Halo Wars 2: No Competitive Multiplayer Ranking at Launch

The recently-launched Halo Wars 2 does not yet feature a competitive multiplayer ranking system.

As per Eurogamer, developer 343 Industries and Creative Assembly made the decision to withhold competitive ranking so the teams could fine-tune the game’s balance post-launch.

While matchmaking is indeed based on player skill, individual skill is not explicitly shown at this point in time. Instead, Halo Wars 2 only displays the user’s Spartan Rank – an XP progression system.

Speaking to Eurogamer, David Nicholson, executive producer at Creative Assembly, offered the following explanation:
