There’s an unforgettable scene in Tobe Hooper’s horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre where Sally, the final victim of the murderous Sawyer family, is bound to a chair and forced to break bread with her captors. The family bicker and tease one another in a chilling perversion of a Norman Rockwell painting, before chainsaw-wielding igor Leatherface arrives in full matriarchal costume to complete the picture.

It’s a scene echoed near beat for beat in Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which also takes place in the Deep South. Marguerite, Jack and Lucas Baker are this generation’s Sawyers, willing you to take part in their twisted practices, to sit at the dinner table and eat the decaying remains of their victims while they literally rot beside you.

Nintendo Sells 1.5 Million NES Classics Worldwide

Nintendo has sold a lot of NES Classic Edition consoles.

The company announced it had sold 1.5 million NES Classics worldwide at its corporate strategy meeting today. The information was translated by Wall Street Journal technology reporter Takashi Mochizuki, who said "NES Classic Edition global sell-through 1.5 million; increasing production."

The Nintendo Classic Edition was notoriously difficult to get a hold of when it launched in November, with the Nintendo of America Twitter account tweeting that the company it was "working hard to keep up with consumer demand." Many retro fans were unsurprisingly frustrated at the time.

The 100: How Do You Deal With the World Ending... Again?

The 100 returns for Season 4 Wednesday night, but suffice to say, things aren’t getting any easier for the characters.

On a visit to the Vancouver set of the series this past fall, I watched a particularly intense scene being shot. Because this scene takes place quite a few episodes into the season, I unfortunately can’t give any details except to say it took place on a new and impressive set that will be introduced this year and involved a rather large assemblage of characters from both the main and recurring cast… all witnessing something very bad happening to someone right in front of them.

Season 3 ended with Clarke (Eliza Taylor) being told the end of the world was coming, thanks to all of the Earth’s remaining nuclear power plants melting down. Speaking to some of the cast on the familiar Arkadia sets during their breaks from filming that day, I learned more about what to expect as the show returns and Clarke and the others have to process this monumental news.

Wii U Production Ends Globally

Nintendo has confirmed that it is no longer manufacturing Wii U consoles.

In a statement to IGN, a Nintendo representative confirmed that “Wii U production has ended globally.”

Previously, Nintendo confirmed that Wii U production would be ending soon, but didn’t provide an exact timeframe. Yesterday, Nintendo updated Wii U sales figures alongside its latest financial report, confirming that just over 13.5 million consoles were sold as of December 31, 2016.

Super Mario Run Update Adds Easy Mode

Nintendo has released a new update for Super Mario Run on iOS.

As Nintendo confirmed on Twitter, the update adds a new Easy Mode that will provide players with unlimited Bubbles and eliminate the time limit.

The update also changes Toad Rally mode, making it easier to gather Toads and harder to lose them. Nintendo also added “compatibility with new events,” a Korean language option, and unlimited redemptions for Toad as a playable character when connecting your My Nintendo account.

Nicole Kidman Up for Role of Aquaman's Mom

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman has reportedly been offered the role of the titular superhero's mother in the Aquaman movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kidman "has been Wan's top choice for weeks, with an official offer finally going out on Monday."

In the DC Comics, Aquaman's mom Atlanna was a member of the Atlantean royal family who fell in love with lighthouse keeper Tom Curry and gave birth to their half-human, half-Atlantean son, Arthur Curry.

EA Confirms New Need for Speed Will Debut in Next Fiscal Year

A new Need for Speed is currently in development and is set to be launched during EA's fiscal year 2018, the publisher has revealed.

EA CEO Andrew Wilson revealed during its quarterly earnings call that the team behind the upcoming Need for Speed game "is pushing the boundaries of action driving."

"We’ve given this game an extended development cycle to focus on innovation, and the Need for Speed team is pushing the boundaries of action driving with what we believe is the most exciting and best-looking Need for Speed game we’ve ever produced," Wilson said during the fiscal year 2017 third quarter call.

Wilson said the title will launch in the company's 2018 fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2017 and ends on March 31, 2018.

New Photos from Snatch TV Series

Crackle has released a new trailer and a few photos for its upcoming Snatch TV series.

Both the images and trailer provide a decent look at some of the major characters in the series, including Ruper Grint (Harry Potter film franchise) as Charlie Cavendish, Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) as Sonny Castillo, and Luke Pasqualino (Snowpiercer) as Albert Hill.

This TV series is loosely based on director Guy Ritchie's 2000 film of the same name. The story, inspired by an actual heist, follows a group of up and coming hustlers who enter the world of organized crime when they accidentally find a truck load of stolen gold bullion. As a result, the group have to watch out for international mobsters and rogue cops while learning how to navigate London's seedy underworld.

La La Land Songwriters Contributing to The Flash/Supergirl Musical Ep

La La Land songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul have written a song called "Runnin' Home to You" for the upcoming Flash/Supergirl musical episode.

The pair aren't the only notable contributers - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and executive producer Rachel Bloom has joined Robot Chicken's Tom Root to write a song called "Superfriends", which will also be featured in the episode.

Pasek and Paul are currently up for Academy Awards for their songs City of Stars and Audition (The Fools Who Dream), both from La La Land.

The musical episode will take place on The Flash, and is called "Duet." Musical performances are expected from stars Grant Gustin, Melissa Benoist, Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber, Carlos Valdes, Jeremy Jordan, and John Barrowman, and non-singing guest star appearances from Supergirl’s David Harewood and Chris Wood.

Bates Motel: Season 5 Trailer Shows the Psycho Story Begin

A&E has released a new trailer for Bates Motel's fifth and final season, giving viewers the first look at Rihanna as Marion Crane.

The trailer gives us a look inside Norman's (Freddie Highmore) ever-devolving psyche, culminating in the introduction of Rihanna's Marion Crane and two memorable Psycho scenes: Crane's arrival at the motel and Norman looking at Marion through a peephole in the wall.

Several of the series' key characters also make appearances in the trailer, including Norma (Vera Farmiga), Dylan (Max Thieriot), Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), and Caleb (Kenny Johnson).

EA Puts the Brakes on Skate 4 Rumors

EA has confirmed there's no Skate 4. At least, not yet.

On January 28, EA community manager Daniel Lingen got the hype machine primed and ready when he tweeted out "#skate4." During the question and answer period EA's quarterly investors call, it flat-out said it's "not presently making Skate 4."

That doesn't mean there's no future for the Skate franchise, but it just means we may be waiting quite a while before we're flicking sticks and landing tricks again.

Skate 3 came out way back in 2010. The good news, at least for Xbox One owners, is that Skate 3 is backwards compatible on Xbox One, so you don't need to pull out your last gen system to play it.

BioWare Bringing Out New IP Before March 2018

BioWare is making a brand new game that we'll be able to play surprisingly soon.

The news was announced at EA's investor meeting today by CEO Andrew Wilson, who described it as an action adventure title set in a "unique new universe."

"At the end of the fiscal year, our BioWare studio will be delivering an all-new IP," said Wilson. "A clean-sheet design with new concepts, new gameplay mechanics, and new stories set in a unique new universe. This game has the potential to fundamentally disrupt the way people think about an action title, bringing friends together to play in exhilarating new ways. We’re very excited about the future of this new franchise and its ability to attract a large global audience."

Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Take Place Across Multiple Eras

During its third-quarter earnings call with investors, EA gave more details on the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront sequel.

The follow-up is due to release holiday 2017, with EA mentioning the addition of a single player campaign to the sequel. It also said the new Battlefront game has "more heroes and characters" than the original game, and takes place not only in multiple locations, but also across multiple eras within the Star Wars universe.

EA first officially confirmed the sequel to Star Wars Battlefront back in May 2016, and at E3 we learned EA Motive was working on the game. EA has Motive, DICE, and Criterion bringing "their areas of expertise" to the game.

HBO Plans Movie on the Making of The Godfather

A scripted behind-the-scenes movie of the making of The Godfather is in the works.

Variety reports that HBO Films is working on the project, titled Francis & The Godfather, that will delve into the making of director Francis Ford Coppola's acclaimed crime drama. The film will touch on Coppola first joining as director, to him casting Al Pacino and Marlon Brando and dealing with the real-life New York mafia at the time.

Screenwriter Andrew Farotte will be revising his original screenplay for the film, which appeared on the Black List in 2015. Peter Bart, who first optioned author Mario Puzo's book of the same name and worked closely with Coppola when he was a Paramount executive, will act as a consultant.

Aquaman Movie Casts Its Black Manta

The Aquaman movie has reportedly found its Black Manta.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Netflix's The Get Down) is "in early talks" to play the DC Comics supervillain in director James Wan's movie. "The official offer went out yesterday and the parties are now in talks," the site claims.

Variety reports Abdul-Mateen "beat out a short list of actors that included Moonlight breakout Trevante Rhodes and 24: Legacy star Corey Hawkins."

Two New Xbox One Controllers Unveiled

Microsoft is adding two new pads to the Xbox One controller lineup.

On the Xbox Wire, the company unveiled the special edition controllers called Ocean Shadow and Winter Forces. The former has a matte black top that fades into a light blue metallic, while the latter has an arctic camouflage pattern.

The wireless controllers will also work with Windows 10 devices and Samsung Gear VR through Bluetooth.

