The Killer: Lupita Nyong'o to Star in Gender-Swapped Remake

Black Panther's Lupita Nyong'o is reportedly set to star in the remake to John Woo's The Killer.

Per THR, Nyong'o is in talks with Universal for the lead role in what would be a gender-swapped remake. Woo will helm the project and produce alongside Mark Gordon (Source Code) and Matt Jackson. Luc Etienne is executive producing. A release date has not been set yet.

The remake follows an assassin (Nyong'o's potential role) who is sworn to protect a young woman she accidentally blinded years prior during a mob hit. The original film came out in 1989 and stars Chow Yun-Fat as the assassin Ah Jong. The landmark action thriller helped introduce Woo to Western audiences.

This Is How Much Avengers: Infinity War Cost to Make

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War may be the biggest visual spectacle of the year, so it's no surprise that it cost Disney quite a few pennies to bring this epic vision to life.

According to Forbes, Infinity War cost $321.2 million to make, which does not include all of the marketing and other promotional costs that can easily add millions more to the overall budget. Surprisingly, Infinity War is not the most expensive Marvel film, as you can see from the list below of Marvel movies made in the UK:

Infinity War: What Is Doctor Strange's Master Plan?

Warning: Full SPOILERS for Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War follow...

If you've seen Infinity War and are currently reeling from the catastrophic ending that saw half the life in the universe wiped out - including a formidable chunk of MCU heroes turned to ash and others simply struck dead - then you most certainly have a ton of questions swirling around in your head.

You may have even picked a particular hero to blame, though it's clear that there's really no single person at fault as most everyone in the movie made very emotional choices - some to save loved ones, others to try and gain a tactical advantage - that in hindsight were big mistakes. Tony chose to go to Titan, Thor didn't aim for the head, the Wakanda faction tried to remove the Mind Stone instead of letting Vision sacrifice himself, Star-Lord let his emotions sabotage his own plan - it was a parade of very human missteps.

Marvel Already Planning 2025 MCU Movies

It doesn't seem like the MCU will be slowing down anytime soon, as Marvel Studios already has projects planned for the next several years.

In an interview with the AP, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed he just had meetings about movies that are presumably coming out in 2024 and 2025. Though Feige did not share further details about those films and what they might be, he did tease there are still quite a few surprises in store for the MCU.

"We’re always thinking ahead," Feige said. "Just when people think they can pin us down, we go somewhere else and that’s going to happen again after Infinity War in the build-up to the next Avengers film. And we had meetings earlier today about 2024 and 2025."

Nintendo to Working on New Redesign of Joy-Con for Switch

Not long after the release of the Nintendo Switch last year, many users began noticing connection issues with the left Joy-Con controller. As found in a new filing with the Federal Communications Commission, it appears as though Nintendo is finally addressing the issue by releasing an entirely new iteration of the Joy-Con controller.

Nintendo has been working on a fix for the Joy-Con for some time now, with a variety of software fixes through numerous firmware updates. However, the issue itself mainly concerns the placement of the antenna housed inside of the left Joy-Con controller. That said, there's only so much that software updates can do to help. So an internal redesign of the Joy-Con appears to be Nintendo's best bet for an actual fix.

YouTube Admits It Can't Compete with Netflix

The global head of original content for YouTube has said the company can't compete with Netflix in terms of original programming.

"I don’t think you can compete with Netflix at this point; they're too far ahead," Susanne Daniels, head of YouTube Originals, told IndieWire. " But I do think, in time, we can compete with Hulu and Amazon and certainly Apple, and hopefully, you’ll see us do that.”

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has made it clear the company doesn't intend to match Netflix's annual $8 billion investment in programming, IndieWire reports. YouTube Red is currently drumming up interest in Cobra Kai, YouTube's Karate Kid sequel series starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, who will reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence.

Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery Players Upset With Use of Microtransactions

The Harry Potter mobile RPG launched last week, but its gameplay mechanics and microtransactions have prompted a backlash.  Some players are criticizing the developers for microtransaction tactics that younger players might be particularly susceptible to.

Central to Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the energy system, which is built up through performing tasks, and is used up in challenges. Energy can recharge if players wait, and waiting will also move the story along if they don't want to spend money on microtransactions to expedite the process. The problem is that waiting times are perceived to be too long, and events are seemingly rigged by design to have players spend money in-game.

Queen and Country, based on the Oni Press comic book from writer Greg Rucka, follows a British spy named Tara Chace who's an operative of "the Minders," a Special Operations Section of SIS (Mi6). She takes on dangerous missions while also dealing with bureaucracy and politics.

The Witcher 3 HDR Patch Hurts Quality on PS4 Pro

The Witcher 3's HDR patch isn't working out quite as well as planned on the PlayStation 4 Pro, and has brought some visual downgrades with it.

The patch rolled out last month but Digital Foundry has discovered that update 1.61 has had some adverse effects when playing in 4K on the PS4 Pro.

It seems that the patch has affected draw distance and shadows of foliage, and the issues are present in SDR on the PS4 Pro as well, suggesting that the result is unintentional. The problem isn't echoed on the Xbox One X according to Digital Foundry, so hopefully CD Projekt RED will release a fix in the near future.

The Switch is a sales monster, even managing to surpass early sales of the Wii.
