J.K. Rowling Felt ‘Quite Sentimental’ Going Back to Hogwarts in New Teaser Feature

The sequel to the first Fantastic Beasts film will be set among more of the iconic places from the Harry Potter world than were in the first film – including Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To celebrate heading Back to Hogwarts, Warner Bros. has released a behind-the-scenes teaser video with commentary from the stars of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

"I loved going back to Hogwarts. Of course, I did," creator and screenwriter J.K. Rowling said. "It looks very familiar to anyone who saw the Potter movies. But, obviously, the teaching staff are different."

"Those names, the stories, the histories, that sit in the back of our mind from the Potter series begin to weave their way into Beasts," Eddie Redmayne said.

The Top 10 Movies at the Summer 2018 Domestic Box Office

With Labor Day upon us and summer coming to a close, let's look back at how Hollywood fared at the North American box office this past season. Disney had four of the Top 10 movies released at the domestic box office this summer, with Avengers: Infinity War leading the pack with $678.7 million.

It's been a matter of debate, however, whether Infinity War even counts as a summer movie since Disney bumped its release from May 4th to April 27th. In the past, a film released on the last weekend in April was a spring release, but Hollywood continues to blur the lines between actual seasons and "movie" seasons. If we were being strict about the actual definition of "summer" then only movies released between June 21 and September 22, 2018, would count as summer movies. But Hollywood doesn't do that. And since IGN included Infinity War in its summer movie preview, we're going to keep it defined as one for the purposes of this box office wrap-up.

One of Dota’s Weirdest Heroes Is Becoming One of Artifacts Craziest Cards

Not all existing Dota 2 heroes are guaranteed to make it into Valve’s next game, Artifact, but this crafty Geomancer, Meepo, is confirmed to get a card counterpart, and IGN has the first details on his cards.

In Artifact, almost every known hero card has either a passive or active ability and a signature spell card. Meepo is unique in that his card has both an active and a passive. His active ability, Poof, allows Meepo to move to an allied Meepos lane and deal 2 damage to his new enemy neighbors. His passive or “continuous effect” ability, United We Fall, requires that if Meepo dies, allied Meepos in other lanes die too.

Like in Dota 2, Meepo’s signature spell allows him to summon another Meepo. You can see the spell card and the art for other Meepo in the slideshow below. Each hero comes with three copies of their signature spell card, so there’s potential to have four Meepos across the board at once.

How Valve Won’t Let Artifact’s Marketplace Get Crazy Expensive

Artifact, the next game from Half-Life developer Valve, is decidedly bucking digital card game trends. Not only is it not free-to-play, it’s not going to have any kind of free in-game currency to spend on cards -- a decision Valve tells me is to avoid the grind that can make other CCGs feel like a job instead of a game.

“At its core, we want you to play the game because you enjoy playing the game,” programmer Brandon Reinhart told me when I visited Valve last week. They don’t want you to feel obligated to do daily quests just so you have enough gold to get a pack that might have the card you want. They want you to just play the game.

So instead of the usual digital model, Artifact is following a physical one like that of Magic: The Gathering -- whose creator, Richard Garfield, is also the lead designer of Artifact. It will have a $20 price tag that gets you two full decks and 10 card packs, and all card packs after that cost $2 each.

Valve Is 'Very Aware of All the Jokes' People Make

It’s hard to go long on the internet without running into a ‘Half-Life 3 confirmed’ joke, the eternal meme as we collectively wait for the third installment of Valve’s legendary FPS series to materialize. And speaking to the development team of Valve’s next game, Artifact, at their office in Seattle last week, Valve clearly hasn’t missed those jokes either.

“I think we're very aware of all the jokes because all of us lurk all the forums and share them around with each other,” says Jeep Barnett, a programmer on Artifact and a member of the original team that made Narbacular Drop, who were all hired to create Portal as a result.

Why Torchlight Frontiers Is My Most Anticipated ARPG Since Diablo 2

Immediately upon playing Torchlight Frontiers, I was presented with a choice between the two currently playable classes: the Dusk Mage and Forged. The former is a powerful magic user charged with wielding both the immense powers of dark and light in perpetual harmony. The latter is a robot. I chose the robot.

I felt an immediate sense of adoration for my sputtering little steampunk monstrosity, who looked inescapably like Maurice's cast iron furnace contraption from Beauty and the Beast. As Echtra Games CEO Max Schaefer explained, my little automaton wouldn't simply equip gear but would instead integrate it into his body. If I equipped a rare pair of leggings, for example, they might change my four spider-like robot-legs into two sturdy tank treads.

Survivor of Jacksonville Shooting Sues EA and Venue

One of the survivors of the Jacksonville shooting has officially filed a lawsuit against EA, the venue the tournament took place, and six other potentially liable parties.

The survivor, Jacob Mitich, competed in the tournament and sustained injuries after being shot twice. The lawsuit in question (via The Hollywood Reporter) claims the various parties are liable due to negligence in not providing sufficient security measures, and for hosting the tournament at an unsuitable venue in the first place.

The lawsuit points at The Landing marketplace, which houses the GLHF Game Bar where the shooting took place. It states: “Once a thriving and popular shopping, dining and tourist destination, The Landing has become a hub of dangerous, violent and too often, deadly activity.” It further points to recent violence in the area, including a hit-and-run murder, a stabbing and a double shooting, ultimately questioning EA’s decision in holding the event in this location.

Netflix's Sabrina Series Will Pay Homage to The Exorcist

Netflix's upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series will pay homage to horror classic The Exorcist.