The two pads will join the recently released Xbox One red matte controller. And obviously everyone can customize their own controller with Xbox Design Lab.

Rainbow Six Siege Getting a Free Weekend

Ubisoft is letting people try out Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege this weekend for free.

From February 2 to 5, everyone can play the competitive shooter. The Rainbow Six Siege free trial will offer all of the maps, modes and operators available in the full version of the game.

In addition, Ubisoft is promising that all progress will carry over to the main game from the free weekend. Rainbow Six Siege is currently on Year 2 of DLC content.

The shooter has also seen rising numbers of players over the past year.

The LotR Cast Is Still a Fellowship 15 Years Later

The Fellowship of the Ring didn't last long, but the friendships from the Lord of the Rings trilogy have endured for 15 years now.

Merry actor Dominic Monaghan posted photos on Instagram of himself getting together with cast members for a bite. The Lord of the Rings reunion included Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), Elijah Wood (Frodo), Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Billy Boyd (Pippin).

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring debuted 15 years ago last month. So they have carried on their friendship for longer than Frodo carried the ring to Mordor.

Bane's Return to Gotham City Will Feature 'The Greatest Battle in the History of Batman'

Bane is returning to Gotham City in the next Batman story arc, fittingly titled "I Am Bane." When he arrives, adorned in his classic costume with veins full of the Venom super-steroid, he will aim to take vengeance on Batman (natch).

What did Batman do this time? He formed his own personal Suicide Squad to break into Bane's fortress on Santa Prisca, all in a play to kidnap the Psycho Pirate, who has the power to help the mentally fractured Gotham Girl. It turns out that Venom is highly addictive and not having it in his system leaves Bane in constant agony, but the Psycho Pirate's power allows him to feel at peace. He wants to get the Pirate back and make Batman pay.

We hopped on the phone with Batman writer Tom King and artist David Finch to talk about what they've got planned, starting with tomorrow's Batman #16. While a big battle with Bane will most certainly come, this issue is a surprisingly light-heated one, at least in part, thanks to the Bat-family meeting in a Batman-themed fast-food restaurant instead of the Batcave.

A Star Wars Story We Want: The Ancient Jedi

The Star Wars Expanded Universe may be gone, but some of the saga's grand history involving the ancient Jedi could still be made into amazing standalone movies. A Star Wars Story like Knights of the Old Republic or Dawn of the Jedi, for example, could thrill mainstream crowds and old-school fanboys alike.

Many fans were not happy when Disney declared the EU to no longer be canon (retitling it Legends in the process). But what if the Legends could return? Star Wars Rebels has already introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn into the new timeline, and if the rumors are true that Woody Harrelson is playing Garris Shrike in the Han Solo movie, then Thrawn won’t be the only EU character to be making a comeback. More intriguingly, a recent episode of Star Wars Rebels alluded to a war in the past between the Jedi and Mandalore. Star Wars fans may recall that the Mandalorian Wars were a critical part of the backstory for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, which is also one of the all-time great Star Wars video games. If aspects of KOTOR are still canon, then there could be ripe material from that era for a future Star Wars anthology film to explore. And it’s not the only piece of ancient Star Wars history that deserves to be fleshed out on the big screen…

Crunchyroll Bringing Anime Films and Episodes to Theaters

Crunchyroll will roll out Anime Movie Night this April, bringing films and TV series to the silver screen.

The special anime event will happen each quarter for the rest of the year. Anime Movie Night will feature films from Japan or even episodes from a show, though no titles were specified.

"As demand for anime continues to grow in the U.S. and around the world, it's a thrill to have the opportunity to bring the latest hits, as well as the anime that fans know and love, into theaters — often for the very first time," said Crunchyroll general manager Kun Gao in a statement.

Screenvision Media and KAOS Connect are teaming up with Crunchyroll for Anime Movie Night. The event will include behind-the-scenes content and industry interviews.

For Honor Open Beta Coming Next Week

For Honor will be holding an open beta for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 starting on February 9 and ending on February 12, Ubisoft has announced.

The beta will include the Duel, Brawl, Dominion, and a new 'Elimination' mode that was not playable during last week's closed beta. Elimination is described as a "best-of-five series of four-on-four matches with no respawns," according to Ubisoft.

The beta will also continue the War of the Factions meta game, which lets players pick from the Knight, Samurai, or Viking factions to control territories. The winning faction will claim the best rewards once the full game launches.

GTA Online Xbox 360, PS3 Transfers End in March

The ability to transfer your characters and progress from the last-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto Online will cease on March 6, 2017.

In a post on its official website, Rockstar Games announced that those who still wish to move their GTA Online content from PS3 or Xbox 360 to PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC will need to do so before that date.

