The Magicians Bosses Explain That Shocking Episode 4 Ending

This interview contains spoilers for The Magicians Season 3, episode 4, "Be the Penny."

Whoever is editing The Magicians deserves a raise. The final shot of this week's episode was an exercise in audience torture, and all credit goes to whoever decided to cut the episode mid-line, total mic drop, on one of the biggest reveals of the season. But let's not get ahead of ourselves: So much happened in "Be the Penny," and it all happened from Penny's (Arjun Gupta) perspective in a rare hour that bucked tradition to focus on the Traveler who was trapped outside of his dead body on the astral plane, without anyone realizing it.

After the most awkward funeral ever – where no one cried and no one could hear Penny shouting, "Appreciate me!" at their inappropriately chill expressions – the episode jumped around from storyline to storyline, all from Penny's POV as he traveled from place to place. All he wanted was for one of his friends to notice him, but they were a bit preoccupied. Eliot (Hale Appleman) was trying to save his wife and daughter from cannibals in the Neitherlands, Julia (Stella Maeve) saved Kady (Jade Tailor) from overdosing, Brakebills was officially closed and sold, and Quentin (Jason Ralph) and Julia were trying to find the second gold key on their quest.

A New Map And Jason Have Been Added to Friday The 13th

Friday The 13th: The Game has had its fair share of tweaks and bugs, but developer IllFonic's latest update should go some way to smoothing things out by giving Jason a much needed - if modest - buff. A new map and a new Jason have also been added.

This week's patch notes cover the new content, that includes Jason Part 5 from the fifth movie, and the Pinehurst map. Jason Part 5 doesn't have any level requirements, and both he and the new map will be available in multiplayer and offline with bots.

Jason Part 5 will also have access to three grab kills: Hedge Trimmer, Last Breath, and You're So Vein. A new grab kill called Rugby Player has been added to the mix too, and you can unlock it at level 108 for 2500 CP.

Today it was announced the game's servers will go offline at the end of July. Until then, all Heroes will be free, as purchases of Rubies and Hero Packs have been disabled. Players will still be awarded in-game currency, and Shop items will be available at discounted prices until the servers go offline.

According to the announcement, over the past few months the teams at Motiga and Perfect World have examined various options to keep servers online, but were unable to find a solution to help the game "break through in a crowded market." As a result, the decision was made to discontinue the game.

Which Wasp Is Which in the Ant-Man Movies?

Marvel Comics fans may already be familiar with the Wasp, but this heroine is finally headlining her own MCU movie thanks to Ant-Man and the Wasp. No longer will Hope Van Dyne play second fiddle to a goofball like Scott Lang!

To help prepare you for this new Marvel movie, we're breaking down everything you need to know about The Wasp's comic book background and the difference between original Wasp Janet Van Dyne and her successor Hope Van Dyne.

Avengers don't come with stronger bona fides than the Wasp. She was one of the five original founding members of the team, and she's been a fairly consistent presence in Earth's Mightiest Heroes ever since. Janet Van Dyne's powers not only make her an asset in the field, but her years of experience also make her a role model to younger generations of heroes. And despite some fairly dark periods in her personal life and even a spell where the world believed her to be dead, Janet has never lost that heroic spark.

Kevin Feige Addresses When X-Men Could Join the MCU

Despite Disney's recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Fantastic Four and X-Men won't be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon, according to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

In an interview with Vulture, Feige explained the deal between Disney and Fox still has to be figured out before any X-Men, Fantastic Four or other Marvel characters from Fox can be added to the MCU.

“There’s been no communication," Feige said. "We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do.”

Rumors, Clues, and Theories to Know About Cloverfield 3

Beyond the previously released plot description for the next Cloverfield project, which was previously known God Particle, there’s not much available about what Cloverfield 3 is. Thankfully, the Cloverfield alternate reality game has picked up again, and that means there's a new trail of breadcrumbs to follow, in addition to plenty of rumblings around the film's actual release.

IGN is diving into what has already been teased about the film, its recent production shifts, and just what exactly that may all mean for the film's plot.

Almost everything about Cloverfield 3 — and whatever it actually may be called — is supposed at this point, with producer Bad Robot remaining relatively tight-lipped about its development and production. (This is no surprise given Bad Robot announced 10 Cloverfield Lane two months before its release.)

Capcom Reports Over 300% Increase in Profit

Things are looking up Capcom this fiscal year, with the company reporting an operating income of 7 billion yen, or $64.5 million.

Games Industry.biz reports that Capcom's operating income has increased by 328.2 percent, due to "strong" performances of titles like Resident Evil 7 and Monster Hunter XX, while Ultra Street Fighter 2 on the Switch was called a "smash hit." Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's sales were described as  "soft" by comparison, with the game only just reaching one million units sold worldwide.

Monster Hunter: World, which shipped 5 million copies in the three days post-launch, will be included in Capcom's full year report in March, but the series' online and mobile titles -  Frontier Z and Explore - have experienced "solid" and "steady" sales.

Why You Should Care About The World Ends With You

In the late '00s, Nintendo’s ridiculously-popular DS handheld was a hotbed for creative, quirky games. Many developers were gleefully experimenting with the system’s trademark dual-screens, and it was in the middle of this zeitgeist that Square-Enix took a chance on a unique action-RPG titled The World Ends With You. Developed by Jupiter (and inspired by their previous Square-Enix title, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories), The World Ends With You was released in 2007 to critical acclaim, strong sales, and quickly became one of the DS’s most beloved games.

And yet 10 years later, it still hasn’t received a sequel. Other than a mobile port and a small cameo in Kingdom Hearts, the series has gone dark, and many fans feared Square may have forgotten it completely. That is, until it resurfaced in the most recent Nintendo Direct, where it was announced the game would be getting another shot on the Nintendo Switch. Titled Final Remix, this new version will contain new content and be the first time the game has appeared on the big screen. Fans were elated not only for ourselves, but also because this will likely be the best way for new players to experience the game.

15 Craziest Comic Book Retcons

Anyone who reads superhero comics long enough becomes familiar with the term "retcon." Basically, a retcon is any case where new stories change the details of old ones and rewrite the history of that universe. We're seeing the latest example of a major comic book retcon in the pages of Avengers right now. Avengers #676 introduced readers to Voyager, a heroine who is supposedly the forgotten sixth member of the original Avengers team.

Whether or not Voyager is who she claims to be, this is just the latest in a long, often complicated history of Marvel and DC adding new details to classic characters and storylines. From Jean Gey's confusing relationship with the Phoenix to Superboy-Prime's punch heard round the multiverse, here are the 15 biggest and craziest examples of comic book retcons.

Vermintide 2 Overhauls Loot System From First Game

Fatshark's sequel to Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide was announced last year and some big gameplay changes are planned for the sequel, including some much-needed improvements to the loot system.

In an interview with PC Gamer, game designer and producer Victor Magnuson said a lot of players felt the loot system in the first game was "too harsh or hard to get good loot." Despite addressing as many of the concerns as they could, ultimately their hands were tied because some elements "were inherent to how the system was built from the start."