Per EW, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed each episode will serve as its own mini-movie, with one being heavily inspired by The Exorcist.

“Sabrina is the heroine in this series of mini-movies," Aguirre-Sacasa said. “I love The Exorcist. It’s one of my favorite movies. We’re doing an homage to that; we’re doing an episode that’s like

.”

Aguirre-Sacasa did not provide further details about this particular episode, but it seems fans can expect plenty of horror elements from this new Sabrina series, as it'll be a darker take on the property.

Rick and Morty's Soundtrack is the Best Looking in Any Universe

Rick and Morty's soundtrack is pretty much the most awesome thing in any universe already, so it stands to reason that the packaging for the long-awaited vinyl release is every bit as epic as our heroes deserve.

IGN can exclusively reveal the covers for the deluxe vinyl and standard LP release of the Rick and Morty soundtrack. The standard LP, CD and digital version of the soundtrack will debut on September 28, with the special deluxe edition dropping on November 23.

While the standard LP is pretty rad (it's described as a "Loser Edition 2xLP pressed on Blue & Green-colored vinyl featuring two single-pocket LP jackets housed together in a custom die-cut slipcase"), the deluxe version "includes the album on double-LP pressed on an exclusive 'Portal' colored vinyl along with a custom poster, a patch, a sticker, and a bonus 7” single (featuring an extended mix of the screaming sun from the 2nd season finale, pressed on clear vinyl). All of this comes housed in an attractive, borderline extravagant box featuring a plexiglass window cover which reveals a glowing design when lit by its integrated LED lights."

Best Action Movies on Netflix Right Now (September 2018)

Are you planning a trip to Wakanda this weekend? Is The Bride waiting for you in Tokyo? Do you have plans with Johnny Cage, or is it Nicolas Cage? Well, either way there are a lot of good action movies to choose from on Netflix...

Everyone loves a good action movie, but we don't all agree about what makes a "good" action movie. Some of us want carefully crafted cinema, full of smart plotting and rich characters. Some of us just want big explosions, dumb storylines, and a brainless good time. Fortunately, Netflix's offerings currently run that whole gamut, with blockbusters, fight films, animated adventures and shootouts galore... if you know where to look for them. And that's where we come in with our monthly updates on the best new movies on Netflix.

How Deep Space Nine Changed Star Trek for the Better

When Star Trek: Deep Space Nine first aired a quarter of a century ago this year, it immediately earned the mantle of being the “odd one out” when it came to Star Trek shows. It’s easy to understand why: It was the first Trek not created by Gene Roddenberry, nor did it follow the voyages of the Starship Enterprise which the previous two iterations had. Indeed, it bucked the whole basic Trek premise of “boldly going where no one has gone before” in that it was set on a space station rather than a starship. No one would have been surprised if Deep Space Nine had failed.

And while it’s true that it never reached the ratings highs of The Next Generation, DS9 proved popular amongst fans and critics alike, with numerous pundits citing it as the best Star Trek series outright. It’s fair to say that Deep Space Nine has aged very well compared to some of the other Trek offerings, largely because the themes it explored, and its method of storytelling, were both ahead of its time. As good as The Next Generation became, and as ground-breaking as The Original Series was, for many fans Deep Space Nine is the pinnacle of Trek storytelling. Here’s why.

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw Revealed

Developer Double Damage has revealed Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, the follow-up (or rather, a "sort-of prequel," as the developers put it) to its acclaimed 2015 space combat game. The studio calls Outlaw "a blue-collar space combat adventure packed with outlaws, explosions, gleefully unrealistic spaceflight, and a hell of a soundtrack."

In Outlaw, you play Juno Markev, 34 years before the events of Rebel Galaxy. Markev left her life of crime behind until she got pulled back into the outlaw life.

ABOVE: Watch the awesome animated reveal trailer for Rebel Galaxy Outlaw.

Aiming for release in Q1 2019 on PC, PS4, and Switch, "Rebel Galaxy Outlaw features high-octane space combat, over 20 hours of subspace radio, side activities like billiards and dice poker, plenty of sketchy characters to meet, and sketchy jobs to take on. Nobody’s saving the universe around here - they’d settle for saving a couple of credits." Double Damage co-founder Travis Baldree said, "“We took what worked from the last title, and then went a little crazy. It’s got a stronger focus on story and place, a huge jump in detail, and while it still works great for folks with a HOTAS at home, I think we’ve managed to make space combat accessible and fun for everybody else in a way that nobody has managed before. We’ve got a lot more to share in the months ahead.”

No Man's Sky Launches Its First Community Event

Hello Games has announced the first in a series of No Man's Sky community events, which will centre around returning character Specialist Polo's discovery of "another iteration of the universe" and task players with helping them learn more about this "glitch in reality".

The news was announced in a blog post, with studio boss Sean Murray clarifying that the community events will be open to all explorers who have completed the first Space Anomaly mission, with Specialist Polo contacting these players directly to ask for assistance.

This week's event has been referred to as "the first chapter" of an ongoing research project and tasks players with visiting "a specific corner of the galaxy" (although no details of where that is are given in the post) to excavate and return a selection of "strange objects" which have begun spawning underground. Returning these objects will reward players with Quicksilver, a valuable resource that can be used to create a variety of exclusive exotic collectables.

But in the 50 years since the film’s release, fans have often wondered how much of Serling’s work remained in the final product. Now, thanks to BOOM! Studios’ Planet of the Apes: Visionaries graphic novel, we have a pretty good idea.