The current-gen versions of GTA Online boast a number of enhancements over their PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. In addition to improved visuals, the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions feature loads of additional content that has been added through free updates.

The Flash Previews: Iris Wants to Team with Wally

A bounty hunter with "Vibe" powers -- DC Comics' Gypsy -- disrupts Barry and his team this week on The Flash episode, "Dead or Alive," airing Tuesday, January 31st on the CW.

On top of that, Iris, feeling a little invincible ("I don't die until May"), starts investigating dangerous arms dealer case, wanting to team up with her brother Wally to take down some bad guys.

In this exclusive scene from the episode, Wally warns Iris about getting too close to the case while Iris brings up the fact that, in Flashpoint, she and Wally were a crime-busting bro/sis duo. Check it out!

The official synopsis for "Dead or Alive" reads:

H.R.’s (Tom Cavanagh) past catches up with him when a bounty hunter with vibe powers named Gypsy (guest star Jessica Camacho) arrives in Central City to bring him back to Earth-19 to stand trial for his crime. Mad Max: Fury Road's George Miller nearly directed a Justice League movie ten years ago. The film was cast and well into pre-production when Warner Bros. pulled the plug. Its cast included actor-recording artist Common as the Green Lantern, John Stewart.

While Miller's Justice League ultimately didn't pan out and Warners ended up making a Green Lantern movie featuring Hal Jordan instead, the studio is now developing a Green Lantern Corps movie, which will reportedly feature both Jordan and Stewart as co-leads.

IGN chatted with Common this past weekend for his new movie, John Wick: Chapter 2, during which time we asked him whether he'd still like a crack at playing John Stewart should the opportunity come back around. Watch what he had to say in the video below:

CBS has a released a new behind the scene video announcing the start of production for Star Trek: Discovery.

The video gives viewers a glimpse at some of the new sets, the Starship Discovery, costumes, and more:

Discovery was originally supposed to premiere in February but was delayed to May. It was recently pushed back yet again with no new release date announced. Reportedly, one of the reasons for the third delay was concern over promoting the series' new star Sonequa Martin-Green in May right when her show The Walking Dead will be finishing its current season.

Every Marvel Game Currently in Development

Konami Reports Rise in Profits, Decline in Revenue

Despite an overall drop in revenue, Konami has reported a year-over-year increase in profits.

According to the publisher's financial results, its "consolidated total revenue and operating profit" for the nine-month span concluding on December 31, 2016 were ¥163.94 billion (approx. $1.45 billion USD) and ¥29.59 billion (approx. $262 million), respectively. When compared to the year prior, the company's revenue is down 8.5 percent, while profits are up 69.8 percent.

Konami specifically cited the success of its recently released mobile games Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links and Jikkyou Powerful Soccer, "both of which enjoy a strong start with an unprecedented number of downloads at a faster-than-ever pace."

Final Fantasy XV Getting Power Rangers-style Costumes

Final Fantasy XV's first piece of character-focused DLC, dubbed Episode Gladio, will release on March 28. There's also something a little more... unexpected on the way.

Square Enix shared news on the first character episode DLC - as well as three screenshots (below) - during its Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebration event, Dualshockers reports.

The publisher also announced that prior to the release of the Gladio DLC, Final Fantasy XV players will be able to outfit their heroes in Power Rangers-style Magitek Exosuits on February 21. The Exosuits will be available as part of an upcoming free "Booster Pack" and a paid "Booster Pack +." The free version is available to all who own FFXV, while the plus option is exclusive to those with a Season Pass.

On Legends of Tomorrow recently, Mick Rory/Heatwave (Dominic Purcell) has been seeing visions of his deceased friend Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) appearing and speaking to him. What stands out here though is that last summer, when it was announced Legends would be introducing the Legion of Doom (including Malcolm Merlyn, Reverse-Flash and Damien Darhk), Captain Cold was included on the list of members. However, so far, the Legion of Doom has been operating without Snart, while his appearances have only been in relation to Rory.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Key Art Revealed

The official key art for Final Fantasy VII Remake has been revealed.

As reported by Gematsu, Square Enix debuted the new image during the opening ceremony at its Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebration. No further details about the game were revealed during the event.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy VII, which released for PlayStation in 1997. Final Fantasy XII Remaster Gets a Release Date

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, the remaster of 2006's PlayStation 2 game, is due for release on July 11 on PS4.

The announcement came during the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Opening Ceremony event in Tokyo. July 11 is the date for North America and Europe, while Japan will have to wait an extra couple of days until July 13.

The world of Ivalice in Final Fantasy XII will feature upgraded graphics, and western players will be able to finally use the Zodiac Job System, a 12-job character progression system which was only included in the original release in Japan.

