The creator of the Nintendo Wii Genyo Takeda will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 21st D.I.C.E Awards.

The news was revealed by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, the body responsible for presenting the annual award show.

Takeda has been working at Nintendo for over 45 years and is credited for his hand in the development of the Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii systems.

Takeda is also responsible for creating staple Nintendo franchises such as Punch-Out!! and StarTropics, as well as aiding in the development of their subsequent sequels.