Other upgrades include a remastered soundtrack, the addition of 7.1 surround sound, auto-saving, faster loading times, and a Trial Mode, which sounds like you'll be taking on all types of monsters in successive battles.

Nintendo Financials: Pokemon Helps Massive Profit Increase

Pokémon played a big role in Nintendo’s end of year profits, the company’s financial reports show.

According to Nintendo, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon have shifted a combined 14.6 million units since their launches last year, placing the titles ahead of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Super Mario 3D Land, and Super Smash Bros. 3DS in terms of lifetime sales.

Nintendo Financials Reveal Strong 3DS Sales but Flagging Wii Consoles

Nintendo has released the company's latest financial report.

On the amiibo front, 6.5 million amiibo figures and 6.6 million amiibo cards were sold during the nine-month period between April 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. For comparison, during the period ending December 31, 2015, Nintendo shifted some 20.5 million amiibo figures and 21.5 million amiibo cards.

According to Nintendo, the reason for the sharp decline in amiibo sales is due to the lack of amiibo-supported software for the period.

"Although the release of some new titles offering amiibo functionality restored some momentum, amiibo sales remained limited to 6.5 million units for figure-type and 6.6 million units for card-type,” writes Nintendo. “In addition, there were relatively fewer offerings of downloadable content during this period, so digital sales were also down to a large extent on the same period last year."

Nintendo Delays Animal Crossing Mobile Release Date

Nintendo's fourth smartphone game, Animal Crossing, has been delayed until the next financial year. A new release date window has been pencilled in for some time between April 2017 and March 2018.

Originally due to launch last year, this marks the second delay for Animal Crossing's mobile entry after it was put on ice and scheduled to release before the end of next month.

Instead, the free-to-play game has been pushed back once more so that Nintendo can focus on the Android launch of Super Mario Run in March, as well as the release of Fire Emblem Heroes on 2 February.

Fire Emblem Heroes Isn’t a Mobile Knock-Off

Fire Emblem Heroes feels like the ultimate crossover comic book for a Nintendo universe full of heroes and villains. And it could not have come at a better time for the long-running, turn-based strategy series. After years of niche status, Fire Emblem is in the middle of a renaissance since 2013’s successful FE Awakening on Nintendo 3DS. The new free-to-play mobile game appears to be a faithful experience, but one that uses random selection mechanics, called Gacha, as motivation for players to build an unstoppable FE dream team.

The mobile debut of Fire Emblem uses the same tried-and-true battle language of the series, but it makes a few changes too. Hardcore fans will recognize the familiar weapon triangle, a series mainstay that uses a rock, paper, scissors system to determine which weapons dominate in an engagement (sword are strong against axes, axes beat spears, and spears get a damage boost versus swords). It's an elegant system that can always be found at the lower right of the screen. Every skirmish takes place on a single screen map, so you can position your troops and attack using a single hand while you’re riding the bus or train. The smaller battlefields appear much simpler at first than the larger ones we’ve seen on the 3DS, but they feel engineered for quicker turn-based matches on the go.

UFC star Conor McGregor might not appear in Game of Thrones after all.

Despite recent rumors suggesting McGregor will reportedly have some sort of a cameo role in one of the two remaining seasons of the HBO show, the current UFC lightweight champion denied the rumors in an interview with the Good Times Network (via Entertainment Weekly). Official: Ben Affleck Will No Longer Direct The Batman

Ben Affleck will no longer be directing The Batman for Warner Bros.

Variety has confirmed that Affleck will stay on board the project as star and producer, but that he and the studio came to a mutual decision that he would step down as director.

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” said Affleck in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. Daddy's Home 2 may star both Mel Gibson and John Lithgow.

Why Wedge Wasn't Included in Rogue One

There are specific reasons why Wedge Antilles, the beloved starfighter pilot for the Rebel Alliance in the original Star Wars trilogy, wasn't included in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Despite both Red and Gold Leader making a surprise appearance in the film during the Battle of Scarif, Wedge was nowhere to be seen. Lucasfilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo explained on Twitter that Wedge wouldn't actually be there in the battle, as the starfighter pilot had never seen the Death Star before A New Hope. Wedge famously says "Look at the size of that thing!" when he first sees the Death Star in Episode IV, and that was the line Hidalgo and Lucasfilm were trying to preserve.

Peter Capaldi Is Leaving Doctor Who

Peter Capaldi and the BBC have confirmed that the actor is leaving Doctor Who.

The news comes via the official Doctor Who Twitter feed, which relayed Capaldi's reveal from an interview on BBC Radio.

“It

will be my last… I feel it’s time to move on," the man who plays the Twelfth Doctor confirmed.

The star of the long-running sci-fi series added while he'll step down in Christmas of 2017, "I’m still Doctor Who! We’re doing epic stuff! I’m not done yet!”

Presumably this means that Capaldi's final episode and the regeneration of a new Doctor will take place in the traditional Who Christmas Special. The tenth season of the show is slated to debut in April of this year, and will also mark showrunner Steven Moffat's departure from the Who world.

Zelda: BotW 'Impossible' to 100 Percent Complete in a Week

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is so large that, according to series producer Eiji Aonuma, it will be "impossible" for players complete the game in its entirety within a week.

The Completionist -- a YouTuber who attempts to 100 percent complete a game within the span of 7 days each week -- asked Aonuma about creating Breath of the Wild's rich world, and the series producer prefaced his response by saying, "First of all, it's going to be impossible for you to 100 percent complete Breath of the Wild!"

Aonuma went on to say that "development was certainly a long road," noting that they initially started with just an empty field and progressively added new elements to flesh it out. "We'd go back and play the game over and over again to see what needed to be added, then repeated that process endlessly," he explained.

The Good Place Renewed for Season 2 by NBC

NBC has officially renewed its hit comedy The Good Place for Season 2.

The second season, similar to the first, will consist of 13 half-hour episodes. NBC believes what series creator Mike Schur "brought us with the first season of ‘The Good Place’ was just extraordinary."

"A big thank you to Mike, the writers and cast for delivering a series in which we all take such enormous pride," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement.

The Good Place follows Kristen Bell's character Eleanor Shellstrop, who wakes up to discover she has entered the afterlife after being struck and killed by a tractor-trailer. She finds out from Michael (Ted Danson), her facilitator, that because of her desire to help others and do humanitarian work while she was alive, Eleanor has been able to enter a utopia called "The Good Place." However, she finds out she has been mistaken with someone with the same name, and must hide her past in order to remain in this utopia.

Splinter Cell Film Not Affected by Assassin's Creed

There's been a Sam Fisher-like silence regarding the Splinter Cell movie lately, but it's still happening with Tom Hardy.

Splinter Cell producer Basil Iwanyk opened up about the project with Collider. He confirmed that Assassin's Creed's domestic box office woes haven't impacted the film and there's a screenplay waiting for Hardy's approval.

"We’ve got a script," Iwanyk said. "It’s a little long, but it’s the best script we’ve had. ... This draft kind of addressed Tom’s notes. We’re going to give it to Hardy in the next couple of weeks and hopefully try to get it done this year."

The Best and Worst of the Star Wars Special Editions

As far as Star Wars history goes, 2017 is an important year. Not only is it the 40th anniversary of the release of Episode IV: A New Hope in 1977, but also the 20th anniversary of the release of the Special Editions. The original trilogy was rereleased for fans to behold on the big screen once again in 1997, but the Special Editions weren't the same films that aired two decades earlier. They featured some... tweaks.

If you ever find yourself longing to engage in a passionate debate with a Star Wars fan and are tired asking "Who shot first?" (and we should all be tired of that one), bring up the Special Editions. You'll likely begin an entertaining discussion about the alterations George Lucas made to his story set in a galaxy far, far away. The revisions range from minor dialogue adjustments to Hutt-sized additions. Avatar 2: Motion Capture Begins in August

Avatar director James Cameron has provided a status update on his four sequel films, confirming all are being developed simultaneously, with motion capture set to begin in August.

When asked by The Daily Beast how Avatar 2 is coming along, Cameron replied by saying, "My focus isn't on Avatar 2. My focus is on Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 equally. That's exactly how I’m approaching it. They've all been developed equally."

He also said he's completed the script for Avatar 5, and is "now starting the process of active prep." He went on to note that he's "booked in production every day" from now until he starts motion capture work with the acting crew in August. "Our volume is up and running, and everything is designed, and so we’re going full-guns right now," he added.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter released in theaters this weekend to an estimated $13,850,000, pulling in an opening weekend that ranks as the lowest Resident Evil debut of all time.

Hitting fourth place in its opening weekend, The Final Chapter's debut falls short of the original Resident Evil, which previously stood as the lowest first box office weekend of the film franchise. That original film made $40,119,709 (unadjusted) in its debut weekend in March 2002. The biggest opening weekend in the franchise belongs to the fourth film in the franchise based on Capcom's video game series — Resident Evil: Afterlife made $60,128,566 (unadjusted) when it debuted in September 2010.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Nendoroid Figure Revealed

An adorable Link figure, based on his appearance in the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is on the way from Good Smile's Nendoroid line.

Good Smile revealed that the Link Nendoroid will feature two face plates. That means the cute hero can silently smile or have a shouting expression, like he's about to cut down some grass.

The regular version of the Link Nendoroid also comes with a bow, arrow, quiver, sword, shield, sheath and the Sheikah Slate. But there's also a DX edition.

The deluxe package provides Link with a trusty stead. Plus he gets a tasty chicken leg, an axe, club and hood with alternate hair parts. Pre-orders will begin tomorrow.

Han Solo Movie Begins Filming, First Set Image Revealed

The standalone Han Solo movie has officially begun production.

Co-director Chris Miller revealed the news on Twitter while also sharing the first image from set. The movie's working title is jokingly Red Cup, a pun on the red plastic cups made by the company also named Solo. In the image, you can spot the film's red logo, which has the words Star Wars in much smaller font compared to Red Cup. Though, it's not known whether this might be the final logo design.

Namco Founder Masaya Nakamura Dies at 91

Bandai Namco has announced that Masaya Nakamura, the founder of, died on January 22.

The company only announced Nakamura's death via a press release today.  founded Namco in 1955 originally under the name Nakamura Manufacturing, when the company constructed children's rides for department stores. The name Namco later came from the company's renaming to Nakamura Amusement Machine Manufacturing Company.

Looks Like Another Guardians Character Is Joining Infinity War

It seems Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Mantis will also make an appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.

Mantis actress Pom Klementieff posted an Instagram picture of her wearing an Infinity War hat. Though this isn't confirmation of Klementieff officially joining Infinity War's cast, it does make sense for Mantis to help out the Avengers in some capacity. In the comics, Mantis becomes a member of the Avengers when she helps a former villain called the Swordsman join the team of heroes. She eventually battles both Thanos and Ultron.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Mantis is described as something of a social newbie in the film, having never experienced any type of social interaction. She won't be the first Guardians of the Galaxy character to show up in Infinity War; most of the main roster of Guardians are expected to also appear in the fight against Thanos.

Horizon: Zero Dawn’s Open World Is the Star of the Show

You know those absurdly slick E3 gameplay demos - the almost eerily flawless cascades of world-building and tutorialising that accompany new game reveals these days? Perhaps the best thing I can say after playing several hours of Horizon: Zero Dawn is that on more than one occasion, it made me – a seasoned professional in the business of making beautifully made games look like crap – feel like I was the guy playing one of those demos.

Take my first encounter with a Tallneck, Guerrilla Games’ combination giraffe/robot/Ubisoft tower/brontosaurus creatures. As I picked through the vine-wrapped ruins of a human city, I stopped to take in the view – girders of golden hour sunlight pushing past improbably crooked high-rise buildings and discoloured steeples. As I panned the camera, the Starship Enterprise head of a Tallneck swept unexpectedly into view, accompanied by main character Aloy expressing suitable awe.

Deus Ex Sequel Originally to Be Made by KOTOR 2 Devs

A sequel to Deux Ex: Human Revolution was originally going to be made by Obsidian Entertainment, according to studio CEO Fergus Urquhart.

While Eidos Montreal ended up developing the followup to Human Revolution, Urquhart revealed on the latest episode of our monthly interview show IGN Unfiltered that Obsidian was initially going to develop the sequel, and it would have been out two years prior.

"I know that Human Revolution 2 would have been out two years before because we were originally... we were a developer that was going to do it," he said.

Eidos Montreal's sequel, titled Deux Ex: Mankind Divided, released in September of last year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game received a glowing review from IGN for its "layered, intelligent, and impeccably designed" gameplay that "rewards curiosity and creativity."

Fallout 4 Getting High-Res Upgrade for PC and PS4 Pro

Fallout 4 is getting a substantial high-res upgrade for PC and PS4 Pro.

Update 1.9, which comes out next week for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, will add a native 1444p resolution, enhanced godray effects, better draw distances for objects, NPCs, tress and grass, and enhanced lighting and graphics features for the PS4 Pro.

Bethesda will also release a high-resolution texture pack for PC next week as a free download and "a love letter to our amazing PC fans that have supported us not just with Fallout 4, but across multiple decades and games," the company said in a blog post.

Psychonauts PSVR Game Gets a Release Date

Double Fine has announced that Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin will be released for PlayStation VR on February 21.

Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is a PSVR exclusive and picks up immediately after the story of the original Psychonauts, bridging the gap between that game and the upcoming Psychonauts 2. The story will see Raz trying to rescue his friends entirely using his psychic powers.

In PSVR, players see the world in first-person through the eyes of Raz, plus as other players via the power of Clairvoyance. Raz will use other powers including Telekinesis and Pyrokinesis.

Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin was first announced back in 2015. Separately, Double Fine also announced Psychonauts 2, which was successfully funded on Fig and is expected to release in 2018. If that’s still not enough Psychonauts for you, the original game is currently available on PS4 as a PS2 classic.

The Orks of Dawn of War 3 Are Brutish, Clever Fun

From RPGs and RTS games to pretty much everything else, I rarely manage to find the fun in straightforward solutions. I want resources to manage and decisions to make; extra layers of consideration that make me feel crafty for having one. It’s this preference for finesse over brute force that’s kept me away from factions like the Orks in most strategy games, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 looks to be the sole exception: though they certainly aren’t performing rokkit science, Relic’s rendition of da boyz have just enough brains to make their substantial brawn a lot of fun to run amok with.

The main reason for this is scrap - yes as is in scrap metal. Scrap is generated any time Orks destroy a mechanized enemy unit, or when one of their own bites the proverbial dust. It sounds unassuming, yes, but it’s cleverly woven into nearly every part of the Ork gameplan, giving them a overall style that really is their own. You don’t have to take my word for it either, just check out this video of a full Ork mission playthrough for a better sense.

SAG Awards 2017: Full Movie and TV Winners List

Often viewed as a divining rod for Oscar wins, the Screen Actors Guild awards have ended up a little more evenly spread than might have been expected, particularly after La La Land's Golden Globes domination.

Emma Stone took home the musical's sole win, while Fences was a little more successful, with both Denzel Washington and Viola Davis netting trophies. Mahershala Ali's performance in Moonlight continued to reap rewards, but it was NASA drama Hidden Figures that garnered the award for best cast performance.

In the TV category Netflix continued its quiet takeover of the best of TV, as The Crown scooped both best actor in a drama awards, while Stranger Things and Orange is the New Black nabbed ensemble cast awards.

Nearly 10 Percent of Resident Evil 7 Players Play in VR

A respectable slice of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard's player base is choosing to play the game in VR.

According to official figures on ResidentEvil.net, 9.48 percent of players are choosing to play eyeball-to-eyeball with the Baker family, rather than from the relative safety of traditional sofa gaming.

At the time of writing 87,463 users are logged as having played the survival horror in VR, out of a total 922,904 players across all platforms.

Deus Ex Franchise on Hiatus, Says Report

The rebooted Deus Ex series has apparently been put on hiatus after failing to meet sales expectations, says a new report.

Eurogamer reports that inside sources have said that developer Eidos Montreal has moved the majority of its efforts towards developing the next game in another rebooted series, Tomb Raider.

It is also working on games for the new Square Enix-Marvel partnership, beginning with the Avengers project, a collaboration with Crystal Dynamics.

All I had for company were the streetlights outside my window for the longest time, stooping like I always did. I would only sit up straight for Squall, who I mirrored a great deal. Now, I’m told, I’m more of a Zell. Final Fantasy VIII is the warmest gaming memory I have and I’d frame it if I could. In a way, I have: Its nostalgic value to me is so abyssal I can’t even listen to covers of its music without painting myself into the portrait with manly(ish) tears.

M. Night Shyamalan's horror thriller Split held strong in first place at the domestic box office this weekend, earning an estimated $26.3 million.

Meanwhile, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter debuted in fourth place. Sony's latest installment in video game-inspired film franchise, which concludes the story of Milla Jovovich's Alice, opened to an estimated $13.9 million.

As noted by Variety, the film's global total currently stands at $80 million worldwide. The Resident Evil series traditionally performs better overseas, with approximately 80 percent of the earnings grossed by its prior two entries coming from international markets. As such, The Final Chapter's modest North American debut was in line with Sony's expectations.

Possible Power Rangers Spoiler Revealed by Toy

A new toy for Lionsgate's upcoming Power Rangers film may have revealed a spoiler regarding one of the movie's key characters.

Power Rangers Now (via Heroic Hollywood) has shared several images of Bandai’s new 20-inch action figure of Goldar, the evil minion of Rita Repulsa (Elizabeth Banks). One image in particular suggests that Goldar is actually a Zord in the film, as evidenced by a 2-inch Rita Repulsa who can be found in the figure's abdomen, presumably controlling Goldar.

Alien and Harry Potter Actor John Hurt Dies

John Hurt, whose acting career spanned five and a half decades, has died. He was 77.

Hurt starred in three Harry Potter films, as well as Alien, Hellboy, and dozens of other films and television programs. His role in Midnight Express earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 1978, and in 1980 he was again nominated for an Oscar, this time for Best Actor, for his role in The Elephant Man.

Hurt's appearances over the years read like a who's-who list of memorable sci-fi and fantasy movies and television shows.

In Alien, he played Kane, the first of the crew to die, and he also lent his voice to the 1978 animated version of The Lord of the Rings as Aragorn, and voiced the Horned King in Disney's The Black Cauldron. He also appeared in V for Vendetta, Hellboy, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and can currently be seen opposite Natalie Portman in Jackie. He also played the War Doctor in Doctor Who.
